The Diplomat is expected to return to Netflix in 2025 with a season 3 of the political thriller starring Keri Russell as the US ambassador to the UK, Kat Wyler, and Rufus Sewell as her husband, Hal. After the explosive ending of season 2, which revealed betrayal and possibly left many essential characters for dead, the series is prepared to bring an even more exciting third season.
The ending of season 2 revealed the shocking news that it wasn’t Iran or Russia that ordered the British aircraft blown up, but it was British prime minister Nicol Trowbridge, played by Rory Kinnear. It also seems that he is the one who ordered another explosion; this one aimed at killing Hal Wyler (Sewell), deputy chief of mission Stuart Hayford (Ato Essandoh), office clerk Ronnie (Jess Chanliau), and MP Merritt Grove (Simon Chandler).

There are many debates over whether Peter Jackson’s adaptation of J.R.R. Tolkien'sThe Lord of the Rings novels truly captured the books in the best way possible. After all, it didn't include the "Scouring of the Shire" chapter that would have had Frodo (Elijah Wood) and the other hobbits fight to force Saruman (Christopher Lee) out of the shire and omitted characters like Tom Bombadil, who we have seen since in The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Powerplayed by Rory Kinnear. However, for many, Jackson's adaptation is one of the greatest, if not the greatest, adaptation of all time. It's even arguable that it improves on much of the novels' material.

There's something about a good underdog story that audiences can't resist. Written by Jack Thorne (His Dark Materials) and directed by Minkie Spiro, the new Netflix release Toxic Town stars Jodie Whittaker, Aimee Lou Wood, Bridgerton's Claudia Jessie, Robert Carlyle, and Rory Kinnear. It follows the three women and the lawyer who spearheaded a class action suit against a local steel factory that they believe caused deformities in dozens of children born in Corby, England, from 1985 to 1997. It is based on a true story that is both tragic in its cause and triumphant in its effect, bringing an unlikely group of blue-collar working women together to hold the sizable British company responsible.

The latest Netflix hit show, Toxic Town, is an emotional watch. It’ll tug at your feelings in several ways, especially if you have children of your own or young nieces or nephews. For myself, it had an extra edge as I watched the story unfold in this new dramatization.
Let's get down to the basics of the series. Released in late February on Netflix, Toxic Town has a big-name cast list. Jodie Whittaker, Aimee Lee Wood, Claudie Jessie, Brendan Coyle, Rory Kinnear, and Robert Carlyle pick up the lead roles. That's an incredible amount of experience from top dramas and films to bring together here.
The show follows the lives of some families in Corby, a small UK town dealing with the closure of the local steel works. As the major employer in the town, there was huge unemployment to deal with. The council and others worked to reclaim...

Hailed as a dynamic genre for the television landscape, sci-fi shows have garnered a multitude of fans who’ve consumed these fascinating programs with great intrigue. Whether delving into ambitious science fiction or blending genres to enhance a story, many sci-fi series create narratives that entertain audiences and build upon an overarching plot that leaves viewers invested in the ongoing trials and tribulations of the main characters.
Amidst the abundance of acclaimed sci-fi shows that take time to fully appreciate, either due to several seasons or a complicated narrative structure, some well-constructed series can be enjoyed by audiences in one day. In particular, a handful of condensed sci-fi shows emphasize how solid writing and quality filmmaking can go hand in hand to make viewer engagement the best version it can be.

Netflix’s latest British miniseries, Toxic Town is centered around the real-life legal battle between the Corby Borough Council and the townsfolk whose children suffered birth deformities due to toxic waste pollution resulting from deliberate neglect and mismanagement by the authorities involved in the steel plant land reclamation. As the makers decide to approach the narrative from the perspective of the victim’s families and the residents of the industrial town, it is important to note that maternal figures gained prominence – the ones who were most affected/ blamed for a predicament beyond their control, as patriarchal society functioned that way, and still does. Aside from this aspect, the series also focuses on the bureaucratic corruption which preys on the socioeconomic vulnerabilities of small townships and ends up ruining the future of upcoming generations in diabolically selfish pursuits.

