From ‘Severance’ to ‘The Morning Show,’ Apple TV+ is all about big stars and bold storytelling.
The first time I realized Apple TV+ wasn’t messing around was when “The Morning Show” dropped. A series built around Jennifer Aniston - one of the most famous TV actors of all time - and Reese Witherspoon, a full-on movie star? Not bad! That’s what put Apple TV+ on the map, and since then, it’s been rolling out one high-profile drama after another. From mind-bending sci-fi like “Severance” and “Silo” to convincing auteur director Alfonso Cuarón to do his first ever TV show as writer and director for the platform in “Disclaimer,” Apple TV+ has carved out a niche as the streamer for prestige, high-concept storytelling with A-list talent. If you want TV shows that feel like event television, Apple TV+ is the place.

The acclaimed Apple TV+ sci-fi series Foundation has reportedly tapped Fear the Walking Dead writer Ian Goldberg to take over as showrunner of the show after David S. Goyer relinquished that duty last year. According to Deadline, the writers' room is already up and running for a potential Season 4 that would further adapt Isaac Asimov's sprawling literary space opera, even though the long-gestating third season does not yet have a release date.
Goyer stepped back from Foundation in February last year before production resuming on the show's third season amid reported conflicts over the budget for the lavish TV drama. The cameras started rolling again, with executive producer Bill Bost overseeing the remainder of the filming schedule to ensure that Season 3 wrapped, since the production had faced several setbacks and delays at this point.

Foundation on Apple TV+ brings Isaac Asimov's epic sci-fi series to life with a twist, focusing on the survival of the Galactic Empire. Important plot points from Foundation, like the destruction of Terminus and Gaal's vision of the future, set the stage for a compelling narrative. Stellar performances by Lou Llobell and Jared Harris in Foundation make it a must-watch sci-fi series of the 2020s, blending visuals and engaging storytelling.
When a TV show falls into the sci-fi and fantasy genres, the visual and narrative scenes are expected to be unforgettable, and Foundation easily archives this. The music in sci-fi films enhances the other-worldly nature of the stories and evokes emotions, such as wonder, mysticism, and excitement.
Science fiction movies and shows have boasted some of the most awe-inspiring, evocative soundtracks in film and television history. The sci-fi genre has encompassed some of the most inventive movies ever, from sprawling galactic epics to space exploration adventures to dystopian thrillers. These films capture the imagination and anxiety of humankind as it barrels into an age of increasingly complex technology, prompting the question of what purpose that technology will serve and whether humanity will use it to prosper or for its own destruction.

Characters who always speak their minds capture the audience's hearts, regardless of whether viewers agree with them. The reasons behind a character's lack of filter can vary, from a dislike of waiting around to a desire to be heard for the greater good. Honesty and bluntness make these characters stand out, and it often takes great actors to make them loveable despite their rudeness.
TV characters who always speak their minds tend to capture the hearts of their audience. Even if viewers don't agree with the blunt sentiment imparted by a character, they can at least respect their no-nonsense approach to communication. The reason behind a character's lack of ceremony often differs depending on factors, such as their backstory and the genre of the show in which they appear. If Lee Pace's slightly too-perfect smile in the picture above didn't give it away, then the news currently making its way around social media will. David S. Goyer's "Foundation" series, which recently wrapped up its second critically-acclaimed season this past September on Apple TV+ (you can read /Film's review by Joshua Meyer here), has officially been renewed for season 3. That means plenty more timeline-twisting, philosophical, and downright nerdy storytelling to come.
In no time at all, Apple TV+ has made itself a prime destination for well-received, original shows -- especially when it comes to the kind of sci-fi stories that, to put it frankly, likely wouldn't have struck most studio executives as "audience-friendly." The Apple TV+ adaptation of Isaac Asimov's Foundation series has made significant changes to several major characters, including Gaal Dornick, Salvor Hardin, and Eto Demerzel, by incorporating gender-swapping and reimagining their roles. The concept of the Emperor in Foundation has been transformed in the TV series, introducing the idea of a genetic dynasty and individuality within the monarch. This adds a new dimension to the story not found in Asimov's books. The TV series has introduced original elements, such as a terrorist attack on Trantor involving an orbital sky bridge and the brutal murder of Hari Seldon. These changes add drama and drive the narrative in unique ways not seen in the original books.

Warning! Spoilers ahead for Foundation season 2.
In Foundation season 2, one of Gaal's visions of the future ends up being wrong, with Salvor dying at the hands of a mentallic instead of the Mule. Showrunner David S. Goyer explains how this fits into larger themes of the show regarding whether the future is already set in stone or if it can be changed. The revelation that Gaal's visions aren't guaranteed could have interesting implications in season 3, particularly for characters who believe their fate is sealed.

One of the best things that showrunner David S. Goyer did with the second season of Foundation, is control the pace of an extremely cerebral science fiction show that has a bevy of different storylines developing at once. In the first season, it was clearly Brothers Day (Lee Pace) and Dusk (Terrence Mann) who were the villains ruling over the galaxy with a detached, iron fist. Now that Demerzel (Laura Birn) has essentially dismantled the Cleonic dynasty with her attempted coup in the season finale entitled, "Creation Myths", we are definitely going to need a new bad guy to be the yin to our protagonist yang. With Salvor Hardin dying, we lost our one true hero, and are left without a clear-cut good guy (or girl). Gaal Dornick (Lou Llobell) is probably the closest thing we have to a main character that we really want to see succeed because if Dr.

