Clarence Leo Fender has rightfully been declared as the father of the solid body electric guitar, a brand that has been used by everyone from
Elvis Presley to
Eric Clapton and from
Jimmy Page to
Jimi Hendrix. So popular was his invention that when Rolling Stone Magazine published a list of the world's "Top 100 Guitarists," ninety percent of those named on the list used Fender guitars on stage. Ironically, Leo could neither tune nor play a guitar, was nearly deaf and had one glass eye.
