Deadpool & Wolverine took us into The Void and brought back actors like Jennifer Garner and Wesley Snipes to reprise their iconic Marvel roles. Joining them was Dafne Keen as X-23 and Channing Tatum as Gambit, with the latter finally given the chance to suit up as the popular X-Man.
Throw in Wade Wilson and Logan, and they made for a formidable team...fortunately, they had plenty of cannon fodder to beat up in the form of Cassandra Nova's army of Variants.
Among them was a new take on Psylocke, a character played by Mei Melançon in X-Men: The Last Stand and Olivia Munn in X-Men: Apocalypse. Actor and stunt performer Ayesha Hussain took over the role for Deadpool & Wolverine and we now have a closer look at the threequel's take on the mutant.

Asian channels operator Kc Global Media has teamed with Singapore’s Infocomm Media Development Authority (Imda) to develop “Fallen 8,” a sci-fi fantasy original animation series. It is a contemporary adaptation of the mystical Asian classic story of the Eight Immortals.
The narrative involves a group of celestial beings who are tested on their worth where they have fallen into the present day. Through the course of their adventures, each reveals their divine power to achieve a common goal.
The development venture is supported by Imda’s Capability Partnership Programme and also involves animation firm Robot Playground Media. The show was announced Wednesday, on the first day of the Asia TV Forum in Singapore.
“Western myths have dominated film and television while at the same time connecting audiences to our shared humanity. I am excited to be working with talented Singapore creators to now bring one of the most popular Asian myths,...

Fans rejoiced when they found out that Psylocke was going to appear in X-men: Apocalypse, and be handled in a more faithful way than when we last saw her on screen in X-men: The Last Stand. For one thing, the relatively unknown actress Mei Melançon has been replaced by Olivia Munn, who's got tons of geek cred thanks to her four year stint on G4's Attack Of The Show. For another, she's a visual dead ringer for the role, aided mightily by the fact that she's actually wearing her signature costume. The importance of the visuals has not been lost on Munn, who has revealed that she turned down the option to use a body double for Psylocke's action sequences.
"That was me from the beginning to the end," she revealed to Entertainment Tonight at the Sci-Tech Awards. "That was a really cool thing to feel like when I...

Nightmare Code is a psychological sci-fi thriller about behaviour recognition technology and 24/7 surveillance. Brett Desmond, a genius programmer with a troubled past, is called in to finish a top-secret behaviour recognition program, Roper, after the previous Lead Programmer went insane. But the deeper Brett delves into the code, the more his own behaviour begins changing… in increasingly terrifying ways. Suspense builds with surveillance, PC, and eyeglass cameras – often with four images onscreen at once… as if Roper itself is telling the story.

The theatre breeds no shortage of large personalities, and in the upcoming comedy "Blumenthal," none loomed larger than Harold Blumenthal. And with his recent passing, his legacy hangs over everyone around him in writer/director Seth Fisher's feature debut. Starring Brian Cox, Fred Melamed, Laila Robins, Mark Blum and Mei Melancon, the film tracks Harold Blumenthal's eccentric family from his nephew Ethan, who's trying to navigate relationship issues, Harold's brother Saul who is plagued with constipation, and Saul's second wife Cheryl who wants more out of life. And of course, between them, there is various tension and disagreements, highlighted in this exclusive clip where a visit to the theatre turns into a comic confrontation. "Blumenthal" opens on Friday, March 28th in New York City. And if you catch the 8 Pm screening at Village East, it will be followed by a Q&A with Seth Fisher.

“Blumenthal” is a film about three Blumenthals. There’s Harold (Brian Cox), the famous playwright who died laughing at his own joke. There’s his brother, Saul (Mark Blum), an English professor who feels entitled to a bit of Harold’s success and has had some issues, ahem, not letting things… go. And there’s Saul’s son, Ethan (Seth Fisher), a pharmaceutical rep who’s obsessed with finding the perfect fit. He wears nurse’s shoes and can’t stand his girlfriend Christina’s (Mei Melancon) sloppy eating. At the beginning of this tale of three Blumenthals, Saul is sitting shiva for Harold, and Ethan has just dumped Christina. We also can’t forget Saul’s wife, Cheryl (Laila Robins), an actress assessing her age and her career in the wake of Harold’s death. The Publicity machine is starting to whirr into life for 20th Century Fox's summer release X-Men: First Class.
Director Matthew Vaughn's film - produced by Bryan Singer - is a prequel to the X-Men world established by the previous films and features younger versions of Professor Xavier and Magneto during the 1960s, before they became opponents.

