Hollywood, often seen through the lens of glamorous red carpets and seven-figure paydays, occasionally transforms into a vicious coliseum where reputations are savagely fought for and shattered. Take Ryan Reynolds, for instance.
Recently, his name has been splashed across headlines—not because of a new blockbuster or his witty social media posts, but due to a $400 million defamation and extortion lawsuit filed by Justin Baldoni. It all boils down to one powerful allegation: that Reynolds called Baldoni a “predator”.

But wait….Blake Lively’s husband stands firm in his belief, arguing that his comment wasn’t just a random insult—it was based on his own experiences and Lively’s accusations. And amidst all the drama, billionaire Steve Sarowitz, a co-founder of Baldoni’s Wayfarer Studios, allegedly promised to spend up to $100 million to “ruin” Reynolds and his wife.

Let’s cut to the chase—Hollywood isn’t all sunshine and rainbows. Sure, it’s the land of luxury and limelight, but behind the flashing cameras and designer clothes, it’s not always the picture-perfect scene we imagine. Take Ryan Reynolds for example. The guy who makes cracking jokes look effortless and stars in rom-coms we can’t help but binge.
But even he has his moments where, let’s just say, reality hits harder than a poorly timed punchline.
Ryan Reynolds in The Change-Up | Credit: Universal Studios
For example, the infamous scene from The Change-Up (2011), where things got a little more steamy than he expected. And no, we’re not talking about the plot…
So, Blake Lively’s handsome husband found himself in a situation where his co-star, Olivia Wilde, stripped down for an intimate scene. At one point, she even placed his hands on her chest—and what did Mr.

At an artificial intelligence summit in Paris last month, Vice President Jd Vance slammed the European Union for what he called “excessive regulation” around the advancement of artificial intelligence, adding that such regulation will hinder innovation in the tech industry.
His comments were music to the ears of tech giants like Google and OpenAI, who last week submitted formal proposals to the White House Office of Science and Technology (Ostp) regarding the U.S. AI Action Plan. Their suggestions, essentially: Regulation? Who needs that?
Specifically, both companies included sections in their proposals regarding copyright and argued that, when it comes to copyright laws, the government should apply the fair use doctrine to AI. OpenAI said doing so is “not only a matter of American competitiveness — it’s a matter of national security.” Google said it’s “essential for accelerating AI in science.”

What’s going to be this year’s “Anora”? As the Cannes Film Festival rapidly approaches, that’s the question for artistic director Thierry Fremaux and movie buffs around the world.
A month before Cannes Film Festival’s press conference, the official selection is still very much a work in progress, with little reliable information filtering through about which movies have already been invited. In fact, as of Friday — despite the volume of splashy prediction stories — it appears that only three films have so far been given a golden ticket to compete in Cannes. Variety can reveal that one of them is Jim Jarmusch’s anticipated “Father Mother Sister Brother“ starring Cate Blanchett, Adam Driver and Tom Waits.
The last edition of the festival, which Fremaux had warned would be slightly weaker due to the impact of the double Hollywood strikes, proved to be anything but. Headlined by Sean Baker’s Palme d’Or-winning “Anora,...

Every choice has consequences. After two years of a highly anticipated wait, the record-breaking Emmy award winning HBO series The Last of Us returns.
Season 2 picks up five years after the events of the first season, which saw Joel (Pedro Pascal) massacre a team of doctors who were hoping to cure civilization from the zombie-like disease ravaging the surviving population. The only problem with this plan is that the cost of a potential vaccine came at the expense of fatally experimenting on the mysteriously immune Ellie (Bella Ramsey)—a price Joel wasn’t willing to pay. Now, as a result of their respective actions while searching for safety, Joel and Ellie will be forced to face repercussions from their individual pasts.
Some new faces will appear in Season 2 of The Last of Us, all of whom are from the video game. Kaitlyn Dever, Isabela Merced, Tati Gabrielle and more will bring these characters to life.

Extortion. Careers unceremoniously ended. Organizations led by sociopathic megalomaniacs. It’s kind of shocking how much TV crime dramas have in common with TV sitcoms about the film industry. Last fall, we got HBO’s The Franchise, a pessimistic look inside a contemporary fictional superhero property. And on March 26th, AppleTV+ will premiere The Studio, about a contemporary fictional film company. Though you might expect there to be a lot of crossover between the projects, the two are about as different as two prestige-y sitcoms set backstage in the movie business and released within six months of each other can actually be. And while The Studio is definitely taking a lot of big swings that a certain kind of viewer will like (I really did!), this is still a world in which The Franchise was canceled weeks after its season ended: The Studio’s swings might be too big.

