Exclusive: Marcos Carnevale’s Argentinian remake of Intouchables starring Coppa Volpi winner Oscar Martinez continues to be a hot seller for Guido Rud’s Buenos Aires-based sales company.

Film Movement has acquired North American rights excluding pay-tv and streaming, which HBO Latino previously licensed.

In two further key deals, Isaan Entertainment acquired the film for Spain and will set a second quarter theatrical release on more than 60 prints.

Movies Inspired acquired Inseparables for Italy and will also stage a theatrical release.

FilmSharks closed earlier deals with Buena Vista International for Argentina and Uruguay, and Sony for Mexico, Colombia and Chile TV/VOD.

Elsewhere, rights previously went in Brazil (Paris Filmes), Central America (Wiesner Distribution), Greece (Spentzos Film), Turkey (Tanweer), and Peru, Ecuador and Bolivia (Eurofilms).

Luis Alberto Scalella’s Sono Film and Viacom’s broadcaster Telefé produced the remake, which drew about 350,000 admissions in Argentina following the August 11 release last year.

On Monday, December 12th, the last two films from the 85 qualified submissions in the Best Foreign Language Film race were screen for voters, which means the 9-film shortlist, comprised of six popular choices and three executive votes, will soon be announced. Unlike previous years in which a clear frontrunner had been established early on in the season, this year the competition feels wide open even if there are so unquestionable favorites.

Europe’s dominance continues with films such as the acclaimed “Toni Erdmann,” which is the closest to a frontrunner there is, Almodovar’s “Julieta,” France’s “Elle,” and Denmark’s “Land of Mine.” Latin America put forward a weaker pack of films than in year’s prior while still having a couple marvels in competition. Asia, including the Middle East, and Africa, each have a handful of films that could surprise and shake the Eurocentric category for a change.

Over the weekend, the 73rd annual Venice Film Festival handed out their awards for 2016, with a few of the expected major Oscar hopefuls showing up among their winners. They included a few of the contenders being heavily mentioned not only at Venice, but over at the Telluride Film Festival as well. The awards did cite some smaller films and performances, but this was closer to a star studded slate of honorees than not, which is something a bit new. Venice is looking to be a launching pad for a handful of flicks as we move forward in the fall festival season, and that’s certainly exciting. The fest may now be in the books, with the Toronto International Film Festival (or Tiff) the center of attention, but my hat is off to Venice for some of these picks. He hasn't returned to his hometown of Salas, Argentina in forty years despite setting all of his novels there. Exclusive: Disney has swooped on Latin American and Spanish rights to Kóblic, a thriller that reunites Argentinian idol Ricardo Darin with his Chinese Take-Out director Sebastián Borensztein.

Guido Rud’s Buenos Aires-based FilmSharks closed the early deal on the $3.5m project and has scored a Greek pre-sale with Seven Films.

Production on Kóblic is set to start in Argentina on July 20 with Darin playing a Navy captain in the late 1970s during the country’s ‘Dirty War’ who refuses to take part in the death flights, whereby drugged dissidents are dropped from planes.

The officer takes refuge in a coastal city and flies crop dusters for a family friend. He eventually falls for a local woman and confronts a thuggish police chief as the dictatorship’s agents close in on his whereabouts.

Personally, this is the nominated film that should have won the Best Foreign Language Film, because of its commonality and recognizable expression. After the audacious prologue, the titles are shown over animals in the wild, which in actuality we still are, and still inhabit. The Santa Barbara International Film Festival has unveiled its 2015 line-up which includes films representing 54 countries, 23 world premieres and 53 U.S. premieres. The U.S. premiere of Niki Caro’s McFarland USA will close out the 30th fest. Based on the 1987 true story and starring Kevin Costner and Maria Bello, the film follows novice runners from McFarland, an economically challenged town in California’s farm-rich Central Valley, as they give their all to build a cross-country team under the direction of Coach Jim White (Costner), a newcomer to their predominantly Latino high school. The unlikely band of runners overcomes the odds to forge not only a championship cross-country team but an enduring legacy as well.

The festival runs from January 27-February 7.

Adieu au Langage (Goodbye to Language): Godard’s first film to compete at Cannes was Cleo de 5 a 7, which premiered at the 1962 Cannes Film Festival. Since then, 18 of his films have been screened at the festival, though not all in competition. Goodbye to Language is Godard’s first film in competition in over 10 years.

