It's official! The upcoming final season of Amazon Prime's The Boys will feature actors Jared Padalecki and Misha Collins as guest stars.
These actors are perhaps best known for their starring roles alongside The Boys regular, Jensen Ackles, in the cult classic 2005 show, Supernatural. With Eric Kripke being the showrunner for The Boys and the original showrunner and creator of Supernatural, it makes sense to see some actor crossover. Besides Ackles, the two shows share Jeffrey Dean Morgan (Joe Kessler & John Winchester), Rob Benedict (Splinter & Chuck/God), Alexander Calvert (Rufus & Jack), and Jim Beaver (Bob Singer &… Bob Singer). And those are just the big ones. At this point, the question becomes why they haven't brought on Jared and Misha sooner.
We can talk all we want about scheduling conflicts and actor fallout, and I'm sure those things definitely played a part, but I think it's bigger than that. You can...

Kahyun Kim has become a fan-favorite on St. Denis Medical as the quick-witted and confident nurse Serena. Supernatural was an iconic show not just because of its leading circle of talent (although we love them too), but also because of the recurring guest stars who would pop in and out along the way. While Sam (Jared Padalecki), Dean (Jensen Ackles), Castiel (Misha Collins), and other plot-driving characters are considered the faces of the series, their supporting pals packed just as much of a punch. Over the weekend during the Supernatural panel at MegaCon Orlando, at which Collider’s Maggie Lovitt was in attendance, a lineup that included Padalecki, Jim Beaver, Samantha Smith, Alexander Calvert, DJ Qualls, Mark Sheppard, and Ruth Connell chatted about who they wish they could have spent some more on-screen time with. And, let’s just say, the first response was incredibly popular.

Jared Padalecki joined the cast of Supernatural when he was 23 years old. The fantasy horror series ran for 15 seasons, and, by the end of the show, Padalecki was 38.
Both Padalecki and Ackles, who played Sam and Dean Winchester, respectively, were young when the show started. The show's loyal fandom kept it on the air for so long, while the stars grew up, got married, and started their own families. During the Megacon Orlando, Jared Padalecki highlighted the importance and sacrifices he's made for Supernatural, per Cbr, who was at the convention.
Padalecki: “I think 20 years ago today, we were shooting the pilot. There were a lot of sacrifices. There’s been a lot of sh*t. But in hindsight, I’m so grateful to the [fans] because I was public with what I was going through and you were all supportive.‗ Cbr (@Cbr) February 9, 2025

The Supernatural finale brought an end to 15 years of The CW series, ending the Winchester brothers' story on their own terms in an episode filled with nostalgia, memories, and respect for the characters and the audience. After 15 seasons of Supernatural, the show finally came to a close on November 19, 2020, with the final episode, season 15, episode 20, "Carry On". In some ways, the penultimate episode of Supernatural felt like the finale of the series, while the actual finale seemed like it would be more of a coda.
Season 15, episode 19, "Inherit the Earth", is the culmination of many of the storylines in the series, including the depowering of Chuck Shurley/God (Rob Benedict), the transformation of Jack (Alexander Calvert) into the new God, and the sacrifices of Rowena (Ruth Connell) and Castiel (Misha Collins). Most importantly, Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean Winchester (Jensen Ackles) have now been freed from Chuck's influence and can choose their own journey.

Some viewers may say Supernatural lost steam in its last few seasons, but certain episodes prove otherwise. Running for an impressive fifteen seasons, Supernatural delivered over 325 episodes of television from 2005 to 2020. While some of those episodes were bound to be weaker than others, Supernatural maintained a surprisingly high caliber of storytelling throughout all fifteen seasons. Creator Eric Kripke left after season 5, which ended with the near-perfect season finale, "Swan Song." While Supernatural may have dipped slightly in quality after Kripke's exit, it soon found its footing again and continued to deliver consistently solid television.
From ghosts and vampires to angels and demons, Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean (Jensen Ackles) Winchester went up against too many monsters to count throughout Supernatural's fifteen seasons. With their relatable sibling dynamic and compelling character journeys, Sam and Dean made Supernatural worth watching even during its weakest episodes. Supernatural chronicles the adventures of brothers Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean (Jensen Ackles) Winchester as they roam the United States protecting people from things that go bump in the night. Throughout the show's fifteen seasons, the hunters clash with vampires, ghouls, and sometimes even God Himself. Some of their most memorable and consequential battles take place during the shows' season finales.
A truly amazing finale weaves a season's worth of plot threads into a gripping and emotionally relevant hour of television while also throwing open the door to the next stage of the story. Pulling off such a feat is no easy task, but Supernatural manages, sometimes more successfully than others.

