George C. Wolfe’s biopic of Bayard Rustin (Colman Domingo), the civil rights activist who helped put together one of the largest peaceful protests in American history in 1963, takes on added resonance in the wake of recent violence in Israel and Gaza. The March for Freedom and Jobs on Washington and the current protests around the world in support of Palestinians are separated by decades and origins, and while Rustin doesn’t bridge the gap between these events, it reminds one of how much activism has changed over six decades.

Rustin, which tracks the eight-week breakneck race to get multiple civil rights organizations, like the N.A.A.C.P., to cooperate and get 100,000 peaceful protesters down to the National Mall hums along, at an agreeable tempo. Wolfe and screenwriters Julian Brece and Dustin Lance Black conjure the events in a crowd-pleasing manner. This is a film that doesn’t want for soliloquies.

Prime Video’s “Gen V” has passed its freshman year with flying colors and will soon head into its sophomore year! The streamer has officially ordered a second season of the global hit, a spinoff to its beloved superhero satire “The Boys.”

Colman Domingo is demanding the spotlight for his next film role. The "Candyman" and "Euphoria" actor portrays queer civil rights activist Bayard Rustin in Netflix's upcoming biopic, "Rustin." Per the streamer, the movie will chronicle Rustin's rise as the "architect of 1963's momentous March on Washington," where Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. delivered his historic "I Have a Dream" speech. According to the movie's trailers, which arrived on Aug. 28 and Oct. 19, "Rustin" is also expected to spotlight some of the obstacles the titular figure faced during his lifetime, including police brutality and criticism over his sexuality.

He's typically been overlooked (if not completely erased) in public school curriculums due to the fact that he was gay, which also led to him advising people like King from behind closed doors rather than serving openly as one of the faces of the movement itself.

Bringing two projects to Toronto International Film Festival (and likely would’ve been a trio if a certain film didn’t get delayed), Colman Domingo is poised for a major fall. Sophomore Prodigal Son, co-produced by Fox Entertainment, was a true bubble show. It was the last Fox drama to get a renewal last year, a move that didn’t come until after the upfronts, and it came down to the wire again for the series. The news comes ahead of the second season finale, which is scheduled to air on May 18. That episode will now serve as the series finale. An insider with knowledge of the situation characterized the move to cancel the series as a difficult one, but went on to say that the show’s ratings did not justify a third season.

He learned how they think because his father, Dr. Martin Whitly Dr. Martin Whitly (Michael Sheen), was a notorious serial killer known as “The Surgeon.” Now he’s using his twisted genius to help the NYPD solve their most puzzling murders.

The series also stars Lou Diamond Phillips, Aurora Perrineau, Frank Harts, Keiko Agena, Halston Sage, Bellamy Young, and Catherine Zeta-Jones.

Malcolm Bright can unfortunately add “abandonment issues” to his long list of troubles. Fox has cancelled Prodigal Son after two seasons, TVLine has learned, turning the May 18 season finale into a series ender.

Fox declined to comment, but a network insider tells TVLine that the decision to pull the plug on the dramatic thriller was an “incredibly difficult” one, adding, however, that Prodigal Son‘s viewership was just too small to justify bringing it back for a third season.

The second season of “Prodigal Son” returns with a new episode Tuesday, beginning with an installment that properly introduces us to world-famous Europol profiler Simon Hoxley (played by guest star Alan Cumming).

Not everyone would eagerly hope to be welcomed into a family of killers, but then again, not everyone is Catherine Zeta-Jones.

The Academy Award winning actress joins the cast of “Prodigal Son” during the midseason finale, which airs Tuesday, March 2 on Fox, and Zeta-Jones spoke to reporters early Tuesday afternoon about her love of the part, the series, and its odd little family.

“I was a fan of the show,” Zeta-Jones said during the series’ TCA presentation. “What’s so different and powerful about ‘Prodigal Son’ is that it’s a family drama with a twist of danger. It’s a dark, dark family, and I gravitate toward darker material.”

Fox Entertainment has launched the digital docuseries “Making History in Hollywood,” featuring some of the network’s top Black stars as they discuss who and what inspires them in entertainment, and their experiences.

The first episode, which launches on Friday, Feb. 26, features Malcolm-Jamal Warner from Fox’s “The Resident.” First known for his role as Theo on “The Cosby Show,” and later for his Upn sitcom “Malcolm & Eddie,” Warner discusses the positive impact of watching Black representation on television during his childhood.

Other Fox stars who will participate in “Making History in Hollywood” include Dulcé Sloan (“The Great North”), Aurora Perrineau (“Prodigal Son”), Brian Michael Smith (“9-1-1: Lone Star”), Frank Harts (“Prodigal Son”) and others. Cumming will pop up in two episodes as Simon Hoxley, a cocky Europol agent and one of the world’s most celebrated criminal profilers, who’s also known as The Mind Sleuth.

The Black Lives Matter protests that flooded streets worldwide last summer have made way for one of Prodigal Son‘s most timely storylines — one in which a Black NYPD detective, Jt Tarmel, becomes the target of police brutality from fellow officers.

As evidenced by Tuesday’s episode of the Fox drama, Jt is not yet past the trauma of the incident, which found Jt getting assaulted and choked in the Season 2 premiere by another cop who profiled Jt and assumed him to be a criminal; it wasn’t until Jt’s colleagues intervened, with Dani flashing her police badge, that the violent cop eased up.

One Resident romance reached a major milestone on Tuesday’s episode… while another might be over before it even began.

We’ll start with the good news: Nic is pregnant! Just weeks after she and Conrad tied the knot, Nic is surprisingly expecting — and her pregnancy will “bring us to unexpected places” throughout Season 4, per co-showrunner Peter Elkoff.