Ben Affleck's "Argo" continues its march as the Oscar front-runner this awards season. Yesterday, the film was the big winner at the 2013 Producers Guild Awards, and tonight, it won the big prize at the Screen Actors Guild Awards taking home the Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture trophy.

As predicted, Daniel Day-Lewis won the Lead Actor award for "Lincoln" while Jennifer Lawrence won the Lead Actress award for "Silver Linings Playbook."

Tommy Lee Jones won the Best Supporting Actor award for "Lincoln," and my fave, the lovely Anne Hathaway won the Best Supporting Actress award for "Les Miserables."

In the television category, "Downton Abbey" won Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series and "Modern Family" took home the Comedy Series award.

The Screen Actors Guild Awards nominations have been announced, continuing the awards season we’re currently in the midst of, and further recognising a handful of films that are already buzzing ahead of the Oscars.

Les Misérables, Lincoln, Argo, and Silver Linings Playbook all have prominent positions in the SAG announcement, along with an interesting appearance from The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel in the ensemble category, Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture.

The awards celebrate not just the year’s best performances on the big screen, but also those on television, and some of the biggest and best TV shows have deservedly earned their places in the nominations below.

There's a baby girl in The Office! Oscar Nuñez—who stars on the hit TV show—and wife Ursula Whittaker welcomed a daughter on Oct. 4, his rep confirms to E! News. The first-time parents named their bundle of joy August Luce. Baby August was born in Los Angeles, and she is the first child for the couple. The ninth and final season of The Office is currently underway. Nuñez is most famous for his role on the hit sitcom as the gay accountant Oscar Martinez—a character that he has played throughout all nine seasons. For his next project, Nuñez is slated to play defense attorney Jose Baez in the TV movie, Prosecuting Casey Anthony.

Oscar Nunez, best known as The Office's competent account, Oscar Martinez, will play the also competent — if somewhat controversial — Florida lawyer Jose Paez in the Lifetime movie Prosecuting Casey Anthony, which is what it sounds like. He'll star opposite Rob Lowe as Jeff Ashton, the prosecutor whose book inspired the script. In related news: Geraldo Rivera will not play himself in the movie, and we eagerly await news of who, exactly, will be charged with that particular task.

The Screen Actors Guild has announced their list of nominations for the best performances of 2011. I have to point out that I'm surprised Tom Hardy and Joel Edgarton weren't nominated for their roles in Warrior, because they were pretty damn awesome in that film. I think they deserved a nom more than Leonardo DiCaprio. I'm a huge fan of DiCaprio but his performance in J. Edgar wasn't his best. Brad Pitt will end up taking home the award for Moneyball though. It was great to see Bridesmaids and The Help get a nomination for best ensemble cast. It will be interesting to see who takes home the award on this list, and how many of them will make their way to the Oscars.

Nominees for the 18th Annual Screen Actors...

Nominations for the 18th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards are in, and Emma Stone is leading the way. Her summer sleeper hit, "The Help," nabbed the most movie nominations with four, followed by Oscar-fav "The Artist" with three and a handful of others with two ("Bridesmaids," "The Descendants," "Moneyball").

On the television side of things, "Modern Family" soared to the top of the pack with five nods, while "30 Rock" and "Dexter" each garnered two. HBO reeled in the most total noms with 11.

The SAG Awards ceremony will air live on Sunday, Jan. 29, 2012 on TNT and TBS at 8 p.m. Et

Meryl Streep was among the nominees when the 2012 Screen Actors Guild Awards nominations were announced this morning.

Streep was nominated for her role in “The Iron Lady,” a biopic about British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher.

“The Help” was one of the leading candidates with the film’s actors getting a nod for outstanding cast; “The Help” stars Viola Davis (leading role) and Octavia Spencer (supporting role) were also tapped for individual nominations.

The Office star Oscar Nunez has claimed that the NBC comedy will take advantage of Steve Carell's impending exit. The actor, who plays accountant Oscar Martinez, told Collider that immediately replacing Carell's character Michael Scott would "be wasting a lot of momentum and hype and opportunity". "I don't think [the production team are] wringing their hands about it," he suggested. "I think they're going to bring in different people and have fun, and say 'Well, it didn't work out [with that character] for this reason or that reason', and meanwhile [we have] (more)...

