White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre gave her final press briefing to reporters Wednesday afternoon, and the last of the administration.
Marking her 306th time at the briefing room lectern, Jean-Pierre took a moment from the day’s big news, the ceasefire deal reached between Israel and Hamas, to reflect on her tenure.
“As I said during my first briefing when I took over this role, we might not see eye to eyes here in this room all the time, and that is okay,” she told reporters. “The give and take that happens here is incredibly healthy, and it is part of our democracy. I have been honored to partake in it with all of you — well, most of the time.”

Leavitt was the national press secretary during Trump’s recent campaign, and served as assistant press secretary in the first term.
At age 27, Leavitt will be the youngest White House press secretary in history.
Trump said in a statement, “Karoline Leavitt did a phenomenal job as the National Press Secretary on my Historic Campaign, and I am pleased to announce she will serve as White House Press Secretary. Karoline is smart, tough, and has proven to be a highly effective communicator. I have the utmost confidence she will excel at the podium, and help deliver our message to the American People as we, Make America Great Again.”
The role is especially scrutinized under Trump, who went through four press secretaries in his first term: Sean Spicer, Sarah Huckabee Sanders, Stephanie Grisham and Kayleigh McEnany.

As Donald Trump’s allies continue to whitewash the former president’s affinity for authoritarian styles of governance, severalf ex-Trump administration officials are publicly affirming the warning given by former White House Chief of Staff John Kelly earlier this week: Trump will govern like a dictator.
This week, Kelly went on the record and told The New York Times that Trump is a textbook fascist, and would rule like a dictator if reelected. In a separate interview with The Atlantic, he expanded on his past recollections of Trump expressing admiration...

If the past is prologue, then HBO's new documentary feature, Stopping the Steal, is a sobering cautionary tale about the upcoming 2024 Presidential Election. Released on the premium cabler on September 17, 2024, the eye-opening documentary chronicles former U.S. President Donald Trump's brazen attempt to hijack the democratic process after failing to concede losing the 2020 Presidential Election to Joe Biden.
Told from the perspective of several former Trump employees, advisors, and cabinet members, Stopping the Steal recounts one of the ugliest chapters in American political history as a means of preventing such from occurring again in the upcoming 2024 election. For those Americans who feel a civic obligation to keep democracy alive and well, the must-watch documentary is a call to action to ensure the next presidential election remains fair and that the outcome, however favorable or unfavorable, is accepted as completely credible.

The former president’s wife, Melania Trump, made a rare public appearance when pictures were captured of her arrival at Trump Tower in New York City on Wednesday while her husband was at a rally in North Carolina.
Melania, 54, was photographed entering the iconic Manhattan skyscraper, dressed in a black-and-white striped midi dress from designer Adam Lippes, cinched with a Michael Kors belt. One of her garment bags was embroidered with the word “Flotus,” a nod to her former role as the First Lady of the United States. The former fashion model was accompanied by her Secret Service detail, and doormen were seen loading her luxurious Louis Vuitton luggage onto a trolley as she made her way into the building.
Melania’s public appearance comes as a surprise since she has been absent from nearly all of Trump’s campaign rallies throughout the run; however, she did attend the RNC in July.

Former Trump White House spokesperson Stephanie Grisham delivered a scathing denunciation of her former boss Donald Trump at the 2024 Democratic National Convention.
The Democratic National Convention (DNC) kicked off in Chicago on Monday night and continued on Tuesday with speeches from former President Barack Obama and former First Lady Michelle Obama, Second Gentleman Doug Emhoff and more.
In her speech, Grisham, once a devoted Trump supporter, shed light on the former president’s true character and painted a picture of a destructive leader who lacked all empathy and morals.