The Boys is one of the best shows on Prime Video right now. The problem is there are four seasons that are eight episodes long, and that’s it. You’ll get through that fast!
You can watch Gen V, the spin-off of the series. Again, there’s one season of that right now. It doesn’t take long to work through it. So, you need to find more shows that are like The Boys to watch.
This is a series that is more than just superheroes and vigilantes going up against each other. There are elements that touch on real-world politics, a discussion about relationships, and a touch on grief and loss throughout the series. There isn’t quite something that will check every single box at the same time, but there are some great shows out there that work for many.

In a development that’s sure to excite fans of both “Supernatural” and “The Boys,” discussions are underway for Jared Padalecki to make an appearance in the fifth and final season of Amazon Prime Video’s hit superhero satire. Eric Kripke, creator of both shows, has confirmed that talks are actively ongoing, potentially setting the stage for a reunion between Padalecki and his former “Supernatural” co-star Jensen Ackles.
Kripke, speaking to Entertainment Weekly, expressed enthusiasm about the possibility of bringing Padalecki into “The Boys” universe. “The value of that is to break the internet,” Kripke said. “So we’ll see whether it’s right for the story. But yes, it’s occurred to me that putting those two in a scene together would destroy much of the world, and that’s appealing.”

The tallest Supernatural cast member is Jared Padalecki at a towering 6 foot 4, making him quite the dominating presence on screen. Despite his impressive height, Jared Padalecki's character Sam Winchester doesn't need protection, often handling villains on his own. The smallest cast member is Lauren Tom, standing at only 5 foot 1, proving that size doesn't determine toughness in Supernatural.
Supernatural spent 15 seasons following Dean (Jensen Ackles) and the much taller Sam Winchester (Jared Padalecki) as they battled angels, demons, and monsters, but many fans wondered "How tall is Jared Padalecki?" Dean put it upon himself to protect the younger of the two Winchester brothers, but Sam proved time and time again that he didn't need a protector because he was powerful enough on his own. He was also a good four inches taller than his big brother, and he cast a pretty imposing shadow over the creatures that they had to kill to protect humanity.

With such a long-running series like Supernatural, it's not unfounded that over the course of 15 seasons and 327 episodes, there would be some characters who fall to the wayside. While some characters have fitting endings, others such as Mark A. Sheppard's Crowley were deemed particularly underwhelming by fans. The King of Hell had been a longstanding member of the cast for eight seasons and was killed off at the end of Season 12 in favor of new cast member Alexander Calvert, who played the Nephilim Jack Klein. But why did Crowley leave Supernatural, and why didn't Sheppard ever return? Well, the answers to those questions are a bit complicated.

Some shows would be far better had they ended with earlier seasons rather than the weaker seasons that did end up being their final runs. For example, True Blood should have ended after season 5, as the show's logical storylines became increasingly nonsensical and the departure of showrunner Alan Ball signaled its decline. Big Little Lies' second season was unnecessary and felt like a soap opera, failing to capture the initial spark of the first season's complex character dynamics and compelling suspense.
There are too many TV shows that have run way past their peak, refusing to end when they should have called it quits seasons ago. The temptation has always existed for networks and showrunners to squeeze every last bit of juice from a popular series, regardless of declining quality. Rather than ending these shows at their height, they are run into the ground through nonsensical plotlines and stagnant characters...

Villains like Crowley, the Master/Missy, and Grant Ward were complex and entertaining antagonists, but their undeserved redemption arcs took away from their complexity and credibility. Spike's redemption in Buffy the Vampire Slayer excused his past crimes and focused too much on his romance with Buffy, undermining his villainous era. Klaus Mikaelson's redemption in The Vampire Diaries and The Originals was unsatisfying because centuries of crimes cannot be wiped away, and he never truly improved his negative actions.
Villainous or unlikable characters can sometimes be the most complex in a show, but not all of them deserve the hero treatment they get. While there are some characters who can be redeemed, there are many whose redemption either ruined the stories or are just undeserved. If the redemption is poorly done, the stories may begin to lose credibility as characters are forced into a role that doesn't fit them.
Complex villains make for interesting characters.

