It’s well-documented that Simone Biles doesn’t really like that athletes are bombarded with questions about “what’s next” in the moments after they’ve achieved their lifelong dreams.
But as she pondered her future after winning gold medals at the 2024 Olympics, and further cementing her legacy as the greatest gymnast of all time, a path began to emerge — toward entertainment.
“Whether I like it or not, I’ve been around the entertainment space for basically my whole professional career. If you asked me when I was younger, I wanted to be a nurse. I wanted to help people. I wanted to be out in the community,” Biles tells Variety about her decision to join the board of Religion of Sports (Ros), the media company founded by NFL legends Tom Brady and Michael Strahan and Emmy-winning documentarian Gotham Chopra.

Greatness Code is a multi-season sports docuseries and there is an easy way to stream the show for free. Sports documentaries may be one of the most popular genres of documentary. Thanks in part to ESPN's 30 for 30 series, sports documentaries have been an ever-present part of the cable landscape, and now they've moved onto streaming. HBO and Netflix have long been the sports doc champs with Drive to Survive, Hard Knocks, and Last Chance U, providing fascinating and sometimes moving insights into the worlds of professional and semi-professional sports.
Apple TV+ is a new streaming platform on the scene and though it's often behind its contemporaries when it comes to producing content, what it does end up producing has steadily been increasing in quality. They began dabbling in sports documentaries with Greatness Code, a short-form sports documentary series that premiered in 2020, with the second season coming in 2022. Each episode...

With women’s sports continuing to receive less than 20% of media coverage, Religion of Sports, Ensemble, and Deep Blue Sports + Entertainment are setting out to address a gap in the market with Next Is Now, an anthology slate that will stream for free on The Roku Channel later this year.
A mix of docuseries and short-form content tailored for TV, streaming platforms, and social media, Next Is Now‘s initial programming includes The Fastest Six Weeks in Sports, a series documenting the intense period between the NCAA Women’s Basketball Tournament and the start of the WNBA season, which will follow top draft prospects and veteran athletes as they transition through this high-stakes window.
Religion of Sports, the award-winning media company founded by Tom Brady, Michael Strahan, and Gotham Chopra, will lead production, with Issa Rae’s next-gen branded entertainment company Ensemble focusing on social media content creation and distribution.

Aaron Rodgers: Enigma, a new Netflix docuseries about the great and apparently greatly misunderstood NFL quarterback, begins with a tattoo. After the Green Bay Packers trade him in early 2023 to the New York Jets, Rodgers decides to change his jersey number from 12 to 8, which in turn inspires him to get the tat: a dragon eating its own tail while curled into the shape of an infinity symbol.
“Eight sideways is infinity,” Rodgers explains as his left biceps is inked. “So, definitely wanted the infinity symbol. Then I woke up...

The new Netflix docuseries Aaron Rodgers: Enigma drops on Tuesday, December 17, and the timing could be better. Sure, the quarterback's New York Jets finally won another game in Week 15 of the NFL season, and Rodgers has played well for two straight games, but overall, his team has been an extreme disappointment in 2024 and so has the Qb.
In fact, that Netflix is still releasing a docuseries about Rodgers only emphasizes his gravitational pull. He is ancient now for a professional quarterback at 41 years old, and it has been several years since he was anywhere near the best among his position group. Still, he has made enough waves away from the field that he maintains his newsworthiness.
This is, smartly, where Aaron Rodgers: Enigma focuses. Instead of focusing on his recent poor play, the series watches as the quarterback espouses (and misleads in one specific area) some views that are different from many.

"Is it time for him to retire?" Yes. Netflix has revealed an official trailer for a new sports documentary series called Aaron Rodgers: Enigma, arriving on Netflix for streaming this month. Follow NFL quarterback Aaron Rodgers' comeback with the New York Jets and also his life off the field, including his advocacy for ayahuasca, a psychedelic brew. The series is co-directed by acclaimed sports filmmakers Gotham Chopra & Liam Hughes (of Destination NBA: A G League Odyssey). The Netflix sports series with 3 full episodes will follow Aaron Rodgers’ comeback after tearing his Achilles, while also exploring his life and career through the intimate and difficult parts that made him a household name on and off the field. Chronicling the defining moments of his life & career. I don't think he should be celebrated for being an anti-vaxxer, as this is ridiculous. But this is framed more as a sports doc and his...