Another day, another barrage of suggestions that Halle Berry‘s ex Gabriel Aubry is a racist gold-digger. Another ex has come to TMZ, accusing Aubry of being “very disrespectful to women” and a “borderline racist” who was fond of the n-word long before he started hurling it at the mother of his daughter Nahla. Was Halle’s biological clock clicking too loudly for her to notice these traits before having his child?

Screen Actors Guild presented its coveted Actor statuette for the outstanding motion picture and primetime television performances of 2010 at the 17th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards in ceremonies attended by film and television's leading actors, held Sunday, Jan. 30, at the Los Angeles Shrine Exposition Center. The 17th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards was simulcast live coast-to-coast by TNT and TBS at 8 p.m. (Et), 7 p.m. (Ct), 6 p.m. (Mt) and 5 p.m. (Pt). An encore presentation was telecast on TNT at 10 p.m. (Et), 9 p.m. (Ct), 8 p.m. (Mt) and 7 p.m. (Pt).

The 17th annual Screen Actors Guild Awards belonged to Tom Hooper's "The King's Speech," now the frontrunner of the 2011 Oscar race. Last night, the Directors Guild crowned Hooper as the Best Director of 2010, tonight the Screen Actors Guild blessed "The King's Speech."

The drama about King George VI (Colin Firth) and how he overcomes his speech impediment to unite his country was given the Best Film Ensemble at the 2011 Sag Awards. Firth also received the Best Actor trophy.

Natalie Portman continues her awards momentum by winning the Best Actress trophy for "Black Swan." David O. Russell's "The Fighter" yielded Best Supporting trophies for Christian Bale for Supporting Actor and Melissa Leo for Supporting Actress.

Just in time for the new episodes of The Office which begin airing this week, NBC released another companion web series The Podcast. The series follows the character Gabe Lewis' (Zach Woods) attempts to get his new podcast for the Sabre website off the ground. Inspired by jealousy of character Oscar Martinez's (Oscar Nuñez)'s There's No Accounting for Style blog, Gabe attempts to impress corporate with his initiative. Of course things go awry as he records conversations that should remain off the record. The first three episodes have been released, chronicling the creation, recording of the first entry, and the grand debut of Gabe's podcast. Today the nominations for the 17th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards was released. The King’s Speech and The Fighter received the most nominations, with four each. Thankfully the Guild seems to know what they are doing unlike The Golden Globes who pretty much screwed up all the nominations.

The nominees here are usually a very strong indication of how the acting award nominees will play out at the Oscars. King’s Speech has long been an Oscar favourite, but David O. Russell’s The Fighter has gained considerable steam in the past few weeks. Last year, 19 out of 20 SAG nominees went to the Oscars as well so you can be sure that The Fighter and King’s Speech will get a best picture nomination. David O. Russell's "The Fighter" and Tom Hooper's "The King's Speech" dominated the 17th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards nominations. Both films receive 4 nods each with "The Fighter" receiving nominations for Christian Bale, Amy Adams, and Melissa Leo in the supporting categories. But, the film's lead star, Mark Wahlberg, was not nominated.

For "The King's Speech," Colin Firth was nominated for male lead, while Geoffrey Rush and Helena Bonham Carter received noms for their supporting roles.

Ernest Borgnine will receive the Lifetime Achievement Award.

The Screen Acors Guild has released their award nominations for their upcoming 17th annual award ceremony, which will take place on January 30, 2011.

There are some great nominations here. My favorite picks include Christian Bale for his role in The Fighter, Natalie Portman in her role in Black Swan, and Jesse Eisenberg for his role in The Social Network. As much as I love most of these films, I'm surprised that Inception is no where to be seen. That was one of the best films of the year and it seems to be escaping a lot of the nominations in all the award ceremonies this year.

Okay, totally kidding about the Colfer Lifetime Achievement Award thing - that will be going to Ernest Borgnine. But does it seem to you that the kid who plays Kurt Hummel is getting an awful lot of awards season love? (And wouldn't McHale's Navy have been so much better with him in it?)

The latest outpouring of Colfer acclaim comes from the Screen Actors Guild who announced their 17th annual SAG nominees this morning.

The Glee cast is up for a comedy ensemble award, but Colfer was the only cast member other than Jane Lynch to be recognized individually. And given who he's up against he's almost certain to be the frontrunner!

Another bit of good news for a Glbt favorite, The Kids Are All Right, scored individual acting nods for Annete Bening, Mark Rufallo, and also a nomination for Outstanding Performance by a Cast.