Warning: Spoilers ahead for Gen V season 1, episode 6.
Gen V features a Supernatural reunion in episode 6, with Jensen Ackles and two other former cast members making appearances. The Boys season 4 can have an even better Supernatural reunion with the confirmed addition of another alum to the cast. The chemistry between Ackles and this confirmed Supernatural star could lead to an exciting dynamic in The Boys season 4.
Gen V features a surprising Supernatural reunion in episode 6, but The Boys season 4 can top it with one much-anticipated team-up. The Boys spinoff brings a number of new supes into the fold. Gen V's cast of characters is made up of young heroes training at Godolkin University — and several of them are vying for prestigious careers at Vought. This makes it incredibly likely they'll show up in The Boys season 4. And several characters from The Boys have already made appearances in the Prime Video spinoff.

The first season of The Boys spinoff Gen V is coming to a close this week, and it seems like we’re in for a wild ride as the young supes of God U struggle to decide how to move forward after discovering the true nature of The Woods and its experiments.
With Dean Shetty (Shelley Conn) now dead at Cate’s (Maddie Phillips) behest, the threat of the virus seems to be quelled for now, but that doesn’t mean that Cate’s thirst for vengeance has. In the season finale preview, Cate and Sam (Asa Germann) band together to release the people being held in The Woods and seek justice for the atrocities committed against the young supes of God U. Their friends, however, don’t seem too thrilled by the gleam of violence in their eyes as the campus descends into chaos.

Gen V, like The Boys, features shocking penis scenes, but the show's showrunner incorporated them to resonate with both men and women in a way that came from real stories and experiences. Male nudity was unexpectedly featured more in The Boys, breaking the pattern of female nudity being more common in TV and movies. The shocking scenes in the show aimed for both shock factor and humor. Gen V takes a different approach by introducing phallic scenes more shockingly and frequently than The Boys to address women's experiences and not just for shock value or humor.
Gen V showrunner Michele Fazekas explains why the show coincidentally carries on The Boys' strangest tradition of featuring shocking penis scenes. The Boys spinoff shares many similarities with the main series, considering that both are dark superhero shows that tackle a world with corrupt superheroes called "supes." The main difference is that Gen V...

Heads rolled (well popped) in the latest episode of Gen V, as Prime Videos’s The Boys spinoff delivered an action-packed penultimate episode that tied neatly into its bigger brother. The Boys showrunner Eric Kripke has already confirmed (via EW) that the Gen V finale will include a “handoff” to The Boys season 4, and with some significant cameos during “Sick”, things are starting to come together.
The Gen V trailer teased the return of Claudia Doumit’s Victoria Neuman, with the head-popping politician stopping by Godolkin University to put one of her sinister schemes into play. Having thrown Stan Edgar (Giancarlo Esposito) under the bus in The Boys season 3, she’s now on the way to the White House as a vice presidential candidate. This article contains spoilers for Gen V through episode 5.
And just like that, we’re in the homestretch of The Boys‘ first spinoff Gen V. With only eight episodes in total, the upcoming episode six makes the beginning of the end for this story about the young supes at Godolkin University.
In true Boys fashion, things have been quite violent so far with the self-immolation of Golden Boy (Patrick Schwarzenegger) kicking off a mystery for our heroes Marie (Jaz Sinclair), Emma (Lizze Broadway), Cate (Maddie Phillips), Andre (Chance Perdomo), and Sam (Asa Germann) to solve. If that weren’t harrowing enough, episode 5 revealed the culprit of the gang’s memory issues and even set up the surprise return of a beloved Boys character in the form of Jensen Ackles’ Soldier Boy.

The college-age characters on "Gen V" have some powers that are pretty unique from those we've seen on its parent show, "The Boys." The most mysterious powers, however, belong to Marie (Jaz Sinclair). Sure, we've seen blood-bending in various forms before in other media, but the full extent of Marie's capabilities has yet to be seen. Each episode sees her revealing more elements of her abilities, because an attunement to blood is going to be really powerful. A whole lot of living things are chock-full of the stuff, including humans, which makes her a serious possible threat. Many other supes have some kind of restrictions to their abilities but the only thing that could really short out Marie seems to be losing too much of her own blood, which hasn't come close to happening yet.

The creators of Prime Video’s Gen V are explaining that “c-cksplosion” and how they approached constructing a giant penis for the superhero sex scene.
In Episode 4 of the The Boys spinoff show, Marie (Jaz Sinclair) blacks out, and when she wakes up, Rufus (Alexander Calvert) is clearly about to assault her.
To protect herself, she uses her powers to swell Rufus’ penis, and, well, it ultimately explodes.
There’s also a sex scene in the first episode where Emma (Lizzie Broadway) shrinks and climbs on the comparatively enormous penis of Liam (Robert Bazzocchi).
Executive producers Eric Kripke and Michele Fazekas shared all the insider information during an interview with Variety.

