Netflix's newly acquired film, Subservience, quickly rose to become the platform's current number-one most popular movie upon its streaming release on December 5, 2024. This comes as no surprise considering the immense star power that Megan Fox's name brings to the film. However, despite its popularity, the Scott Dale project has been met with mediocre critic and audience reviews, garnering many five out of 10-star ratings. Not only is the film far from astounding, but it is also gaining some negative attention for its parallels to the Universal Pictures 2022 box-office hit, M3GAN, directed by Gerard Johnstone.

Following its theatrical bow in September, the AI thriller Subservience has shot to the top of Netflix's most-watched movies in December 2024. The film stars Megan Fox as Alice, a robotic android hired by Nick (Michele Morrone) to care for his two children after his wife Maggie (Madeline Zima) has a long hospital stay due to a heart condition.

For Nick and his children, things get most complicated when Maggie returns home and finds her domicile under threat from Alice. While neither silly, sexy, nor scary enough, the final moments of the psychosexual techno-thriller bear a bit more scrutiny. Less confusing than downright incredulous, Subservience takes a big, ambitious swing in the third and final act that is admirable if not unnerving. Here's what transpires at the end of Subservience.

Director Renny Harlin recently shot an entire trilogy of Strangers movies simultaneously, with The Strangers: Chapter 1 set to reach theatres on May 17th and The Strangers: Chapter 2 and The Strangers: Chapter 3 possibly following by the end of the year… but those aren’t the only Renny Harlin horror movies we’ll be seeing this year. Apparently he was already in Bulgaria shooting Ninja Fury when local producers contacted him about making Refuge next. After a mysterious attack from a malevolent demon during his tour of duty in Afghanistan, Sergeant Rick Pedroni returns home a changed man, and more dangerous than ever. This is similar to many other solider-returns-home-damaged films but with a supernatural Ptsd twist. The film stars Aston McAuley as Rick, Sophie Simnet as his wife Kate, Raza Jaffrey, Johanna Harlin, Shervin Alenabi, Atanas Srebrev, Max Kraus, and Jason Flemyng.