The speeches from Barack and Michelle Obama were the highlight of the second night of the Democratic National Convention, but also the first-of-its-kind, well-produced ceremonial roll call, set to a DJ’s jam.
In the arena lit with color changing blinking lights, there was Lil Jon, taking off in a surprise rap when Georgia was called to cast its votes for Kamala Harris; Sean Astin paying homage to Rudy as Indiana announced its tally; and Spike Lee appearing with the New York delegation as its governor boasted of the Empire State’s supremacy.
Then there was Wisconsin, a key battleground state, and its governor, Tony Evers, surrounded by delegates wearing cheesehead hats. As he started to trumpet his state, telling the arena that he was here “because I’m jazzed as hell,” he tripped up in announcing the tally for Kamala Harris.

Former President Barack Obama, former First Lady Michelle Obama and Second Gentleman Doug Emhoff are among the speakers scheduled for the second night of the Democratic National Convention, while organizers are pledging changes to try to prevent delays.
The first night’s lineup ran into delays, to the point that President Joe Biden’s speech got pushed out of primetime on the East Coast, and finished after that key time period in the Central time zone. The delays occurred even as some parts of the lineup, including a performance by James Taylor, were scrapped.
Alex Hornbrook executive director of the Democratic National Convention Committee, said that they made “some real-time schedule adjustments last night” and that they were making some “other adjustments this evening, including beginning at 5:30 to make sure that we stay on track for that tonight.”

“Where’s Melania” became a consistent question from the press for some months now; however, it looks like she’s allegedly had a change of heart where Donald Trump’s presidential campaign is concerned.
It seems that she’s now “all in” when it comes to his bid to once again become the next U.S. President, and according to one source, everyone will see her on the campaign trail a lot more.
A “Much Different” Melania Trump
Republican Party insiders revealed to Page Six that since the recent Florida fundraiser, a very different Melania Trump has arrived on the scene.
In fact, the inside source notes that Melania surfaced as the main star at the Republican fundraiser that took place at John Paulson’s $100-million Palm Beach house.
They note that her usual “serious” demeanor had vanished, and Melania seemingly never stopped smiling while being talkative and charming to all guests.

If you ever looked at the actions of the Trump White House and wondered, ‘Are they on drugs?’ — the answer was, in some cases, yes. Absolutely, yes.
In January, the Defense Department’s inspector general released a report detailing how the White House Medical Unit during the Trump administration distributed controlled substances with scant oversight and even sloppier record keeping. Investigators repeatedly noted that the unit had ordered thousands and thousands of doses of the stimulant modafinil, which has been used by military pilots for decades to stay alert during long missions.

Regardless of your feelings toward him, one thing is certain: Donald Trump has actually succeeded in reviving our political interest in the country. Sure, the 45th president of the United States can be bold and forthright at times, and he occasionally does things that are highly offensive and wholly inappropriate, but he is not at all ‘boring’.
He holds nothing back when discussing subjects, which draws you in, compels you to listen, and causes you to think about ideas you might not have otherwise. However, in one of his previous dinner outings with his wife (Melania Trump), the former president became the hot topic of discussion yet again. While dining at a high-end restaurant, onlookers could not help but notice Trump’s immature behavior, which resembled that of a toddler playing with an iPad.

Rep. George Santos (R-NY) was expelled from Congress today, as enough Republicans joined with Democrats to oust the lawmaker who is facing criminal charges and a devastating ethics committee report.
The House vote came after GOP leaders announced their opposition to his ouster. That raised the prospect that he could survive the vote. But in the end, there were 311 votes to expel, well clearing the 2/3 threshold needed: 105 Republicans and 206 Democrats voted to oust him; 112 Republicans and two Democrats voted against the resolution. Two Democrats also voted present.
Santos, wearing a coat over his shoulders, left the House chamber before the vote was made official. With reporters chasing him, he got in a waiting car and left Capitol grounds. According to CNN, he said, “Why would I want to stay here? To hell with this place.”

Melania Trump had “quietly” renegotiated her prenup with Donald Trump – for the third time.
As has long been rumored, Melania has been in a tough negotiation with her husband to improve the conditions of her agreement with the notoriously stingy ex-president.
Page Six reports that this was not only specifically because of Trump, 77, potentially serving a second term in the White House but also due to his recent legal battles.
These legal troubles include potential payouts in New York Attorney General Letitia James’ (D-New York) $240 million civil case against Trump and his real estate business, and the court order for him to pay $5 million to E. Jean Carrol for defamation.
Trump pleaded not guilty to James’ case and is currently in the damages phase of Carroll’s second defamation case against him.