It wouldn’t be “The Boys” universe without an exploding penis, right?
In its first four episodes, Prime Video’s spinoff “Gen V” managed to outdo “The Boys” in the sheer number of on-screen penises shown — and also ushered in the first-ever “cocksplosion” seen on TV. Naturally, we had to speak with executive producers Eric Kripke and Michele Fazekas about it.
In Episode 4, Marie (Jaz Sinclair) is looking for Emma (Lizze Broadway), her missing roommate who shrank down super small to investigate the mysterious Woods supe program. Spoilers for "Gen V" follow.
As we've learned through three seasons of "The Boys," if you live in a universe filled with superheroes you should never, ever, have sex with them. They'll accidentally crush your skull during cunnilingus, or worse. It's not that they're bad people exactly; it's that they're not always as in control of their powers as you'd think. And if they spend most of their time among other Supes who can handle the occasional sex-related mishap, they can often forget how fragile a regular human body is.
But even when it comes to Supe-on-Supe sexual relationships, the power imbalance still causes plenty of trouble. When Homelander engaged in a sexual relationship with Doppelganger, a shapeshifter who could transform into his former lover Madeleine Stillwell at will, all it took was one wrong move for Homelander to end up snapping Doppelganger's neck. Even when the Supe isn't accidentally harming you,...

“The Whole Truth,” the fourth episode of Gen V, features a dick joke in its first act, a dick joke in its third act, and wedged in-between is a dick exploding like a bloody piñata. Ladies and gentlemen, The Aristocrats …. I mean, The Boys!
The Boys universe has always operated under the ironclad comedic principle of “pee-pees are funny” and Gen V seems to be continuing that tradition. And honestly, it’s hard to argue they’re wrong for doing so. Pee-pees are indeed funny! We’ve seen this borne out in the season 3 opener of the flagship series which saw shrinking supe Termite entering an actual human penis and inadvertently blowing it up (along with the body it belongs to) by a sneeze-triggered rapid growth. It’s completely understandable if you’re having trouble remembering what happened in the first three episodes of Gen V, the teen-set spin-off of superhero satire The Boys. After watching Emma aka Little Cricket (Lizzie Broadway) using her powers to appease a partner’s fantasies, everything else kind of falls away.
But like its parent series, Gen V has a lot more going on than just shocking sex and violence. By focusing on the next generation of Supes, the teens who received powers after being injected with Compound V as children, Gen V adds a layer of soapy drama to the social satire and superhero action.

Gen V definitely has one of the best origin stories for a leading character in any movie or TV series. Spin-off to the hit anti-superhero series The Boys, Gen V is set in Vought’s Godolkin University aka “God U” and it follows the story of a group of young supes trying to learn how to be real heroes. But it is set in The Boys universe, so it couldn’t just be that as we see our heroes getting tangled in a conspiracy that might be too big for them to handle on their own.
Created by Eric Kripke, Evan Goldberg, and Craig Rosenberg and show run by Michele Fazekas and Tara Butters, Gen V has all the qualities The Boys fans were hoping for and a bit more. The spin-off series comfortably builds on The Boy’s themes with its own weird and fresh spin. The...

Since Vought International is probably behind the supes school at the center of The Boys spinoff Gen V, it should come as no surprise that sinister things are happening behind the scenes of the institution in a newly released trailer for the series.
While one character warns of evil people at the school, the students band together and show off their powers, even as they struggle with the fact that they’re “all f–ked up.”

Who's ready to see "The Boys" head to college? Amazon Prime Video's spin-off of the graphic superhero series is finally arriving this fall, and we finally have a first look at it. On Dec. 3, 2022, the streamer premiered a teaser trailer for the show, titled "Gen V," at the Brazilian Comic Con Experience, and the new series looks every bit as diabolical as the original. While the voiceover promises the students of Godolkin University that the campus will offer them a "safe space to thrive," it appears matriculating at this college is dangerous business.
On July 24, the streamer released another teaser trailer showing Marie Moreau, played by Jaz Sinclair, as a blood-bender who apparently has a "target on her back." We also catch glimpses of Patrick Schwarzenegger, Sean Patrick Thomas, and Clancy Brown.
The series preview, of course, features blood, guts, but also . . . puppets? Without context, it's hard to tell exactly...
