- Nathan Butera grew up on the bayou in Slidell, Louisiana. Like many who have made filmmaking their profession, Butera made short films in his backyard, first with a Super 8 camera and then on video. Butera received his MFA in Film and TV from New York University's Tisch School of the Arts and his BA from the University of Virginia where he concentrated on Creative and Dramatic writing. Butera moved to New York City after undergrad where he worked at a photo agency before going to NYU. Butera's first short film at NYU, titled Paws, was purchased by Canal Plus. While at NYU, Butera's script Topaz-55 was a finalist for a Sloan Foundation Grant. Butera's thesis film, Brother, was a finalist in the Student Academy Awards. Since graduation, Butera has made two feature-length documentaries, appears as himself in the nationally broadcast documentary The Pit, appears as an actor in the film BearCity 2 (as well as working as the 2nd Unit Director), and is the Executive Producer and Showrunner for his own original 14 episode television series about the lives of a group of Cape Cod residents in the winter titled Offseason.- IMDb Mini Biography By: Nathan Butera
