The world of entertainment is not just a fairyland for actors, directors, and screenwriters to unleash their creativity but it is also a highly competitive field where projects often end up dead before they can even take flight. While one cannot miss what they have never seen, it certainly hurts when a project is taken off air due to one or the other reason. And that is exactly the case for Life & Beth and the millions of fans of the series.

Amy Schumer and Jennifer Lawrence's long-awaited sister comedy is unlikely to ever come to fruition. The two actresses had revealed in 2015 they were writing a screenplay for a movie in which they'd play sisters but now the 'Trainwreck' star thinks too much time has passed for the project to work.Speaking to Variety for their Power of Women issue, she said: “I don’t think it will ever happen. It was just, like, life kept going. My family was going through a rough time. I don’t want to say any more than that.”Jennifer, 33, agreed: “Now that we’re older, a sister comedy might not resonate as much."But the pair still want to do something together.Amy, 42, said: “The way we’re hoping our careers go, we might do something with more grit and teeth.”Her friend added: "We have every intention of working together.

Amy Schumer is entirely on-brand in an interview, which is to say utterly without pretense. She’s free of makeup, her blonde hair tied up behind her head and wearing a T-shirt that reads “Ask Your Mom.” It’s how she likes to present to the world, whether it be in her career or personal lives (which often tend to intersect). She’s here on Zoom to talk about the 10-episode second season of her semi-autobiographical Hulu romantic dramedy “Life and Beth,” during which she fictionally, but pointedly, addresses two subjects close to her heart: her Judaism and her real-life husband’s autism spectrum disorder, or Asd. This kind of candor is simply what she does. “I’ve always been like this,” she explains. “I don’t really know why. I think I’ve just always had a low threshold for small talk and so I can’t really help it.

“I feel reborn,” she told Jessica Yellin in the journalist’s News Not Noise newsletter. The actress went on to explain, “There are a few types of Cushing. Some that can be fatal, require brain surgery or removal of adrenal glands.”
Schumer said she was doing press for her Life & Beth season two, the Hulu series she created and stars in, while also undergoing extensive medical testing, “in Mri machines four hours at a time, having my veins shut down from the amount of blood drawn and thinking I may not be around to see my son grow up.”

With Life & Beth season two, Amy Schumer is no longer worried about spoilers. After all, this story is in the details.
The follow-up season to her semi-autobiographical Hulu dramedy, which launched all 10 episodes on Thursday, centers on the romantic relationship between Beth (Schumer) and John (played by Michael Cera), who — as the trailer revealed — get married early on in the new season. As the season progresses, Beth starts to notice certain behaviors in John and suggests that they check them out, together. Early in their marriage, John is diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder (Asd).
According to Schumer, talking about John’s diagnosis on the day that the new season launches will not ruin the viewing experience. “They really put everything in the trailer, which at first I was like, ‘Um, excuse me?'” recalls the creator, writer and director with a laugh. “And they were like, ‘Well, it will...

Comedian Amy Schumer called out Kanye West‘s recent antisemitic remarks during her Nov. 5 Saturday Night Live monologue.
Schumer addressed the rapper while joking about her husband, Chris Fischer‘s, recent autism spectrum disorder diagnosis.
“It used to be called Asperger’s, but then they found out — this is true — that Dr. Asperger had Nazi ties, Kanye,” the I Feel Pretty star quipped.
In a since-deleted Oct. 8 tweet, the Donda rapper threatened “to go death con 3 On Jewish People.” He added, “You guys have toyed with me and tried to black ball anyone who ever opposes your agenda.”
Schumer isn’t the only celebrity who has denounced West’s antisemitic remarks over the past month.
Jewish actress and activist Jamie Lee Curtis responded on Twitter, “The holiest day in Judaism was last week. Words matter. A threat to Jewish people ended once in a genocide.”

“I can’t. I can’t handle it. He’s too cute. He’s too cute and he’s talking so much,” Schumer said. “And he’s a supreme athlete, just [for] any recruiters. People go, ‘Who works out? Where does he get it from?’ I’m like ‘What do you mean?'”
Schumer, who attended Tuesday’s event with Fischer, was excited to finally debut new episodes of her show after a six-year hiatus.
“Has it really been six years? Oh my gosh,” Schumer said. “I only want to say something if I feel like it can actually be funny and helpful. I...

It’s difficult being a mom on the road for Amy Schumer.
The comedian spoke with The New Yorker about her upcoming “Whore Tour” which will see her touring 42 U.S. cities for a few months. While she was looking forward to it, she couldn’t help the feeling of guilt as a mother as she prepared to set off.
“I always want to cancel everything, and I always try,” Schumer told the outlet on the morning her tour began. “The thing that weighs on me is being away.”

Amy Schumer ran into some unexpected trouble with her doula Domino Kirke. If you remember, back in May 2019, the Expecting Amy star and her husband Chris Fischer welcomed their first child together, a baby boy named Gene, with the help of Domino. However, Amy admitted that she ended up letting go of Domino shortly after giving birth because she was simply too lovely. "Domino is like a goddess. She's an actual floating siren around the house," Amy told Domino's husband Penn Badgely, on the June 22 episode of the Podcrushed podcast. "She's so like, just lovely and when she touches you just kind of melt. And she was really a family member....

