“I was shooting for Leo for about three days in Mumbai. It was a pleasure working with Lokesh and Vijay. They are both very talented and humble people. The singer’s brother, Denzil Smith, took to Instagram and revealed in an emotional video that B. Smyth, born Brandon Smith, died Thursday morning from respiratory failure after a long battle with pulmonary fibrosis. The actress, who was recently seen in the Alia Bhatt-starrer ‘Darlings’, shared the news about her health on her Instagram stories.

She wrote: “I have tested positive for Covid-19. Have immediately isolated myself and will be under home quarantine. I am following all safety protocols under the advise of my doctor. Requesting everyone who came in contact with me to get tested immediately too.”

Indian filmmaker Ishan Shukla has started the motion capture of his debut animated feature “Schirkoa” in Angoulême, France.

The film tells the story of a bored office worker, who may have accidentally sparked a revolution in a bizarre dystopian world, Schirkoa, where citizens live with paper bags on their heads to dissolve political, cultural and religious differences.

It is based on Shukla’s 2016 short film of the same name that travelled to more than 120 film festivals and earned 30 awards, including prizes at L.A. Shorts Fest, Siggraph Asia, Oaxaca FilmFest and Venice Film Week.

Voice over talent for the feature includes Golshifteh Farahani (“Invasion”), Asia Argento (“Sans Soleil”), Soko (“Mayday”), Arish Ahmad Khan aka King Khan, frontman of Berlin-based garage rock and psychedelic soul band King Khan and the Shrines, and Denzil Smith (“Tenet”) while Shahbaz Sarwar and Tibu Fortes will be making their film debut in the lead role.

When “Bellbottom,” starring Akshay Kumar, releases on Aug. 19, it will be the first major Bollywood film to release in Indian cinemas after a quarter devastated by the deadly second wave of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Only 50% of screens in India have reopened and many of them are operating at reduced capacity. The rest, including those in the Western Indian state of Maharashtra, home to Mumbai and the Bollywood and Marathi-language film industries, remain closed.

The film is an 1980s-set thriller set against the backdrop of a spate of Indian Airlines hijackings by forces hostile to India. Kumar plays an Indian secret agent code-named Bellbottom.

New Delhi, Dec 10 (Ians) Actor Denzil Smith claims his talent is appreciated more abroad, adding that he stumbled upon this fact while working with Hollywood filmmaker Christopher Nolan on his film, Tenet.

Exclusive: We recently caught up with Bollywood megastar Akshay Kumar (Rustom) about his latest movie, Bellbottom, the 80’s set spy movie which wrapped last week in Scotland.

Kumar also discussed his next projects and whether, given his huge following, he could be tempted into other fields such as politics.

Directed by Ranjit Tewari (Lucknow Central), Bellbottom [one word, according to the producers] also stars Vaani Kapoor (War), Huma Qureshi (Leila), Adil Hussain (Life of Pi), Denzil Smith (Tenet) and Lara Dutta (Hundred). Script comes from Aseem Arrora (Malang) and Parveez Shaikh (Bajrangi Bhaijaan).

The film is a Pooja Entertainment production in association with Emmay Entertainment, produced by Vashu Bhagnani, Jackky Bhagnani, Deepshikha Deshmukh, Monisha Advani, Madhu Bhojwani and Nikkhil Advani. Release is slated for April 2.

Christopher Nolan is known for crafting complex, mind-bending blockbusters that are as challenging as they are entertaining. But writing a complex central female character has never been Nolan's forte. The same is true of the filmmaker's latest movie Tenet, where Elizabeth Debicki's character of Kat has been accused by some of being reduced to the role of a damsel in distress. Bollywood period espionage thriller “Bellbottom,” starring Akshay Kumar (“Pad Man”), and directed by Ranjit Tewari (“Lucknow Central”) has wrapped its Scotland shoot, making it one of the first projects globally to start and complete its entire shoot during the coronavirus pandemic.

Producers Pooja Entertainment (“Coolie No. 1”) flew the 200-strong crew in a chartered flight to Glasgow and quarantined them for 14 days, creating a bubble, and completed the film in a 45-day schedule over August and September.

The unit worked closely with Scotland’s Screen Commission and adhered to Covid-safe guidelines. Besides medical-grade PPE, and required distancing, the production made it mandatory for all cast and crew to wear a watch that constantly monitored their oxygen levels, body temperature, blood pressure, stress levels and pulse. A centralized dashboard constantly recorded the parameters of the entire unit and kept a check for any changes in readings.

One of the most highly-anticipated movies of the year, Christopher Nolan's Tenet, was finally released last month. The movie offers a sci-fi twist on the classic spy genre. Audiences are loving the dashing suits and formal wardrobe of the characters in the movie. In an interview, the costume designer of the film Jeffrey Kurland explained how a specific era of James Bond inspired Tenet's fashion choices.

Blockbuster filmmaker Christopher Nolan is known for being an intensely private person, who shuns public attention unless he has a new movie to promote. The filmmaker recently made a rare appearance on social media in a news item unrelated to his new film Tenet, when Regal cinemas Tweeted a picture of Nolan with his wife Emma Thomas outside one of their theaters.

Nolan has visited the cinema not once but twice since theaters reopened, and not just to watch Tenet. Instead of spending money on tickets for his own film, Nolan is said to have watched Tri-Star's Broken Hearts Gallery, and Armando Iannucci's Searchlight feature The Personal History of David Copperfield.

Naturally, there is a deeper meaning behind Nolan's desire to be photographed coming out of a cinema hall wearing a mask.

Hugh Jackman has seen Tenet, and it sounds like he is very impressed with what he saw. The Wolverine actor has worked previously with Tenet creator Christopher Nolan on the 2006 movie The Prestige. Jackman took to Twitter to praise Tenet, deeming fans who are able to watch the film on the big screen 'lucky'.

Hugh Jackman is not the only major actor who is unconnected to the project to publicly voice his support for Tenet. Last month, Tom Cruise went so far as to record a video of himself watching the film in a crowded theater and posting the footage on Twitter.

At long last, Christopher Nolan's highly-anticipated spy thriller Tenet has arrived in theaters in America. The movie had opened in Canada last weekend, and together the two territories have provided Tenet with a cumulative haul of $20.2M to date at 2,810 theaters. Adding in the money from foreign markets, the movie's box-office adds up to a reasonable $150 million worldwide gross.

Two people were injured Sunday in Singapore when a ceiling partially collapsed during a screening of Tenet at the Shaw Theatres Nex Mall.

“It hurt because a piece of the ceiling hit my head, and my heart was racing. It was really confusing because we thought the sounds from the crashing was from speakers behind us,” one viewer called Venkat told Must Share News (Ms News), a local web publication.

The collapse happened around 5 Pm local time. That’s when a large section of the ventilation duct crashed through the ceiling, hitting attendees seated in the area. One of the injured was transported to the hospital by officers from the Singapore Civil Defence and Singapore Police Force.

“Unfortunately, two patrons were injured. They were quickly attended to by our staff and then by paramedics who arrived. They were subsequently taken to the hospital,” a spokesperson for the mall told Channel News Asia.

Filmmaker Christopher Nolan may have moved on from Batman, but the shadow of the Dark Knight was cast over his latest production Tenet, in the shape of Robert Pattinson, one of the leads in Nolan's new movie, who is also set to play Batman in Matt Reeves' upcoming trilogy. In an interview with The Irish Times, Pattinson recalled trying and completely failing to hide his audition for the role of the Caped Crusader from Nolan.
