One of Fox's nicer surprises in 2024 was Murder in a Small Town. Based on the books by L.R. Wright, the series stars Rossif Sutherland as Karl Alberg, a former big-city cop who moves to the small British Columbia town of Gibsons to become its police chief.

Alberg soon starts a relationship with librarian Cassandra (Kristin Kreuk) as he solves a variety of murders and other crimes in the town. The show has had a notable guest star cast that includes Stana Katic, Erica Durance, and others. It was a good success that landed a second-season renewal.

Bloody Disgusting has received word that there’s something special after the credits, which we suspect is connected to Perkins’ next movie with Neon, Keeper.

Due out on October 3, the mysterious film is being billed as “a dark trip” from the director of Longlegs and The Monkey, one that’s armed with a very serious tone.

A third installment in the Orphan horror film series is currently in the works at Lionsgate. Isabella Fuhrman, who played the psychopathic Esther in the first two movies, recently offered some insight into the script for the upcoming Orphan 3.

"I've read the script, and while I don't want to give anything away, it's the only reason I would go back and do another one," Fuhrman told The Hollywood Reporter. "When they first said, 'We're going to make another one,' I was like, 'You guys are nuts!' But the script is so good. I was like, Ok! A hundred percent. This is a great idea, actually.' Per Deadline, Fox has renewed Murder in a Small Town for a second season. The series, which stars Rossif Sutherland and Kristin Kreuk, is based on the aforementioned Wright books. Of the nine books currently in the series, roughly four to five were used for the basis of Season 1, which means that there are three or four more books worth of mysteries left for viewers to dive into for the second season (and beyond).

Per Variety, a third Orphan film has officially been announced. After starring in the first two movies, Isabelle Furhman (Horizon: An American Saga) will return as Esther Coleman. Orphan 3 will also bring back the creative team for 2022's Orphan: First Kill, as writer David Coggeshall (The Family Plan) will pen the script with William Brent Bell (The Boy) returning to direct. Alex Mace of Gnosis Films is producing while David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick is executive producing. The film comes from Dark Castle Entertainment, and Lionsgate will launch sales of the project at the American Film Market.

Former Smallville co-stars Kristin Kreuk and Erica Durance are set to reunite onscreen in the mystery series Murder in a Small Town. Based on the Alberg and Cassandra Mysteries by the late Canadian mystery author L.R. Wright, Murder in a Small Town season 1 recently premiered on Fox on September 24. Kreuk, perhaps best known for her role as Lana Lang on The CWs long-running Superman prequel show, portrays Wrights small-town librarian Cassandra Mitchell opposite series co-lead Rossif Sutherland (Staff Sergeant Karl Alberg).

A new trailer for Murder in a Small Town episode 4, Prized Possessions (via TV Promos), shows Kreuks former Smallville co-star joining the show as a guest star. Based on Wrights fifth Alberg and Cassandra Mystery novel of the same name, Durance is set to play Emma OBrea, one of Cassandras childhood friends who discovers that her husband has gone missing, and her home has become the scene of a brutal crime.

Murder in a Small Town is one of the few procedurals that spends as much time developing the romance of their lead characters as it does on solving cases.

While some people love the cozy mystery vibe, others would prefer the series focus on developing stronger murder arcs.

Based on the novels by L.R. Wright, Murder in a Small Town focuses on Karl Alberg (Rossif Sutherland), a former big-city cop who relocates to the small town of Gibsons, British Columbia. He figures it’ll be a nice and quiet job as the local police chief only to start uncovering crimes in the town, including murder.

Alberg does get help from his fellow cops and a relationship with local librarian Cassandra Mitchell (Kristen Kreuk), who he starts dating. While it appeared the show was just a standard mystery, it’s getting attention thanks to some surprisingly high-profile guest stars.

The 90-minute premiere had Oscar nominee James Cromwell as an elderly resident who’s suspected of a dark murder.

Fox's Murder in a Small Town will bring together two big stars from the DC series Smallville. The special reunion comes 13 years after Smallville ended its run on television.

Per TVLine, Smallville star Erica Durance (Lois Lane) is heading to Murder in a Small Town, the new TV series starring former co-star Kristin Kreuk (Lana Lang). After the show premiered in September, it's been revealed that Durance will make her debut in the next episode, which is set to debut on Oct. 15. A new image and a TV promo have also been released to hype Durance's entrance into the series.