Amy Schumer unveiled the joke that she wasn’t permitted to tell at this year’s Oscars ceremony during a Friday stand-up show for Netflix’s comedy festival. And, no, it wasn’t another one about Alec Baldwin.
“I don’t know why they said no,” Schumer begins in the clip posted to Instagram, right before she launches into the joke that utilized the titles of a bunch of Oscar-nominated films.
“So my husband was going down on me… or as he calls it, ‘Squid Game,'” she said. “So… he’s in my ‘Nightmare Alley,’ my ‘House of Gucci,’ and I say ‘C’mon C’mon,’ you know?” she continued, name-checking some of the past year’s awards-circuit films. “He goes ‘tick, tick… Boom!’ He ‘Belfast.’ I say, Get off my ‘Dune’! And that’s how our son was born.”
“What do you think?” she asked the cheering audience.

“The show gets immediately into some really emotionally charged stories that were really personal to me,” production designer Joshua Petersen shares about what drew him to Hulu’s “Life and Beth,” which was created by and stars Amy Schumer. The series toggles between present-day Manhattan, where Schumer’s character Beth works as a wine distributor, and 1990s Long Island in flashbacks to Beth’s adolescence. Those flashbacks really appealed to Petersen, who relished the opportunity to capture “the life and color of childhood” and create “an interesting palate and an arc and a through line.” Watch our exclusive video interview above.
“Life and Beth” draws a lot of its inspiration from Schumer’s own life, and Petersen talks about collaborating closely with her to accurately recreate her past for the series. “Right from the beginning, I came back to New York to start and she had left flowers and a...

For a few years in the mid-2010s, Amy Schumer was as prominent and acclaimed a comic voice as there was to be found anywhere in American pop culture. Her Comedy Central show Inside Amy Schumer wickedly parodied the television of the day. (Josh Charles came in for note-perfect spoofs of both Friday Night Lights and The Newsroom, the latter “bestowed upon you by Aaron Sorkin.”) It dug deep on the strange and terrible ways society could view women, or that women could view themselves, whether in the implied homoeroticism...

Frankly, some are glad she left the spotlight, but relax, everyone: there’s a legitimate reason Schumer hasn’t been around very much the last few years. Schumer married chef Chris Fischer in 2018, then had a child with him in 2019, and then, you know, Covid happened. So, no surprise that Schumer’s family life took precedence over her career recently.

When Amy Schumer first discovered she was pregnant, she could never have predicted the tough road the pregnancy would take her on, much less that it would be the subject of a three-part documentary miniseries for HBO Max.
The comedian was in the throes of preparing a comedy special when she was struck with hyperemesis gravidarum, a hugely debilitating condition that affects around 1% of pregnant women, meaning they experience prolonged and severe nausea and vomiting beyond the first trimester. From hospitalizations, to performing in front of crowds of thousands, to moments at home with her husband Chris Fischer, Schumer shares it all in Expecting Amy.
“Once I started getting really sick, I think [filming] was a defense mechanism that made me feel like I was in some sort of control since I had no control over my body,” Schumer said, speaking during a virtual panel at Deadline’s Contenders Television: Documentary + Unscripted awards-season event.

Five months into the coronavirus pandemic, and Television Academy voters already seem to be over the plethora of remotely produced content created during, and in response to, the new social-distancing health and safety guidelines. Only one such program, Food Network’s “Amy Schumer Learns to Cook: Lunch Break and Pasta Night,” scored a nomination at the 72nd Annual Primetime Emmy Awards.

In June, two perennial Food Network shows, Guy Fieri’s “Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives” and Robert Irvine’s “Restaurant: Impossible,” went back into production. It was the first time either show shot on location since the coronavirus pandemic brought all television and film production to a dramatic halt in mid-March. They were filmed under strict, new Covid-19 protocols with reduced, mask-wearing crews — all of whom, according to Food Network, tested negative for coronavirus after filming was completed.
Courtney White, the president of Food Network and Cooking Channel, says the network agreed to restart production after creating specific plans for each show. “It isn’t one-size-fits-all,” White tells Variety. “But we did start with: Where can we film with the smallest footprint, the smallest crew — where everybody is very comfortable, and everybody’s on board? Obviously in this scenario, everybody feels different about their own personal willingness to step out of their house.

In the world of stand-up comedy Amy Schumer is an acquired taste. Bursting onto television screens in 2013 with her groundbreaking comedy series “Inside Amy Schumer,” the actress/writer/comedienne has used her platform to discuss everything from her vagina, to rape culture, to double standards when it comes to beauty. Her work is especially feminine and where stand-up remains a boys club, it’s easy to see why people who don’t like Schumer really don’t like her.
Regardless of the misogyny in the industry, Schumer has carried on, documenting her life most recently in the 2017 Netflix special “Amy Schumer Growing.” Similar to that, “Expecting Amy” blends documentary footage of Schumer going on tour, filming the aforementioned stand-up for Netflix, struggling with a difficult pregnancy, as well as her husband’s autism diagnosis.
