According to multiple reports, Pascal, who, while at Sony, brought the best-grossing Bond films to theaters with Casino Royale, Quantum of Solace, Spectre, and Skyfall, and Heyman, who sits at the head of the table for Warner’s Harry Potter franchise, could gain control of 007’s future after Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson step down.

Genre film lovers know Pascal as the mastermind of Sony’s animated Spider-Verse movies and the studio’s Spider-Man films, which starred Tom Holland as the friendly neighborhood wall-crawler. Pascal helped weave the web of Spider-Man: No Way Home, an event film that grossed $1.95 billion and became the seventh highest-grossing film ever.

Netflix obviously had the highest of hopes for Anthony and Joe Russo's feature adaptation of Simon Stålenhag's graphic novel "The Electric State." The sci-fi/action film's reported $320 million budget is the biggest in the streamer's history, and, if nothing else, its trailers promised massive visual spectacle worthy of a studio summer tentpole. With streaming sensations Chris Pratt and Millie Bobby Brown in the lead roles, it felt like "The Electric State" was a preordained, critic-proof smash.

It's probably fair to say Netflix wasn't expecting the onslaught of viciously negative reviews that greeted "The Electric State" prior to its March 14 debut. Critics really, really hated the movie (it currently holds a 15% rotten rating on Rotten Tomatoes), and it's possible this negative reaction impacted Netflix subscribers' desire to give the film a whirl at home. It's either that or they simply thought the movie looked profoundly uninteresting.

The James Bond franchise could be homing in on its new creative team with reports suggesting that Amazon have already engaged with two high-profile producers with a long history of working with big IPs to usher in the new era of Bond.

According to Puck, former Harry Potter producer David Heyman, and Amy Pascal, who worked on Tom Holland’s Spider-Man trilogy have been approached to take the creative helm of the franchise, and unless something goes terribly wrong, Amazon execs are said to be set on making this dream team the next keepers of the Bond flame.

As well as producing several Harry Potter movies, Heyman was part of the production team on Barbie and Wonka, while Pascal was previously involved in Daniel Craig’s Bond movies, making her an easy choice to step into the breach left by the long-term team of Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson.

As a post-apocalyptic story, 28 Years Later owes a lot to The Last of Us franchise. Returning screenwriter Alex Garland recently spoke with the series' co-showrunner and co-game creator Neil Druckmann about their respective IPs, revealing how each inspired the other in their own way.

Alex Garland is a fan of The Last of Us. The filmmaker recently revealed that he believes the HBO drama series to be better than his 2002 post-apocalyptic zombie movie 28 Days Later.

Per RegalMovies on X, an eerie new teaser for 28 Years Later dropped. The short 15-second teaser features white text over a red background reading "In 28 days It began," followed by "In 28 weeks it spread," ending ominously with "In 28 years it evolved." The teaser features the same 1915 Taylor Holmes recording of Rudyard Kipling's 1903 poem "Boots" used in the film's first trailer. 28 Years Later releases in theaters on June 20th of this year.

28 Years Later will be the third entry in the post-apocalyptic horror film series, starting with the original 2002 film 28 Days Later and later the 2007 film 28 Weeks Later. The director of the original 2002 film, Danny Boyle, returns to the zombie film alongside other series veterans, including screenwriter Alex Garland and actor Cillian Murphy.