His dalliance with content connected to QAnon — the deranged pro-Trump conspiracy theory that features tales of powerful Democrats running a pedophilic secret society — has gone from a game of footsie to what appears to be an open embrace. But if you ask members of the ex-president’s inner orbit why this is happening now, you get a mix of responses, including abject confusion.

Chelsea Handler knows that it’s been a busy week of revelations about the Jan. 6 insurrection. And while much of it has surrounded “Donald Trump’s totally psychotic behavior,” as she put it, that day, the “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” guest host turned her attention Wednesday to his wife, Melania Trump.
“We also got a glimpse at Melania’s awfulness,” Handler said of the ongoing Jan. 6 Committee hearings, citing a text message exchange between Melania Trump and her former chief of staff Stephanie Grisham.

MsNBC Makes It Official: Jen Psaki To Join Network In Fall, Will Host New Show For Streaming Channel
Jen Psaki will join MSNBC this fall, as the network made the official announcement of her plans following her tenure as White House press secretary.
Psaki will appear across all the network’s programs, and also will have a role on NBC and during MSNBC’s primetime election coverage during the midterms and the 2024 presidential election. MSNBC said that she also is developing a program for the network’s streaming channel.
News of Psaki’s move to MSNBC leaked in April, as she was still press secretary, but she declined to confirm it publicly. She held her last White House press briefing on May 13.
Her move to MSNBC is not unusual, as there has been a revolving door between presidential administrations and cable news gigs. Symone Sanders, who served as chief spokesperson to Vice President Kamala Harris, recently launched an MSNBC weekend show, Symone, that also appears on the network’s Peacock streaming channel.

The hosts of “The View” may wholeheartedly support and encourage people masking up in public areas, but that doesn’t mean they support snitching on those who don’t. In fact, on Friday’s show, the table mostly condemned NPR’s attempt to create what the women called a “snitch hotline.”
In a memo sent out on Thursday, NPR informed their employees that a tip line has been created for anyone who wants to express “anonymous concern” about co-workers who aren’t masking up in the office, as Covid cases begin to rise again. And for the most part, the hosts of “The View” were not fans of the idea.
“I would never do that,” Joy Behar said. “I’m Italian, we don’t snitch. We don’t snitch.”
Both Sara Haines and guest host Dan Abrams called the idea “ridiculous” as well, with Abrams arguing, “We’re at a different point in Covid now.

Jen Psaki held her 224th and final briefing as White House press secretary on Friday and fought back tears as she thanked President Joe Biden, members of the administration and the press staff.
Karine Jean-Pierre, who has served as principal deputy press secretary, will succeed Psaki, who has been in the role for the past 15 months.
In remarks on her tenure, Psaki recounted meeting with Biden and Jill Biden shortly after the election and being “very nervous” when she went to see them.
“Really what we talked about for the majority of our conversation was the importance of returning integrity, respect and civility to the White House,” Psaki said. “The small sliver of my job here and in engaging with all of you, that does not mean that we haven’t let our Irish side show — mine and the president’s as well from time to time. I recognize that.

Near the beginning of Donald Trump’s time in office, the then-president had a pressing question for his national-security aides and administration officials: Does China have the secret technology — a weapon, even — to create large, man-made hurricanes and then launch them at the United States? And if so, would this constitute an act of war by a foreign power, and could the U.S. retaliate militarily? Then-President Trump repeatedly asked about this, according to two former senior administration officials and a third person briefed on the matter.

In January of last year, “The View” host Sunny Hostin revealed that both of her in-laws died from Covid. And on Thursday, the host says she and her family have seriously considered legal action against the Trump administration because of it.
During the morning’s Hot Topics discussion, the panel of women discussed how a recent interview Dr. Anthony Fauci did with Chris Wallace, in which he noted that it was “painful” trying to spread truthful Covid information while Trump was president. The hosts of “The View” argued that Fauci he became a “scapegoat.”
Guest host and ex-Trump press secretary Stephanie Grisham also admitted that she was actively prevented from handling official White House communications on Covid at one point.