Toxic Town on Netflix is an intriguing story about a fight between the mothers who live in Corby, England and their town council when it comes to a toxic waste case. It's show full of emotion, resilience, and much more. So is this all based on a true story?
The answer is, yes. Toxic Town is based on a true story. This is unfortunate as it means these parents and children went through the difficult time of the kids being born with missing limbs, compromised immune systems, and other health struggles. And it all could have been avoided. As seen in the series, mothers usually and heartbreakingly blame themselves. But it wasn't their fault at all.
Let's start from the beginning. So Susan McIntyre (Jodie Whittaker), Tracey Taylor (Aimee Lou Wood), and Maggie Mahon (Claudia Jessie) are three real-life mothers whose children were effected by the Corby poisonings. Just like in the show,...

Honestly sometimes when there's so many recognizable faces in a new show or movie, that doesn't necessarily mean that the story is good or worth your time. Though I'm happy to say that when it comes to Toxic Town on Netflix, that's definitely not the case! This star-studded cast brought it, with an inspiring story as well. With just four episodes, this series is a quick and satisfying watch if you're looking for something new to fill your time. Let's get into our review. Spoilers Below.

Spoiler Alert !!!Warning, spoilers ahead for the Toxic Town episodes—Good luck keeping those tears in!
Let me start by saying this: There are moments when you don’t even need to dive deep into a drama’s backstory to know it’s about to leave a mark. Have you ever felt that raw, gut-punching weight of injustice surrounding you? That feeling so loud, it echoes in your bones and won’t let you look away? The kind of feeling that makes you want to scream, “Someone has to do something!” Well, Toxic Town takes that feeling and cranks it up to an emotional fever pitch.

Netflix’s latest drama, Toxic Town, covers the real-life events that occurred in the English town of Corby in the 1990s. After their children were born with disabilities, a group of mothers embarked on a battle to hold those responsible to account and seek justice.
Before watching Netflix’s latest drama Toxic Town, I was largely unaware of the true story behind the series. I’d heard of it, but other than that, I was pretty much in the dark. Zero Day is one of Netflix's most popular and talked about shows at the moment, which doesn't come as a surprise given its compelling storyline and amazingly talented cast. I mean, who wouldn't want to watch a show starring big names such as Robert De Niro, Angela Bassett, Jesse Plemons, Lizzy Caplan, Connie Britton, etc.?
The entire first season of the new political thriller dropped on Netflix on Feb. 20, and with just six episodes, it didn't take long for viewers to binge-watch the whole installment. As expected, many rushed to search for details about a potential second season. However, they may not find the news they were hoping for. With Zero Day being billed as a limited series, the chances of it returning with a new season are slim, as its storyline is intended to be a self-contained narrative.
While this is disappointing news, there's no need to fret...

Former Doctor Who star Jodie Whittaker has opened up about the backlash to her casting as the 13th Doctor. The actress made TV history in 2017 when she became the first woman to play The Doctor.
While many Doctor Who fans and all of Whittaker's successors were publicly supportive, there was a significant wave of criticism for showrunner Chris Chibnall straying from having a white male play the Time Lord. Doctor Who quickly faced this criticism head on by casting Jo Martin as a secret incarnation of The Doctor, thus retroactively establishing that The Doctor could take the form of any sex or gender.

