Dark Star Pictures has acquired US distribution rights to Esben Tonnesen and Julie R. Olgaard’s crime thriller The Angel Maker.
Plans are underway for a late summer 2024 theatrical release.
A debut directorial feature for Danish actress Olgaard and a second feature for Tonnesen, The Angel Maker follows a detective suffering from postpartum depression who becomes involved in a case with her partner.
The film is written by Yusuf Othman and Olgaard based on Olgaard’s original idea.

REInvent has closed a French deal on “The Angel Maker,” a psychological thriller starring a top Nordic cast including Julie R. Ølgaard (“The Killing”), Roland Møller (“Riders of Justice”), Christopher Læssø (“The Bridge”) and Stine Stengade (“Those Who Kill”).
The banner has sold the film to Koba Films in France and will be hosting a market screening at Cannes on the 18th.
“The Angel Maker” tells the story of crime detective Laura who is specialized within cybercrime. Laura is on sick leave with a psychosis after a birth depression and by coincidence she stumbles upon a case with a beastly serial killer which piques her interest and she decides that it is time for her to return to her job as a crime detective.
Produced by HitHero Productions, the film is directed by Esben Tønnesen and Julie R. Ølgaard. It will be released on June 8.

"Deliriously Entertaining!" A new UK trailer has arrived, originally via AICN on Yahoo now on YouTube, for a Norwegian crime thriller called Headhunters, based on Jo Nesbo's novel, about a corporate headhunter who moonlights as an art thief and gets into some serious shit while on one job. The film stars a mostly Scandinavian cast: Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, Synnøve Macody Lund, Julie R. Ølgaard and Aksel Hennie, who almost looks like a young Christopher Walken. This is a great trailer and builds on the story and intensity, ending on an excellent final note. I really want to see this, I always love a good heist. Check it out below!