“The View” hosts were particularly on edge Wednesday morning, and by midshow they erupted into an all-out yelling match. This time, the topic of discussion was U.S. immigration policy.
As the women discussed the topic, guest host and former Trump White House Press Secretary Stephanie Grisham noted that, because she lived in Arizona for two decades, she doesn’t believe the U.S. should have open borders.
“In the previous administration — I’ll just say it that way — we had a zero tolerance, ‘You need to go back, and you need to come into this country legally,’ which I agree with,” Grisham said. “I think that this country, mostly, agrees that Dreamers need a path to citizenship. People are welcome here with open arms, as long as they come here legally. But when people are just able to cross the borders willy-nilly, there’s also a criminal element.”

‘The View’ Host Whoopi Goldberg Calls Out Elon Musk for ‘Dangerous’ Tesla Roadside Assistance Issues
Whoopi Goldberg had a bone to pick with Elon Musk and Tesla cars on Tuesday. During the morning’s episode of “The View,” the host called out Tesla’s current roadside assistance program, and implored Elon Musk to create a better one.
According to Goldberg, she had some trouble while driving her Tesla on Monday, and discovered that the electric vehicles don’t provide drivers with a spare tire (nor do they come with run-flats). She also noted that Tesla tells its users to email the company if they need support, rather than being able to talk to someone directly.
So, Goldberg took a moment to call out to Tesla CEO Elon Musk directly.
“It seems like a crazy problem. But the truth of the matter is, had this happened to me on top of a road on some mountain, I would be very frightened,” Whoopi said. “And you, Elon,...

During the second segment of the show, Navarro asked guest host Stephanie Grisham, who worked in multiple roles in the Trump administration, why it took so long for her to resign. Host Sunny Hostin asked the same question earlier this week, prompting Grisham to double down on her answer.

In her second day guest hosting “The View,” former Trump press secretary Stephanie Grisham opened up about why she stuck around in his administration as long as she did. Then, she outright apologized.
In the first “Hot Topics” discussion of the day, the panel of women dug in on recent convictions and sentencing of those involved with the January 6 insurrection at the Capitol. The hosts then turned to Grisham, asking point blank if she knew about the events of the day in advance.
Grisham said she didn’t, but admitted she had a “feeling” something was up. As the conversation progressed, host Sunny Hostin got a bit blunt.
“I have to ask, why did it take an insurrection to get you to quit?” she questioned.
“It’s a great, fair question,” Grisham responded. “I tried to resign many times. When I got to the West Wing, I realized it was a really bad environment.

Mike Pence’s office is cooperating the the Jan. 6 committee.
Axios reported on Wednesday that “many” figures around the former vice president have voluntarily testified, including his former chief of staff, Marc Short, and his former press secretary, Alyssa Farrah. Keith Kellogg, Pence’s national security adviser who was subpoenaed by the committee in November, also gave a deposition.
One of Axios’ sources said that neither Short nor Kellogg would have cooperated without first getting the green light from Pence himself.
Short, Farrah, and Kellogg aren’t the only staffers to cooperate.

Stephen Colbert doesn’t always want to talk about Donald Trump, whom Colbert called “Scrooge McSchmuck” on Tuesday night, but sometimes the news forces him to engage with the former president. On the latest episode of “The Late Show,” the news was about former White House press secretary Stephanie Grisham’s gossipy new tell-all book. Grisham worked in the White House for almost all of Donald Trump’s presidency, only resigning after the Jan. 6 insurrection, and she infamously never gave one single press conference during her nine-month tenure as press secretary. Hope Hicks, one of President Trump’s longtime advisers and former Fox. Corp. communications chief, has departed the White House, according to CNN. Her last day was reportedly Tuesday.
Reports of her pending exit first emerged on Jan. 8. Hicks did not respond to Variety‘s request for comment.