The outspoken quarterback will do it with a Netflix greenlight in his pocket.
The streamer has ordered docuseries Aaron Rodgers: Enigma, which will follow Rodgers’ comeback, which kicks off at Levi’s Stadium as the Jets take on the San Francisco 49ers.

In the trailer, which you’ll be able to see above shortly, Rodgers talks about both his approach to quarterback play, as well as the events of that night at MetLife Stadium.

One of the NFL’s biggest names is getting the Netflix sports treatment.
Aaron Rodgers, a four-time league Mvp and quarterback of the New York Jets, will be the subject of a three-hour docuseries on the streamer. Aaron Rodgers: Enigma is set to premiere Dec. 17 — eight days before Netflix takes its biggest leap into live sports with two NFL games on Christmas Day (though neither one involves the Jets).
The Rodgers series is one of several sports projects Netflix announced Monday: It has also picked up a third season of Full Swing, which follows golfers on the PGA Tour, and ordered a new slate of documentaries under the Untold banner. Among the subjects for the latter in 2025 will be the notorious locker-room gun incident involving Washington Wizards players Gilbert Arenas and Javaris Crittenton; the beef and cheating accusations between chess grandmasters Hans Niemann and Magnus Carlsen; and a steroid scandal...

WNBA games and a NCAA women’s basketball tournament aren’t the only tools Disney has in its arsenal to attract advertisers hoping to expand support of women’s sports.
Starting July 10, the entertainment giant will launch “In The Arena: Serena Williams,” a new eight-part miniseries that chronicles the tennis legend’s long career, including perspective from the subject herself as well as that from key figures in her life. The program is backed by Morgan Stanley, which serves as a presenting sponsor of the series, and Tj Maxx and Heineken, which have come on board as associate sponsors.
With its sponsorship, Morgan Stanley sees a chance to throw a bigger spotlight on women’s sports overall, says Alice Milligan, the company’s chief marketing officer. The category only gets a small investment from advertisers, she says, yet is expected to become a more than $1 billion industry, according to a recent report from Deloitte.

At its core, documentary filmmaking is an intimate process. The filmmakers are asking their subjects to bring their truest selves to the table — and that can be difficult when those subjects are rock stars who are used to being asked probing questions.
“These music groups who have been around forever, they have the pat answer. They’ve been asked the same question a million times,” said director Frank Marshall, whose latest documentary “The Beach Boys,” chronicles the group’s six decades in the spotlight. “You have to spend the time with them and get their trust in order for them to dig down under and get the real authentic answers.”

Forty years after putting down the Power Station broom and picking up the microphone, Jon Bon Jovi is in an introspective mood.

When you think of iconic hair bands, you probably think of Bon Jovi. The band behind hits like “You Give Love a Bad Name,” fronted by singer and eponymous frontman Jon Bon Jovi, is responsible for much of the image people associate with typical 1980s rock and roll, along with bands like Twisted Sister, Mötley Crüe, and Poison. Whether you’re a die-hard fan of the band or simply remember “Wanted Dead or Alive” from Rock of Ages, Hulu and director Gotham Chopra have arrived with a new documentary about the band’s history: Thank You, Goodnight: The Bon Jovi Story.

Here is an incomplete list of people who might really enjoy Hulu’s Thank You, Goodnight: The Bon Jovi Story: Longtime Bon Jovi fans, who know this story by heart but love it enough to want to hear it again. More recent converts, eager to fill in the gaps of their knowledge. Individuals who are deeply invested in Jon Bon Jovi as a person, and wondering how he’s been. Jon himself, presumably — though the frontman has stressed that he did not have final cut, director Gotham Chopra has assembled a portrait as reverent as any celebrity might reasonably hope for.
Everyone else — the casual listeners, the total newbies, the gossips and (at least in my case) the critics — can probably keep walking. Thank You, Goodnight is a perfectly nice retrospective, approachable and amiable and affectionate. But that’s not the same thing as saying it’s a particularly insightful one.

Bon Jovi have announced a new album, Forever, out June 7th via Island Records. As a preview, the band has unveiled the video for its lead single, “Legendary.”
The pop-country-tinged track is anthemic and positive, fueled by major chords, “whoa-oh” choruses, and Jon Bon Jovi’s charismatic presence. Jon Bon Jovi is a rare hairband frontman who has been able to extend his hit music career beyond the 80s metal rock era.
