Cristin Milioti experienced a well-deserved whirlwind awards season thanks to her indelible performance as Sofia Falcone in the Colin Farrell-led Penguin streaming series. Milioti won the Critics Choice Award (Best Actress in a Limited Series or Movie Made for Television) for her portrayal of the antagonist, and she was also nominated for a Golden Globe and a Screen Actors Guild Award, among others. Now, the talented thespian is joining Netflix’s upcoming animated adventure, In Your Dreams,in which Milioti will play Mom in the film. One of the movie’s writers and directors, Alex Woo, said of her casting in a new interview:

Critics Choice Awards winner Cristin Milioti (The Penguin) will play mom to Simu Liu’s dad in Netflix’s animated adventure In Your Dreams. Milioti is one of the latest actors to join the production, joining Liu and Craig Robinson, who were previously announced to lend their voices to the family-friendly film.

Stacchi's “The Monkey King” is a computer-animated and English language adaptation of the classic novel “Journey to the West” from the Ming Dynasty. It was elected as the closing film at the 22nd New York Asian Film Festival in July 2023 and later released worldwide on Netflix. There's no arguing that Moana wasn't a stunning achievement in animation and storytelling. Naturally, the details of each narrative distinguish these characters adequately, so they're not complete replicas.

Tyler Sanders, the 18-year-old star of Amazon’s Just Add Magic: Mystery City who was found dead in June at his Los Angeles home, died from the effects of fentanyl, the L.A. County Medical Examiner-Coroner has revealed. The coroner said his death was accidental.

The coroner’s report did not find any other causes of death and no other significant conditions during its investigation. It has labeled Sanders’ case closed.

Katie Beth Hall has been cast in the “Head of the Class” reboot pilot at HBO Max, Variety has learned exclusively.

She joins previously announced series lead Isabella Gomez as well as cast members Jorge Diaz, Dior Goodjohn, Jolie Hoang-Rappaport, Brandon Severs, and Christa Miller.

The rebooted series revolves around a group of overachieving high school students who meet their greatest challenge — a teacher Alicia Adams (Gomez), who wants them to focus less on grades and more on experiencing life.

Hall will star as Sarah Watson. She is on the swim team with Terrell (Severs) and is a type A personality that’s driven to create her own destiny.

Hall previously appeared on shows like “Happy!” in the role of Brooke, “Better Call Saul” as Young Kim, and “Bull.” She is repped by Jordan, Gill & Dornbaum Talent Agency, Inc., 3 Arts Entertainment, and Morris Yorn.

The reboot hails from American Vandal writers Amy Pocha and Seth Cohen, Bill Lawrence and his Doozer Productions; and Warner Bros. Television, which produced the original series.

Exclusive: Watchmen actress Jolie Hoang-Rappaport is going back to school. She is the latest to join the roster of the Head of the Class reboot at HBO Max.

Created by Rich Eustis and Michael Elias, the original Head of the Class ran on ABC from 1986-91. It followed a group of gifted students at the fictional Millard Fillmore High School in Manhattan and their history teacher Charlie Moore, played by Howard Hesseman.

The reimagined series isn’t too far from the original but will modernize it and swaps gender of the teacher. It revolves around a group of overachieving high school students who meet their greatest challenge — teacher Alicia Adams, who wants them to focus less on grades and more on experiencing life. The news of Hoang-Rappaport’s casting comes after Deadline exclusively reported that One Day at a Time actor Isabella Gomez will be stepping into the role of Alicia Adams.

An inevitable comedown after last week’s masterpiece, “Watchmen” Episode 7 tries to swap groundbreaking storytelling for long-craven explanations, going so far as to unveil its biggest twist yet.
