The following contains spoilers for High Potential, Season 1, Episode 13, "Let's Play."
Popular ABC crime drama High Potential recently wrapped its first season and the finale did not disappoint. The episode ended by setting up a villain story arc for Season 2.
The episode, titled "Let's Play," pushed the LAPD to its limits as Morgan and the team tried to catch a criminal mastermind. Due to several false leads, the wrong person ended up on their radar while the real bad guy (played by David Giuntoli) roamed free. Speaking to TVLine, showrunner Todd Harthan explained that the mystery character may be the focus in the next season. "I love a good serialized villain," he said. "I also love going into a Season 2 where there might be another surprise or two, so it’s a bit of an open box."

Amirah shared with ABC about season 2, “I’m really excited just to kind of see more about her upbringing and kind of what her life was like when it was just her and Morgan for those few years before her siblings came, and just really see how that has kind of shaped her into who she is now.

Just when we were starting to lose hope in the executives over at ABC, they came through with news that Morgan Gillory and High Potential aren’t going anywhere.
That’s right, you didn’t read that wrong. The ABC smash hit will return for more brain-boggling cases that only Kaitlin Olson can crack.
Fans of High Potential are likely jumping for joy as the series has been killing it without a single mention of renewal.
(Disney/Pamela Littky)
Luckily, we can all stop pretending like we didn’t know this show was going to get the green light for more.
That isn’t big talk either because, as reported by The Hollywood Reporter, “ABC says the pilot episode’s audience has grown to more than 30 million in the four months since it debuted.”
(Carlos Lopez-Calleja/Disney)
Again, as if we didn’t know High Potential would absolutely be returning...

ABC has handed an early Season 2 renewal to its breakout new crime drama High Potential. The light procedural starring Kaitlin Olson joins ABC’s flagship comedy Abbott Elementary in securing a spot on the network’s 2025-26 schedule. High Potential also joins the other standout 2024-25 freshman drama, CBS’ Matlock, in landing an early Season 2 renewal. Both were series originally ordered for last season but delayed due of the strikes.
The size of High Potential‘s Season 2 order is Tbd but is expected to be larger than Season 1, which consists of 13 episodes. Because of the show’s atypical production schedule and Olson’s commitment to her other series regular job on FX’s It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, filming on Season 1 had to wrap after its initial 13-episode order.

Kaitlin Olson will return to screens as Morgan in a second season of “High Potential.”
ABC has granted a Season 2 renewal to “High Potential” for the 2025-26 broadcast season, the network announced Tuesday. The news comes on the heels of the network renewing “Abbott Elementary” for a fifth season.
In “High Potential,” Olson, who can also be seen in Max’s “Hacks” and Fxx’s “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia,” stars as Morgan, a single mom with a unique knack for solving crimes. After living up to its, uh, potential through the first half of this season, ABC’s High Potential is getting a second.
The network has renewed the Kaitlin Olson-led drama for a second season in 2025-26. High Potential has been a breakout for ABC, ranking among the top first-year series of 2024-25 so far and drawing strong streaming numbers in addition to its on-air ratings.
The first two episodes of the series averaged better than 10 million cross-platform viewers after seven days, with streaming making up more than a third of that total. ABC says the pilot episode’s audience has grown to more than 30 million in the four months since it debuted.
High Potential has taken off since moving from 10 to 9 p.m. Tuesdays earlier this month, averaging 5.74 million same-day viewers (vs. 3.48 million at the later time last fall). The Jan. 7 installment drew a series high of 12.9 million viewers...

ScreenRant is proud to present an exclusive sneak peek of High Potential season 1, episode 10, "Chutes and Murders." Airing on ABC on Tuesday, January 21 at 9 p.m. Et, the new installment will see Morgan and Karadec investigate a particularly bizarre murder scene. The official synopsis reads: "A nanny is found bludgeoned to death in the park. Elsewhere, Morgan interferes when Elliot admits to not being invited to his classmate’s party."
The clip opens with Morgan trying to convince Karadec to taste her sandwich at the diner, while the detective emphasizes the importance of being discreet during their stakeout. In typical Morgan fashion, she counters his reprimand with humor, and he appears unamused. Before the banter can go any further, Karadec spots their suspect buying a newspaper across the street. Check out ScreenRant's full sneak peek above.

High Potential has been a big hit, with just two episodes of Season 1 set to air on ABC in the coming weeks. While a second season seems likely, series creator Drew Goddard says the show, led by It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia actor Kaitlin Olson, came with some creative challenges.
Speaking to Variety, Goddard explained that finding the right blend of humor and drama wasn't easy. "As all shows in Season 1 are, they're always challenging," he said. "And so it's been fun to see all the hard work our crew and cast to put into the show being rewarded. I've learned with shows like this, tone is everything. High Potential star Daniel Sunjata candidly addresses a possible romance between his character, Detective Adam Karadec, and Morgan Gillory. The popular detective drama, which is based on the French series Hpi, has broken records for ABC. Each episode has averaged more than 10 million viewers, while the premiere has reached more than 20 million viewers to date. Part of the procedural's undeniable appeal is the chemistry between Karadec and Gillory (Kaitlin Olson), who have an antagonistic but ultimately collaborative partnership.
In an interview with Screen Rant's Rachel Foertsch, Sunjata addressed a possible romance between Morgan and Karadec. The Rescue Me alum shared that he could see it happening, explaining how their type of relationship is a common favorite for television fans. In the quote below, however, Sunjata also leaves room for the possibility that they may not get together:

In Dallas Jenkins’ The Best Christmas Pageant Ever, a group of kids wreak daily havoc on Emmanuel, a small town somewhere in America. The Herdmans, according to the narrator (Lauren Graham) of this uneven tale, are “the worst kids in the history of the world” — a title earned by Ralph (Mason D. Nelligan), Leroy (Ewan Wood), Claude (Matthew Lamb), Ollie (Essek Moore), Gladys (Kynlee Heiman) and Imogen (Beatrice Schneider) through a host of shenanigans ranging from personally offensive to downright harmful.
A nifty montage at the beginning of the holiday feature shows the Herdmans bullying kids and adults with impunity; taking the Lord’s name in vain; smoking cigars; stealing from local businesses and even setting fire to a dilapidated shed. Because of their repugnant behavior, residents of the community hardly believed the Herdmans were “real,” says the narrator. “No one knew why they were that way.” And it appears that few people — including,...

Based on the 1972 children's book of the same name by Barbara Robinson, The Best Christmas Pageant Ever lengthens the story but fails to dig deep while exploring its own true meaning of Christmas. Now that it's November, stores, companies, and the media will all be leaning head-first into the Christmas spirit, even if the event itself is still almost two months away. This is the cycle of Christmas cheer in film and television. Though it's being released right on schedule, The Best Christmas Pageant Ever is trying to combat the commodification of Christmas, if only slightly.

There is a reason certain Christmas movies stand the test of time and return year after year, and also a reason the Hallmark-style factory-made product is easily forgotten. It’s a Wonderful Life, White Christmas, A Charlie Brown Christmas and A Christmas Story are pure examples of the former. They are perennials, classics.
In fact, that sweetly nostalgic 1983 A Christmas Story is what I thought of most when watching the latest entry in the genre, The Best Christmas Pageant Ever, which may not be the best Christmas movie ever, but it grabs your heart and makes you smile. It also is that increasingly rare so-called “faith based” film that doesn’t try to hit you on the head with a sermon. Instead, it manages to be thoroughly entertaining family fare that also uncovers the true, not commercial, meaning of the holiday. I wouldn’t be surprised if this Lionsgate release becomes a perennial itself.

High Potential, the new detective drama starring It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia vet Kaitlin Olson, continues to break records and surpasses a notable revival. Debuting on ABC in September, the three-time Emmy-nominated Olson plays Morgan Gillory, a cleaner who solves a particularly difficult case, steering the police away from the wrong suspect, and is then asked to work as a consultant with a seasoned detective. The procedural, which is based on the French series Hpi, has quickly built up an audience since its debut.
Deadline reveals that the detective drama has averaged 10.42 million viewers to become ABC's most-watched new show since the debut of the Roseanne revival, The Conners, six years earlier. Looking specifically at High Potential's fifth episode, which aired on October 22, that installment garnered 6.83M viewers across seven days of linear viewing, which helped ABC win Tuesday's 10 Pm timeslot for the first time in four years. When audiences first meet Morgan Gillory (Kaitlin Olson) on ABC's High Potential, she's making her way to the LAPD for her night shift as their maid. With "Heavy Cross" by Gossip playing, Morgan dances (literally) her way through the police department until she knocks over a file box. That's when audiences begin to really learn about Morgan -- she's got observational and memory skills that make her both a bit of an oddball and the person the LAPD absolutely wants helping them solve cases.

The wait for Fall TV is finally over, which means we’ve got an influx of series hitting the small screen, including a new crop of procedurals. On ABC, that means “High Potential,” the comedic crime procedural from “The Martian” and “Daredevil” writer Drew Goddard.
Based on the hit French series “Hip,” the hour-long comedy stars “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia” and “The Mick” actress Kaitlin Olson as Morgan, a single mother and so-called “high potential individual” with an exceptional Iq and a knack for solving crimes. After the cops take notice of her unique skills, Morgan gets the chance to put that potential to use by cracking cases.
The series also stars Daniel Sunjata as Karadec, Javicia Leslie as Daphne, Deniz Akdeniz as Lev “Oz” Ozdil, Amirah J as Ava, Matthew Lamb as Elliot and Judy Reyes as Selena.

High Potential is making its debut on ABC. The new procedural, which flits between comedy and drama, stars Kaitlin Olson as a genius who gets hired as a police consultant after she makes a break in a case that changes the tide of the investigation. Her decision to highlight what they'd missed takes her from cleaning the precinct to helping to solve crimes with Det. Karadec who is definitely not as free spirited as Morgan nor would he bring children to a crime scene but, hey, Morgan is a single mother with three kids, where she goes they go if that's what has to happen.

Kaitlin Olson isn’t a regular mom-turned-crime scene investigator — she’s a cool mom-turned-crime scene investigator.
ABC has released the official trailer for High Potential, a new dramedy in which Olson stars as Morgan, a single mother whose remarkable ability to spot specific details lands her a job helping the authorities crack tough cases. Or as her daughter puts it, Morgan is “a single mom with three kids pretending to be a cop.” Morgan prefers “consulting” over “pretending,” but we’ll let that slide for now.