Every year right about now, the Emmy race starts ramping up, with lots of shows releasing in the spring sweet spot — they’ll be fresh in your minds for Emmys campaigning and inside of the May 31 eligibility cut-off date. Of course we’ll have plenty of big returning awards-centric shows—The Last of Us, Hacks, Poker Face, The Bear, Severance and The White Lotus, to name just a few— but what are the brand new shows we have yet to see?
You’ve likely already been watching Hulu’s twisty new show Paradise, which reunites Sterling K. Brown with This Is Us creator Dan Fogelman, Max’s The Pitt is bringing back the medical drama in a big way, CBS Kathy Bates-starrer Matlock is one to watch that’s already renewed for Season 2, as is Netflix’s smash hit Nobody Wants This… these new shows already made their debut.

The Studioco-creators, Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg, premiered their Apple TV+ series at the 2025 SXSW Film & TV Festival on Mar. 7, where they also appeared onstage to discuss the project as part of a Q&a after the screening. The duo were joined by several members of the star-studded cast, having worked with an impressive roster of talent on the satirical comedy. Renowned filmmaker Martin Scorsese wasn't in attendance despite having a cameo on the show, but Rogen did share some insight into what it was like to work with him.
According to Variety, Rogen revealed the rather surprising and certainly amusing note Scorsese gave him and Goldberg, and it's the last thing you would expect. The director, who is prone to profanity in his movies, told the pair that he feels their swearing is excessive. Just when it seemed like Seth Rogen couldn't do better, early word of mouth about his upcoming AppleTV+ series The Studio makes it his best-reviewed project on Rotten Tomatoes. Rogen has been involved in some highly acclaimed film and television series projects as a writer, producer, and actor. Some of his best-reviewed include Steven Spielberg's The Fabelmans (92%), the dramedy 50/50 (93%), superhero satire The Boys (93%), the animated reboot Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem (95%), and the hit Prime Video series Invincible (99%). While Invincible previously held the record for Seth Rogen's best-reviewed project on Rotten Tomatoes, The Studio has won the top prize.

Seth Rogen skewers Hollywood in a new comedy series coming to Apple TV+ this month. Ahead of the show's debut on March 26, the show has impressed critics right out of the gate with a perfect score on Rotten Tomatoes.
With its early reviews, The Studio has been given a Rotten Tomatoes approval rating of 100%. Potentially, the number could drop as more reviews come in, but debuting with a perfect score is a very promising star for the new show. According to critics, the series succeeds with its comedy, described by Collider's Ross Bonaime as "smart and informed," though it's also drawing praise for pulling off the show's unexpectedly darker moments as well.
"This show – unlike so much of what’s portrayed on it – is a true success, one with many more stories to tell that should absolutely become an enduring staple of this moment’s top-tier television," Awards Buzz...

Seth Rogen Met With Every Hollywood Studio Head as Research for ‘The Studio’: “They Seem to Like It”
Seth Rogen brought his Hollywood satire The Studio to opening night of the SXSW festival on Friday, as he revealed the surprising inspirations and meetings he had before shooting.
The Studio stars Rogen as the newly appointed head of the fictional Continental Studios, as he attempts to keep things afloat financially while also trying to create artistic, prestige films.

It was the response a studio head would love. On Friday night at the South by Southwest Film & TV Festival in Austin, Texas, Apple TV+ premiered the first episodes of its new Hollywood comedy The Studio to several rave reviews from attendees.
The result should not surprise historians of the annual Austin event. The Studio co-creator, director, writer, executive producer, and star Seth Rogen has enjoyed many successful launches at SXSW, including Knocked Up, Neighbors, Sausage Party, Long Shots, and Good Boys.
“The Studio is the best new TV series since the first season of Hacks. It is so clever and funny and well directed and perfectly acted. I can’t wait for everyone to see it,” wrote Variety co-editor-in-chief Ramin Setoodeh.
Inverse editor Hoai-Tran Bui called The Studio, “Entourage, but for Film Twitter (positive). Really enjoyed seeing this with a crowd, whose laughter was so loud, I missed 20% of the dialogue.

