Every season, plenty of anime shows and films are met with hype to incredible degrees. Whether it’s because of the popularity of the source material, the pedigree of the staff and studio, or some combination of the two, some anime will stand out more than others, and those that do are often the ones that are the best to watch in their respective seasons.
Hype tends to be a good way of judging how good an anime will be, but that isn’t always the case. As often as anime are given hype, they’re just as often ignored either before their premieres or during because of their premises or a general lack of interest, but even with that, there are many cases when an anime will find major success with fans and critics alike after initially garnering little to no interest. Sometimes, anime fans watch an anime series for the hard-hitting combat scenes or the escapism of fantasy and isekai, but other times, fans tune in so they can watch a healthy, inspiring love tale unfold between two likeable characters. Sometimes, a strong romance is the story's focus, and other times, it's merely one part of the story, but in either case, anime fans always adore a good love story. Some on-screen couples may be humorously dysfunctional for cheap laughs, but other couples are healthy and realistic.
A healthy romance involves, among other things, a great deal of mutual respect, sharing regular quality time together, a sense of fun and fulfillment, and a lack of serious drama or conflict. Every decade in anime presents a variety of healthy romances that are clearly "relationship goals," and so far, the 2020s has been delivering, too. This decade features some heart-warming romances that anyone would aspire to,...

Melissa Joan Hart recalled the horrific scene she witnessed in the aftermath of the most recent mass shooting, this time in Nashville, Tennessee, where three children and three adults died when a shooter opened fire at the Covenant Presbyterian School.
The “Sabrina the Teenage Witch” star took to her “What Women Bridge” podcast on Wednesday and explained exactly what she witnessed on Monday at the school “right next” to the one where her three children — ages 10, 15, and 17 — attend. Hart, who previously said this was her second experience with a school mass shooting after moving from Connecticut (where 20 children were killed in 2012 at Sandy Hook Elementary in Newtown), said she and her co-host, Amanda Lee, were on their way to their kids’ schools for a parent conference when they saw the unthinkable unfolding, which included a teacher guiding children across a highway and away from danger.

Melissa Joan Hart recounted her experience attempting to help students fleeing a school shooter in Nashville, one of the most difficult things the actress says she’s ever seen.
For the latest episode of her What Women Binge podcast, Hart and co-host Amanda Lee shared details about their experiences Monday when police and emergency responders took over the area surrounding The Covenant School, a private Presbyterian parochial school, where a shooter killed three children and three adults.
Hart and Lee noted that they were respectively on their way to their children’s schools, which were close by, for conferences or already there when they began to encounter or see on the news the local authorities’ response to the active shooter situation. That’s when Hart said she saw a visual that will stay with her.

One Piece Film: Red might be the franchise's most exciting movie yet, and a great deal of that has to do with the new characters it introduces, Uta and Gordon. With these characters joining One Piece's already larger-than-life cast, we spoke to their English voice actors.
Released theatrically in English on November 4th, One Piece Film: Red follows Luffy and the Straw Hat pirates as they go to attend a concert by pop-idol Uta. Much to the surprise of the other Straw Hats, Luffy reveals that Uta is not only his childhood friend but also Shanks' daughter.
Unfortunately, Uta and Shanks didn't part ways on the best terms, with the red-haired pirate trusting the protection of his daughter to a mysterious man named Gordon. With these characters having implications for Luffy and the other Straw Hats even beyond Red, fans have been dying to know more about Uta and Gordon.

For 15 years, voice actor Colleen Clinkenbeard has shouted the catchphrase "Gum Gum!" as anime hero Monkey D. Luffy threw his stretchy punches. Sprung from Eiichiro Oda's enduring shōnen manga, the "One Piece" anime is still sailing after more than 20 rollicking seasons that add up to over a thousand episodes (plus several feature films). As Luffy's gruff, sandy English voice, Clinkenbeard fondly sails with him for his next adventure in "One Piece Film: Red," where Luffy's ambition to be King of the Pirates is in opposition of the interest of his childhood friend, Uta (Amanda Lee).
From "Fruit Basket" to "My Hero Academia," Clinkenbeard is a prolific voice actress of more than 300 roles in anime and video games. /Film spoke with her about what it means to be Luffy, directing Adr, Luffy's past, and the future of the voiceover industry.

"One Piece" is a sprawling franchise of nearly 25 years, kicking off with Eiichiro Oda's Weekly Shōnen Jump manga in July 1997 before getting a rollicking anime adaptation from Toei Animation. The manga series is known for breaking the World Guinness Record for most printed comic series by one author. "One Piece" follows the Straw Hat gang, lead by Monkey D. Luffy (Colleen Clinkenbeard), whose consumption of a Devil Fruit granted him awesome stretchy powers. Luffy is on a long quest to find the legendary One Piece treasure and claim the King of the Pirates throne.
Now "One Piece" is sailing toward its final arc just when you thought the voyage could go on forever in the endless sea. Commemorating the 1000th anime episode and sending signals of the end is another one of its theatrically released features, "One Piece Film: Red."