In 2009, the British High Court found Corby Borough Council guilty of negligence for its mismanagement of toxic waste in the Northamptonshire town over a span of fifteen years between 1984 and 1999. Though dubbed "the British Erin Brockovich," the story of the Corby poisonings — and of the band of mothers who courageously confronted and fought their town's leadership for justice as they raised children with toxic waste-related birth defects — is one you likely haven't heard. Until now, that is. In Netflix's new four-part limited series Toxic Town, penned by prolific writer Jack Thorne, the monumental environmental scandal and the landmark case associated with it is dramatised through the lens of the women — led by Jodie Whittaker, Aimee Lou Wood (Sex Education), and Claudia Jessie (Bridgerton) — whose love for their kids overcame a Goliath sized display of institutional greed and negligence. "Sometimes children are just born... different." Netflix has unveiled the official trailer for an investigation series called Toxic Town, set in the UK a few years ago. From TV director Minkie Spiro, this new series will debut for streaming on Netflix later in the month. Based on a true story, a group of mothers fight for justice in the wake of one of the worst toxic waste scandals in UK history. A favorite for the new 007 for some time, Aaron Taylor-Johnson clearly contains all the ingredients necessary to make a great 007, and while he may now be the obvious choice for the role (he's been the bookies' favorite on and off for a while now), perhaps, in this case, the obvious choice is simply the best choice.

A long-time James Bond favorite has suspiciously dodged a question about whether he is in fact in line to star as the new 007 following Daniel Craig’s departure from the role in 2021’s No Time to Die. During a recent appearance on Capital Breakfast in the United Kingdom, actor James Norton deftly avoided answering a straight question from a fan about whether we are “going to see you as Bond next?”
Not only did Norton largely avoid the question, adding to the suspicion and intrigue was the response from co-host Sian Welby, who laughed and said, “We’re not even allowed to ask that.” Now, why would they have been told not to ask such a question if there were no truth to it? Let the curious chin-stroking begin. Swerving the question, and revealing whether he was out of his “sad dad era,” Norton replied...

Has the new James Bond just been revealed? A clue certainly suggests so, with a new TV series starring Happy Valley and Grantchester actor James Norton having possibly just given the game away. This intriguing insight comes courtesy of the Talk Of The Townsends podcast, with hosts Benedict and Hannah Townsend spotting something interesting in Norton’s latest drama series, Playing Nice: he’s not wearing a tuxedo.
Now, this might seem odd, but give us a second. It is now well-known that any actor who signs a contract to play James Bond is not allowed to wear a tuxedo in any other project, thus keeping the image of 007 intact. In Playing Nice, which finds Norton starring as a father who discovers his son was swapped with another child at birth, the actor attends a fancy soirée...and is the only man not wearing a tux. You don’t often hear the phrases “feel-good” and “Financial Conduct Authority” in the same sentence. But 2023’s Bank Of Dave was as feel-good as they come, telling the “true-ish” story of David Fishwick (played by Rory Kinnear), a businessman and Burnley bloke who defied the odds and the snooty financial regulators to open a charitable community bank for his fellow Lancastrians. Sentimental and sugary though it was, this was a proper heart-warming Brit-com in the classical mould — a banking-based Brassed Off, a financial-sector Full Monty. Plus, it had a climactic cameo from the band Def Leppard, for some reason.
Now Dave is back, in this latest fictionalised retelling of his BAFTA-winning Channel 4 documentary series, with Chris Foggin returning to the director’s chair. Set in the doldrums of the coalition Lib-Con government, the sting of the 2007-’08 recession not yet faded, the scourge of payday loans suddenly begins...

Bank of Dave 2: The Loan Ranger review – Rory Kinnear files a solid return as the bloke from Burnley
The businessman with a heart takes on crooked payday lenders in this predictable sequel that gets by on its heartfelt performances
It won no prizes for subtlety, but cheerful, victory-of-the-underdog comedy Bank of Dave featured a stonking lead performance by Rory Kinnear as Dave Fishwick. He’s the Burnley businessman who made millions selling vans then took a stand against fatcat bankers by opening his own community bank, the Bank of Dave, in 2011. Now Kinnear is back for a sequel, this time taking on crooked payday lenders. Like the first film, Bank of Dave 2 is predictable and cliché-ridden but gets by on likable, heartfelt performances, and the knowledge that in real life some of this stuff actually happened.
The film picks up two years after the original. The “Bank of Dave” on the high street in Burnley is still going strong – lending to ordinary people who struggle to secure loans from bigger banks.