One of the events that may have surprised you in Foundation Season 2 was the fact that, all of a sudden, it seemed like Gaal Dornick's (Lou Llobell) visions are not necessarily predictions – even though they had felt pretty solid up until this point. In an interview with Collider's Therese Lacson, series creator David S. Goyer and Isaac Asimov’s daughter Robyn Asimov (who also executive produces Foundation) explained what’s different about Gaal’s visions, and what it means for the future of the series.

Season 2 of the AppleTV+ science fiction epic Foundation ended with a bang recently, and a handful of twists blew our minds. But now that the second batch of 10 episodes has come and gone, we still have some unanswered questions about almost all the main characters as we get ready for a third installment. What will Demerzel (Laura Birn) do now that she has come so close to overthrowing the Cleonic genetic dynasty and possesses the precious prime radiant on Trantor? To where will Brother Dawn (Cassian Bilton) and Sareth (Issa-Rae Smith) flee now that they have escaped Demerzel and she carries a potential heir to the Cleonic throne? Where and when will Gaal (Lou Llobell) and Dr. Hari Seldon (Jared Harris) emerge from a long cryo-stasis sleep? And how will they combat an eagerly awaiting character known only as "The Mule" who wants to kill Gael? All of these questions...

Foundation season 3 will feature a 150-year time jump, according to David S. Goyer, the co-creator and showrunner of the ambitious sci-fi series. Adapting Isaac Asimov's work poses challenges, and Goyer considers the massive time jump to be the hardest part of the adaptation process. The show has used time jumps before, starting with a 138-year leap in season 2, to work around the anthology nature of the source material and to introduce new characters and storylines.

Foundation's Lou Llobell recently unpacked the unconventional mother-daughter bond between her character, Gaal Dornick, and Salvor Hardin (Leah Harvey) in Season 2 of the Apple TV+ sci-fi show.
Llobell described Gaal and Salvor's "wild" relationship -- the result of the latter being older than the former due to cryo sleep-related plot mechanics -- in an interview with Collider. "The only good thing about it is that they've actually got each other in a situation where they have no one left... One of my favorite [Gaal/Salvor] scenes is the fruit scene. The fruit scene was such a sweet, cute, lovely scene that is so separate to the whole show, and it's such a tender moment," she said. Foundation, a complex sci-fi series on Apple TV+, fills the gap while fans wait for Dune: Part Two with its rich, expansive storytelling and comparable scale. Created by David S. Goyer and Josh Friedman for Apple TV+, and loosely based on the Foundation series of stories by seminal author Isaac Asimov, the plot is...complex. In the simplest terms, Foundation chronicles “the thousand-year saga of The Foundation, a band of exiles who discover that the only way to save the Galactic Empire from destruction is to defy it.”

`In the ever-evolving world of science fiction adaptations, Apple TV+'s series, Foundation, based on Isaac Asimov’s legendary novels, is a modern marvel that seamlessly bridges the narrative gap between the '50s and today's fast-paced era. While its inaugural season left viewers intrigued, the sophomore season deep-dives into the integral characters – the fierce and compelling women of Foundation.
Foundation, originally published in the 1950s, has always been a benchmark in science fiction literature. To adapt it for the current generation, maintaining its essence yet infusing contemporary appeal, is no less a Herculean task. Yet, Lee Pace's role as Day might have been the bait for many, but the real anchors, truly steering the ship, are the actresses who embody the powerful female characters of this series.
David S. Goyer, the series' showrunner, recently emphasized in a featurette the necessity of producing content that caters to an international audience.

"Never let your sense of morals prevent you from doing what's right." Apple has debuted a four-minute promo featurette for their epic sci-fi series Foundation, which is now in its Second Season streaming right now on Apple TV+. Even though I've posted many other trailers for this already, I'm happy to keep talking about it because Foundation is awesome. I've been watching episodes this summer and it continues to keep me captivated and invigorated - so many big sci-fi ideas in it. This promo video focuses on the many women of the Foundation series: Lou Llobell as Gaal Dornick; Leah Harvey as Salvor Hardin; Laura Birn as Demerzel, an android; Ella-Rae Smith as Queen Sareth; Isabella Laughland as Brother Constant; and Rachel House as Tellem Bond. The video also features commentary from the series' producers David S. Goyer along with director Alex Graves. It's nice to see them putting so...

Isaac Asimov's Foundation predicted humanity's incredible expansion into space and the emergence of the AI singularity, as well as forecasting the prevalence of cloning technology.
So, why hasn't anyone heard of it?
What's the Story?
It all started hundreds of years in the future with the fall of the anarchic Galactic Empire and the resolution to recreate society in a more streamlined and less chaotic fashion. This led to what the settlers attempted: a reclaiming of that which is human via the reformation of society, the arts, and across thousands of prospect planets – economy.
If this sounds vaguely like Frank Herbert's Dune, viewers weren't far off. But the fact that Asimov more accurately predicted prevalent if controversial technology made his series all the more realistic to 21st-century readers.
After Emperor Cleon left three versions of himself, the throne went unchallenged for generations, with Day taking over for Dawn, just...

This interview was conducted prior to the SAG-AFTRA strike.Foundation is quite literally one of the biggest, most ambitious television series of all time. From the start, creator David S. Goyer had an eight-season vision for the epic writings of Isaac Asimov, whose Foundation stories include dozens of major characters and a multitude of planets, political organizations, religious and scientific groups, and class statuses. The Apple TV+ adaptation is so vast, that the entire first season almost feels like a pilot episode, stacked with exposition.
Now the second season is airing, and it's clear that things are in motion. The world of Foundation is developing, and the new season begins with a major time jump that takes viewers 138 years after Hari Seldon's psychohistorian protégé, Gaal Dornick (Lou Llobell), went into cryosleep. Poly Verisof, who we saw in the opening scene of season one as a young boy, is...
