Taylor Sheridan's "1923" season 2 fixes one of the biggest mistakes on "Yellowstone" by actually giving its Native American characters meaningful storylines. While "Yellowstone" touches upon the displacement of tribes in the United States, the lack of meaningful arcs for Thomas Rainwater (Gil Birmingham) and other Indigenous characters leaves a lot to be desired in terms of getting the point across. "1923," meanwhile, boasts an emotional storyline about Thomas' ancestor, Teonna Rainwater (Aminah Nieves), and her quest for freedom after going on the run for killing some abusive nuns who had it coming.
Unfortunately, intriguing sagas aren't always happy, as Teonna's boyfriend, Pete Brings Plenty (Jeremy Gauna), might be dead following the events of "1923" season 2, episode 5. The manhunt for Teonna, led by the sadistic Marshal Kent (Jamie McShane), has produced some of the darkest moments in...

This article contains spoilers for "1923" season 2, episode 3, "Wrap Thee In Terror."
While "1923" can be criticized for repurposing some unpopular "Yellowstone" storylines, the prequel series is still one of Taylor Sheridan's best shows to date. "Yellowstone" lost its way as the seasons progressed, mostly due to plots that went nowhere or contained holes large enough to ride a wagon train through. The show's inability to live up to one of the franchise's main themes is an egregious error, but "1923" is doing a great job of fixing this shortcoming.
Sheridan's "Yellowstone" franchise deals with the displacement of Native Americans in the United States, but the titular series fails to explore the theme with any substance. For proof, look no further than the journey of Thomas Rainwater (Gil Birmingham), who became an afterthought in favor of more Dutton-centric drama throughout that show's five seasons. This article contains mild spoilers for "1923."
Taylor Sheridan's "Yellowstone" franchise is the prize horse that keeps on giving. As of this writing, it's produced three shows in total, with even more spin-offs on the way. These include a series about Beth Dutton (Kelly Reilly) and Rip Wheeler's (Cole Hauser) post-"Yellowstone" adventures, "The Madison," which stars the incredible Michelle Pfeiffer, and "6666," which could bring back two fan-favorite characters from the main series. Sheridan's universe just won't stop expanding, and "1923" Season 2 might have just provided another avenue for the franchise to grow.
This second installment of "1923" sees Teonna Rainwater (Aminah Nieves), Runs His Horse (Michael Spears), and Pete Plenty Clouds (Cole Brings Plenty) on the run from the authorities and some angry religious zealots, with their perilous journey taking them to the Ja Ranch in Texas. Television titan Taylor Sheridan has undeniably become one of the most prominent and exciting talents on the small screen, with the Yellowstone creator, writer, director, and producer further capitalizing on the massive success of the streaming juggernaut by crafting captivating prequels and sequels revolving around the beloved Dutton clan. Aminah Nieves and Cole Brings Plenty had ended the first season of 1923 with new opportunities for their characters, Teonna Rainwater and Pete Plenty Clouds, and their blossoming love story.
The first season of the hit Yellowstone prequel series was a breakout one for Nieves as it tracked her Indigenous character, Teonna, and her epic journey escaping a 1923-set Indian assimilation boarding school run by the Catholic Church where she was abused.
After everything she endured, the season ended with her reuniting with her father (played by Michael Spears) and beginning to fall in love with the son of the man who helped save her, Pete Plenty Clouds (played by the late Cole Brings Plenty). Her final scene featured the three of them riding off to Wyoming in hopes of escaping the priest (Sebastian Roché) and other men who are now hunting her in season two, which returned after two years on Sunday.

They were forced to sell the last of their herd and kept only 4 bulls and one hundred heifers, the seeds to rebuild their empire once Spencer, their last hope against their sworn enemies, returned home. In the meantime, the family patiently waited for the cold winters to end so God’s spring would bring a new dawn upon their land and save them from their miseries.

Teonna Rainwater’s journey in 1923 is one of the most harrowing and emotional arcs on television today, and Aminah Nieves understands the weight of telling her story.

Teonna Rainwater has embodied an unbreakable spirit from the moment she was introduced. But where does that fight come from? According to Nieves, it’s simply who she is.
“I think it’s kind of instinctual. It’s ancestral,” she explained. “We are literal beings of this land. We share a DNA with this land, and in order to protect it, we must protect one another.”

Oyelowo recently told The Hollywood Reporter that when he first pitched the series in 2015, “the whole town turned it down saying, ‘We’re not doing that because no one is doing Westerns.'” When he again went out with the project in 2017, he was told, “Oh, we’re not doing that because everyone is doing Westerns.” Oyelowo said he had a similar journey when getting Selma made, and that it wasn’t until the...

Paramount+’s 1923 season one finishes up with episode eight, “Nothing Left to Lose,” an episode that ends with multiple cliffhangers and none of the three major storylines any closer to resolution. The season finale split fan-favorite couple Alex and Spencer apart, left Donald Whitfield sitting in the catbird seat, and revealed Cara’s worried that Spencer’s the Yellowstone Ranch’s only hope. And Teonna’s storyline only advanced as far as the Wyoming state line, with law enforcement and Father Renaud hot on her tail.
At least Paramount+ has already confirmed 1923 is returning for season two and we will, eventually, learn if Alex and Spencer make it to Montana. However, Paramount+ hasn’t announced when fans can expect a second season to arrive.

As the sidekick of Batman himself, Robin is one of the most beloved comic-book characters of all time, particularly among children. Created as a reader-insert in Batman stories, the purpose of Robin was to create someone kids could relate to as they imagined themselves going on zany adventures alongside the World's Greatest Detective. Nowhere is this better exemplified than through the third Robin, Tim Drake.
As the longest-serving Robin, Tim Drake is also Batman's most consistent partner. As a pairing, Batman and Robin stories tend to be more kid-friendly than most Batman stories. Furthermore, Robin's solo stories are targeted especially towards children and teens. Smart, brave and reliable, Tim Drake is intended as a role model to young people. So, it may come as a surprise that one of the most horrific Robin stories was given to Tim Drake.

Yellowstone has won a Golden Globe! Kevin Costner, who stars as patriarch John Dutton, won Best Performance by an Actor in a Television Series, Drama at the 2023 Golden Globes. He was up against Jeff Bridges for The Old Man, Diego Luna for Andor, Bob Odenkirk for Better Call Saul, and Adam Scott for Severance. Costner was not in attendance, and Regina Hall, who presented the category, explained, through some laughter, that he was stuck in Santa Barbara (“let’s pray everyone”) before getting serious. “Because of the unprecedented weather and flooding, he has to shelter in place in Santa Barbara,” she said, adding her hope that everyone affected by the storms remains safe. Costner’s win wasn’t the only Yellowstone presence at the 2023 Golden Globes. Cole Hauser (who plays Rip Wheeler) and Mo Brings Plenty (who plays Mo) presented Best Performance by an Actress in a Limited Series or...
