"Star Trek: The Animated Series," originally just called "Star Trek," debuted on September 8, 1973. It will soon be commemorating its 50th anniversary. To celebrate, as announced at this year's San Diego Comic Con, Paramount will be newly animating several "Star Trek" characters and tapping extant "Star Trek" actors to produce several promotional bumpers in the old "Tas" style. Jonathan Frakes will play Commander William Riker in one such bumper, Armin Shimerman will return to play Quark in another, while Doug Jones will appear as Saru from "Star Trek: Discovery."

The announcement was given by "Star Trek" creative consultant Casper Kelly, who previously worked on "Star Trek: Short Treks."

Marvel Studios' Secret Invasion is weeks away from landing on Disney+, but the series still remains largely a mystery. However, because the comic book event the series takes its name from featured the entire roster of A-list heroes, fans are expecting to see plenty of recognizable heroes. However, Secret Invasion will be a better series without a bunch of Marvel Cinematic Universe cameos getting in the way. Marvel Studios released the first five minutes of Secret Invasion after a social media marketing stunt reminiscent of the online augmented reality games of the early 2000s. The scene features a new character, Richard Dormer's Agent Prescott, talking to Martin Freeman's Agent Everett Ross. Or is he? It's a fair question after Prescott tackles him at the end of the clip.

After the scene, another trailer plays, including a line from Olivia Coleman's character asking why Nick Fury doesn't call his super-powered friends.

A new clip from the upcoming Disney+ mini series “Secret Invasion” was released online Thursday, and in addition to the espionage-related paranoia and suspicion featured in the clip itself, it also gave fans a chance to do some spycraft of their own just to watch the thing.

The clip — what feels like an entire scene from the show, featuring Martin Freeeman as ex-CIA agent Everett Ross — wasn’t posted to YouTube or on Twitter. Instead, Marvel Studios’ official Twitter account asked fans to decipher a mystery board that revealed a password to the site “theinvasionhasbegun.com,” allowing them to unlock an “encrypted” file on the site.

The latest poster for Scream VI is full of franchise easter eggs. The upcoming sequel to 2022's Scream sees Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett return to the director’s chair, with James Vanderblit and Gary Busick returning to write the screenplay. Franchise alum Courteney Cox will reprise her role as Gale Weathers, with Hayden Panettiere returning as Kirby Reed for the first time since 2011's Scream 4. In a stinging rebuke of the Art Directors Guild and Chuck Parker, its national executive director, an Nlrb administrative law judge has found that Parker “unlawfully” fired the guild’s longtime accountant “in retaliation” for her successful efforts to form a union among the guild’s staff.

In a statement to Deadline, the guild said that “This is an ongoing matter and will be appealed.”

Nicole Oeuvray, who had been the guild’s head accountant for 16 years, was a leader of the campaign to unionize the guild’s staff back in 2019 under the auspices of Local 537 of the Office of Professional Employees International Union (Opeiu). The 3,500-member guild, which is one of only three IATSE locals with national jurisdiction, is headquartered in Studio City, Ca. with an office staff of fewer than 30 employees. VFX giant Dneg has promoted Erika Burton to join its Dneg Animation arm as its new president. Burton will share both the president title and leadership responsibilities with Dneg Animation President Tom Jacomb.

Burton, who was previously president, VFX Production at Dneg, joins as the company is rapidly expanding its animation team. Her focus will be on production, resource management, training and operations, working closely with Jacomb, who will focus on creative, client management and outreach, and the development of IP and original content.

The news was announced Wednesday at the Annecy International Animated Film Festival.