Who will play the next James Bond? This question is one of the biggest questions surrounding action movie blockbusters right now. And while speculation and rumors continue to swirl, we at least now know one actor who will “firmly” not be playing the new 007. Ted Lasso star Phil Dunster, who is best-recognized for playing the lovable-yet-egotistical footballer Jamie Tartt in the hit sports comedy series, has revealed that a “conversation” between his agents and the James Bond producers had even taken place. But sadly, it was a firm “no.”
"There was a conversation one of my agents had, but they quite firmly shut the door in their face."
This harsh revelation from Dunster (via Daily Express), at the very least, rules out one up-and-coming British and Irish actor for the role of James Bond. As it seems that every single other even slightly familiar name is in the running. Also...

As Hollywood continues to search for the next James Bond after Daniel Craig's departure following No Time To Die, casual and hardcore fans will be surprised to learn that a producer has appeared in more 007 movies than any one actor. Indeed, Michael G. Wilson, who has been a franchise mainstay since 1964, has played various background characters more often than Sean Connery, Pierce Brosnan, and Daniel Craig have portrayed the title character.
Whether briefly appearing as a background character or delivering dialog in a speaking role, spotting Wilson in 17 James Bond movies is an amusing trivia challenge sure to stump even the most knowledgeable Bond fanatics. As Challengers' Josh O'Connor continues to be the new betting favorite to become the next Agent 007, chronicling Michael G. Wilson's 57-year career in the James Bond movie franchise is up next.

The speculation surrounding who will be chosen to play the next iteration of James Bond continues, with a Golden Globe winner now overtaking Kraven the Hunter star Aaron Taylor-Johnson as the new bookies' favorite. The production team behind Netflix’s Black Mirror has a new series, Toxic Town, set to arrive on the streaming platform sometime this year. Netflix has released the first image (above) for the four-part limited series starring Jodie Whittaker and Robert Carlyle, which traces the true story of the Corby toxic waste case from the UK.
A town in Northamptonshire, Corby was once home to steel works which were shuttered in 1981. However, the toxic waste left behind contaminated the area, leading to health issues for those who lived there. An investigation and subsequent case found that the Corby Borough Council’s actions in moving the waste led to birth defects, namely, an above-average number of Corby residents born with upper-limb defects. Netflix's series will center primarily on the mothers whose children were affected. Per the official synopsis for Toxic Town:
Based on one of the UK’s biggest environmental scandals,...

2024 is over, and while it was a wasteland at the box office last year for television fans, it was one of the better years as we got many brilliant shows on the big and small scale. One of the major contenders for the next James Bond wants to see some changes being made in the movie and TV industry following the #MeToo movement. English actor James Norton, who is best known for the likes of Happy Valley and Little Women, and has been a favorite for the next 007 for some time, says it’s time for men to take a more “proactive” role in rebalancing “the patriarchal crimes of the past.”
Norton is next set to star in the drama series Playing Nice, in which two couples discover they were given the wrong babies when leaving hospital. The series sees the couples meet to discuss the tragic situation, with Norton’s character, Pete, forced to confront the bullying and controlling behavior of Miles, played in the show by James McArdle. Norton explained to Radio Times magazine:

Remember the phrase, “Behind every great man is an even greater woman”? Well, in the world of Skyfall, it might be more like, “Behind every great Bond is a very careful scriptwriter.” As the twenty-third film in the James Bond series, it didn’t just raise the bar; it set a new one entirely. It’s like Daniel Craig stepped into 007’s tuxedo, zipped it up, and suddenly, the Bond universe was transformed, unapologetically raw and real.
With this flick, the classic suave agent’s world was no longer just about gadgets and girl-chasing—there was a pulse. But, as we all know, things aren’t always as smooth as they seem behind the scenes. And Sam Mendes, the director, understood that perhaps better than anyone.