When Chase Sui Wonders hit the SXSW red carpet to promote “The Studio,” she took a moment to tell IndieWire about her role in Gregg Araki’s psychosexual thriller “I Want Your Sex,” which wrapped at the end of last year in Los Angeles. The film follows Cooper Hoffman as the “sexual muse” of a renowned artist, played by Olivia Wilde, “on a journey more profound than he ever could have imagined, into a world of sex, obsession, power, betrayal and murder,” according to the official synopsis.
“‘Nowhere’ is a favorite of mine, ‘Mysterious Skin’ obviously, ‘The Doom Generation,'” Wonders said of her affinity for Araki’s work. “All of his movies are so weird and so offbeat and, yet, point to something so universal about the human psyche and to be able to work with him, an icon like that, he was at the top of my list.

Hollywood satirizing itself always brings with it a strangely ouroboric connotation—an excruciating, try-hard attempt to make themselves cooler by lampooning themselves in front of their audience. To a certain extent, the lampooning could work if the media exploring said sentiment has a discerning point. The Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg-created show The Studio (Season 1) seems to be vacillating between two entirely conflicting points.
As the show begins, we are introduced to Matt Remmick (Bryan Cranston), who is appointed the head of flailing Continental Studios by its new owner Griffin Mill (Bryan Cranston), who also gives him his first mission statement—to revive the IP of Kool-Aid by producing a movie akin to the success of “Barbie,” which would put Continental Studios on the map. But that is a hard pivot from what the cinephilic perspective of Remnick wants Continental Studios to be making—serious, art-house movies, which Mill...

Netflix co-ceo Ted Sarandos is following in a storied American showbiz tradition of top TV executives making cameos on shows set by predecessors like Brandon Tartikoff. Surprisingly, the series that marks his acting debut is not on Netflix but on rival Apple TV+.
Sarandos is popping up in Seth Rogen’s upcoming showbiz-themed comedy The Studio, in which the Neighbors star plays Matt Remick, the new head of a Hollywood movie studio. We won’t spoil Sarandos’ interaction with Remick beyond teasing that it involves a chance encounter at the Golden Globes.
“After 25 years in Hollywood, secretly what I was really hoping for was to be discovered for the silver screen,” Sarandos told Deadline. “Of course it was my friend Seth Rogen who saw my ‘certain something’ and cast me. He has also promised an FYC campaign for my guest appearance — so it was an offer that I could not refuse.

Apple TV+ has dropped a star-studded new trailer for its upcoming satirical comedy series The Studio, which sees Seth Rogen lift the lid on Hollywood's "meat grinder" surrounded by Tinseltown's top talent, including, but not limited to, Catherine O'Hara, Kathryn Hahn, Olivia Wilde, Adam Scott, and even Martin Scorsese. After all, "this is cinema," but perhaps not in the way we're used to seeing it, as the ten-episode series taps into the inner workings of the movie industry, promising lights, cameras, and plenty of action.
According to the show's official synopsis, Rogen plays Matt Remick, "the newly appointed head of embattled Continental Studios," who finds himself wrangling with "narcissistic artists and craven corporate overlords" in the pursuit of making a good movie... that will be good forever (and we're hedging our bets that it's not going to be Duhpocalyspe). Seth Rogen is taking aim at Hollywood itself in the first trailer for his and Evan Goldberg’s upcoming Apple TV+ comedy, “The Studio.” The series, which is produced by Lionsgate Television, will premiere exclusively on the streamer on March 26.
“The Studio” follows Matt Remick (Rogen), an executive for Continental Studios who originally got into the business because of his genuine love of film. But when he’s promoted to become head of Continental, the day-to-day stress quickly transforms his dream job into a waking nightmare.
“I’m honored, obviously, to be one of the people who gets to choose which movies get made and which ones don’t,” Matt says in the trailer. “And I got into all this because, you know, I love movies. But now I have this fear that my job is to ruin them.”
“The job is a meat grinder,” his mentor Amy (Catherine O’Hara) sagely responds.

Charli Xcx is being eyed to star in Greta Gerwig’s ‘The Chronicles of Narnia’ movie.Deadline reports the Brit Award-winner, 32, is one of the ‘Barbie’ director’s top choices to play a major role in the film, which is being made with Netflix. While the role the singer is being lined up for has not been confirmed, the outlet believes it could be that of Jadis the White Witch - previously played by Tilda Swinton in 2005’s ‘The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe’ and its two sequels. In 2018, Netflix announced it would be making a new movie adaptation of C.S. Lewis’ fantasy series of the same name, and signed Gerwig to direct the project two years later. While updates on the ‘Narnia’ flick have been slow since then, it was recently reported that Gerwig had successfully convinced the streaming giant to give her...

