The animated series was created by Adi Shankar and Alex Larsen, with the series renewed for a second season just one week after its debut on Netflix. Having only recently arrived, a second season of Devil May Cry might still be a ways off, but Shankar is already teasing what audiences might expect.

Despite the big launch, See didn’t become as popular as Apple probably hoped. After three seasons, it ended in 2022 and was mostly forgotten.

But recently, See has been climbing back up in Apple TV+’s streaming charts. According to Cbr, the show is currently in the top ten worldwide on Apple TV+, even reaching number seven on June 12. Usually, it takes weeks to a few months for a series to be renewed. That wasn't the case for Netflix's Devil May Cry, created by film producer, screenwriter, and director Adi Shankar and animated by South Korean Studio Mir. Just one week after its release on April 3, 2025, the animated fantasy action series was renewed for a sophomore season. With only eight episodes, Devil May Cry holds an approval rating of 96% on Rotten Tomatoes, with Collider's Aidan Kelley calling it "one of the best new animated shows of 2025." Praise this high might be nerve-wracking for most creators, with the pressure of keeping it up for the next season. However, Adi Shankar used the debut season as a "gateway drug" and said the next will be "different."

During an interview with Esquire, Shankar said his plan was always to expand the popular animated fantasy action series, and for Season 2, the storytelling is going to pivot.

When the forces of hell are after you, it'll be smart to ask for a bit of help. In the new Netflix animated series, Devil May Cry, that help does not get better than the demon hunter, Dante (Johnny Yong Bosch). If there's one thing Coop's going to do in Your Friends and Neighbors, it's cut it way too close past the point of comfort, and he does it once again to the highest extreme possible. The ending of episode 3 raised our blood pressure enough as Coop was caught attempting to swipe Nick's championship ring. A mystery person held Coop at gunpoint, but we didn't knew who it was.

Well, as it turns out, my prediction in my episode 3 recap was correct: Nick's housekeeper Elena (Aimee Carrero) pointed the gun at Coop. Shockingly, she was also in Nick's empty house secretly making use of his bathtub. They negotiate for a while before coming to an agreement, which sees Elena join Coop's operation as a literal partner in crime.

As he begins stealing from his wealthy neighbors, Coop begins to discover that there's a lot of deceit brewing under the town's luxurious exterior. Also recently divorced, Coop begins a relationship with Olivia Munn's Samantha, who wants a deeper connection. Marsden most recently appeared in Hulu's Paradise as Cal Bradford. While the thriller will return for a second season, it seems unlikely Marsden will, given his character's storyline.