October isn't over yet, but already filmmakers are gearing up for the 2010 American Film Market, which runs November 3rd-10th. Info on two new films from Bigfoot Entertainment landed in our inbox today, both written and directed by Michael Gleissner, dealing with greed, lust, and betrayal set in Hong Kong: Irreversi and Hui Lu. Interestingly, they sound almost identical.
Irreversi Synopsis
Newlyweds Adam and Lynda have the perfect life. They are completely enamored with each other, and Adam has just sold a technology patent for millions. However, their marital bliss soon fades when Lynda begins to suspect that Adam's newfound fortune could be tied to the recent death of her beloved brother. With the truth slowly emerging, how far will Adam go to hide his dark secrets from the one he loves, and will he be ready to live with the consequences? Starring Mei Melancon, Ian Bohen, Estella Warren; in English.

At the start of this week, I ran the first part of my interview with Mei Melancon, who stars in new sci-fi thriller Shockwave, Darkside.
It's set 100 years in the future and centres on five people stranded on the moon when their spaceship crashes.
Mei's previous roles include comic book favourite Psylocke in X-Men: The Last Stand (often abbreviated to X3), which was released in 2006.
In the first part of the interview, the La-based model-turned-actress spoke about her role in Shockwave, Darkside, how she chooses her projects and her favourite films in general.
Today, we turn the spotlight on to comic book adaptations, particularly the X-Men series, to see what interesting facts she could share from her time filming on X3 five years ago. I also asked what she thinks of previous and subsequent X-Men projects including the upcoming prequel X-Men: First Class.

Every summer, hundreds of projects - from films to TV shows and comics - compete for attention amid the mad maelstrom that is San Diego Comic-Con.
It's easy for many of the smaller ventures to be overshadowed by the big-budget presentations and among the lesser-known projects at the event was a 3D space thriller called Shockwave, Darkside.
Duncan Jones' recent lunar-based drama Moon brought us a return to classic sci-fi and reminded the industry that quality can be crafted with careful thought and the judicious use of budget as much as with throwing hundreds of millions of dollars at the screen for endless, explosive spectacle.
Writer/director Jay Weisman has taken a similar approach - and hopes for a similar reception - with his independently financed Shockwave, Darkside, which also happens to be set on the moon. Weisman unveiled a trailer (see below) at Comic-Con along with plans for a web-based tie-in comic.

This is the review of Shrink, directed by Jonas Pate and starring Kevin Spacey, Joe Nunez, Mark Webber, Keke Palmer, Sierra Aylina McClain, Ada Luz Pla, Saffron Burrows, Jack Huston, Pell James and Mei Melançon. Shrink is a multi-layered story not dissimilar to Robert Altman’s The Player. It’s a modest and charming offering, directed by Jonas Pate. The script and cast strike several notes of genuine emotional depth – not least in its exploration of the deep scars prompted by suicide. There are also flashes of humour – particularly in the budding romance between Jeremy and Daisy.

Hey, is something happening this Sunday night? I feel like I keep forgetting an important event. No? Well then maybe that would be the perfect night to disassemble my television and see if I can put it back together again. You know, for kicks since nothing else is happening — oh, wait, that's right. The one and only hourlong dramatic series about lesbians is ending after six years. Sheesh. How could I forget? You'd think I bumped my head while diving into the deep end of a pool or something.

Fans of The L-Word will be happy to know that Showtime is finally ordering a spin-off of the series, they announced on Thursday. In fact, creator Ilene Chaiken was set to write and produce the pilot presentation of the spin-off, which will follow Leisha Hailey’s character, Alice Pieszecki, as she moves on with her life, closing the chapter of The L-Word.
Showtime already gave us a hint of what’s to come for the show, as CEO Matt Blank announced during the TCA that “[W]e're doing this interesting thing: The storyline at the end of The L Word, the final episode in the final season, there will be an open-ended component to it and Ilene is going to carry that story along on the Internet, which we think is an interesting way to keep The L Word experience going. Then if we decide to go ahead with the spin-off...

'X-Men 3' has another villain in Melancon
20th Century Fox and Marvel Entertainment have added another lethal component to X-Men 3. Mei Melancon has joined the cast of the comic book-inspired sequel as the evil mutant assassin Psylocke. Melancon, who appeared in Brett Ratner's Rush Hour 2, is reteaming with the helmer for the third installment of the superhero franchise. Word began leaking last week from the Vancouver set that the latest X-Men installment would introduce the character Psylocke, who has had several incarnations in the Marvel comic book series and is best known for her fighting and telepathic skills as well as an ability to transport herself and others through shadows. In the film, she will fight against the X-Men as a member of Magneto's (Ian McKellen) Brotherhood of Mutants.