Brat summer is over — Brat winter is coming! It's been a busy old start to the month for pop megastar Charli Xcx, who scooped a mighty four Brit Awards just last weekend before following it up with the announcement of a Glastonbury headline slot just this morning. But while the rest of us would probably be nursing hangovers or taking some time out to chill right about now, that's not the 'Guess' singer's style. Per Deadline's reporting, the budding actor is circling a role in Greta Gerwig's upcoming Netflix Narnia movie.
Who exactly Charli Xcx will hypothetically be playing in Gerwig's fantasy epic adaptation of C.S. Lewis' beloved books isn't 100% confirmed, but while we reckon the Brit star could easily play one of the Good Ones, Deadline's sources say that she could be set to play one of the franchise's Mean Girls instead — namely Jadis, The White Witch.

Greta Gerwig has been hard at work on a new adaptation of The Chronicles of Narnia for Netflix. Amidst reports that she has secured a theatrical release, including plenty of IMAX screens, it seems Gerwig is close to finding at least one major cast member for the blockbuster project. Previously played by Tilda Swinton in the 2005 film adaptation, Narnia could feature the brattiest witch of them all if a new report is to be trusted.
According to Deadline, worldwide pop star sensation Charli Xcx is being eyed to play Jadis the White Witch in Netflix's upcoming Narnia movie franchise. No deal has been struck yet, and while the trade is not 100% confident that it is for the iconic villain, Narnia would be by far the artist's most high-profile acting gig yet. Deadline adds that Charli Xcx is among several actors on the top of the list for the White Witch,...

Don’t blame or credit Bianca Censori: Ye’s wife may have sparked a controversy at February’s Grammy Awards when she dropped her coat on the carpet to reveal she was nude under a decidedly sheer minidress. But the style aesthetic of “How naked can I look?” already had become a major dressing trend at the Vanity Fair Oscar Party — at the Grammys, Censori merely exploited the idea to the extreme.
The naked-dressing theme indeed continued at the 2025 Oscars afterparty event at the Wallis Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts in Beverly Hills, where stars including Julia Fox, Olivia Wilde, Megan Thee Stallion, Zoe Kravitz and others pushed the boundaries with their sheer-dressing choices. Lingerie inspirations, black lace and provocative details that included plunging necklines and open lacing were the evening’s other fashion trends.
Some looks were tame by comparison, others more blatant, but every woman owned it.

Oscars night has continued the Grammys naked trend.
Last month for music’s biggest night, every iteration of bras, panties, corsets and more made an appearance at the 2025 Grammy Awards for an awards show that The Hollywood Reporter‘s style writer Laurie Brookins wrote could have been dubbed “the underwear Grammys.” (Kanye West’s wife, Bianca Censori, memorably skipped the underwear altogether on the red carpet.)
Now, for the 2025 Oscars, a handful of stars continued to drive that style trend after the red carpet for Hollywood biggest night, leaning into the naked vibe at the 2025 Vanity Fair Oscar Party, which has become somewhat of a tradition.
Julia Fox arrived to the annual star-studded afterparty Sunday in Los Angeles in a fully sheer Dilara Findikoglu dress that exposed her breasts. The Uncut Gems star wasn’t entirely nude under her see-through, and she was also covered up by extra-long hair extensions...

Without a doubt, Apple TV+ has become one of the best streaming services out there. With shows like Severance, Slow Horses, and Ted Lasso under its belt, the platform continues to raise the bar on what it means to make good television. They might be relatively new to the world of streaming, but they’ve managed to rival their competitors rather quickly and successfully. Thankfully, it appears as though the brand-new shows slated to arrive in March will be just as good as the ones they’ve produced in the past.
There might not be a plethora of series heading to Apple TV+ next month, but that doesn’t mean a thing if the few series that will be released are stellar shows, which seems to be the case. Between a crime drama, a Hollywood comedy, and a spin-off of a beloved and established series, viewers won’t want to...

When it came out in 2006, Turistas generated primarily negative reviews, and the film still retains a crushing 19% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Looking back at it and its major themes now, it seems like it's time to admit: this film, directed by John Stockwell and starring Melissa George, Josh Duhamel and Olivia Wilde, isn't as spectacularly bad as it was painted originally. Rather, it was put down in a major way by the release of Eli Roth's Hostelearlier that year.
