  • Dravid has been honoured with the Padma Shri and the Padma Bhushan award, India's fourth and third highest civilian awards respectively.
  • He has faced 31258 balls, which is highest number of balls face by any player in test cricket. He has also spent 44152 minutes at the crease, which is highest time spent on crease by any player in test cricket.
  • Dravid announced his retirement from Test and domestic cricket on 9 March 2012, after the 2011-12 tour of Australia. He was the second-highest run scorer and had taken the highest number of catches in Test cricket at the time of his retirement.
  • Dravid emerged as the top scorer of his debut World Cup event (1999 World Cup) with 461 runs from 8 games at an average of 65.85 and a strike rate of 85.52.
  • He played his last ODI innings against England at Sophia Gardens, Cardiff, on 16 September 2011, scoring 69 runs from 79 balls before being bowled by Graeme Swann.
  • Former coach of the Indian Under-19 National Cricket Team, which under his tutelage won the Under-19 World Cup beating Australia in Australia, 2019. Also served as a batting consultant for overseas tours of the Indian National Cricket Team during the same period.
  • Prior to the 2011 tour of England, the only occassion his test century came in a losing cause was the one off test against Zimbabwe in 1998. But due to lack of depth in both the batting and bowling departments on the Indian side during this series, all of Dravid's 3 centuries went in vain as India was whitewashed 4-0, the tons being the last of his international career.
  • Represented Kent in English County Cricket.
  • Wisden Cricketer Of The Year 2000.
  • Formed a highly renowned middle-order batting partnership with VVS Laxman.
  • Only the second Indian since Sunil Gavaskar to score centuries in both innings of a single test on two separate occasions.
  • One of the only 7 batsmen to score over 10,000 runs in both tests and one-day internationals. The others include fellow Indian Sachin Tendulkar, South African Jacques Kallis, West Indian Brian Lara, Sri Lankans Kumar Sangakkara as well as Mahela Jayawardene and Australian Ricky Ponting.
  • Since Afghanistan and Ireland were given full test status after his retirement, barring South Africa, Sri Lanka and Australia, he averaged over 50 in each test playing nation he had toured.
  • When he scored a century against Bangladesh at Chittagong in 2004, he achieved a unique feat of becoming the first batsman to score a ton in each test playing nation active at that point of time, apart from becoming the jointly third batsman alongside Sachin Tendulkar and after South African Gary Kirsten and Australian Steve Waugh to score a century against each test playing nation.
  • Has been involved in two 300 plus partnerships in ODIs. The first being a partnership of 318 with Saurav Ganguly against Sri Lanka during the 1999 World Cup at Taunton. The second being a 344 stand with Sachin Tendulkar against New Zealand at Hyderabad in 2000.
  • Was the once the subject of a prank on the popular MTV show MTV BAKRA, where actress Sayali Bhagat pretended to be a die-hard admirer of Dravid and wanted to marry him at any cost. While initially oblivious to the happenings and terrified, when the team revealed itself on the spot, Dravid got a sigh of relief and mentioned he actually liked the experience.
  • The wall of the stand dedicated in his honor at his home ground, Chinaswamy International Stadium Bangalore, has been made using 13,288 bricks. It is the same number of runs he scored in test cricket. Also engraved on the wall are three C's expanding to COMMITMENT, CONSISTENCY, CLASS, 3 of which happen to be Dravid's guiding principles towards batting.
  • Took over as the full-time coach of the Indian National Cricket Team in November 2021.
  • Australian pacer Brett Lee paid his tributes to Dravid quoting "If you can't get along with Dravid, you are struggling in life" while Lee's long-term skipper and batting legend Steve Waugh advised the opposition that "If you can't get Dravid out within the first 15 minutes of his arrival at the crease, better try dismissing the rest of the team".
  • Once joked that his initial aim was to become a chartered accountant, but the moment he opened the first page of the textbook, his focus on cricket doubled.
  • As a part-time wicket-keeper in ODIs, he took 72 catches and effected 14 stumpings.
  • Went 120 ODI innings straight without a duck between August 1999 and February 2004, a world record.
  • During his penultimate ODI appearance against England in 2011, one of the the many tributful placards from the spectators read "Sachin Tendulkar is the God Of Cricket, Sourav Ganguly is the God Of The Off-Side, VVS Laxman is the God Of The Fourth Innings. But when the temple doors are closed, even Gods are behind The Wall".
  • In a controversial interview in 2011, Pakistani speedster Shoaib Akhtar stated that Dravid was more of a match saver but never a match winner or a finisher. Dravid politely rebuffed Akhtar's remarks, quoting everyone is entitled to his own opinion. However, senior Pakistani cricket greats like Wasim Akram, Waqar Younis and Zaheer Abbas chastised Akthar, commenting that the number of matches Dravid had won for India in both tests and ODIs was more than the matches Akthar had appeared in. Surprisingly, when Dravid retired from international cricket the following year, Akhtar paid rich tributes to Dravid, calling him the most technically correct batsman he had ever played against.
  • Was inducted into the ICC Cricket Hall Of Fame in 2018.
  • Registered 5 double centuries during his test career, all of them being in upward progression compared to the previous. His maiden double hundred was 200 scored against Zimbabwe scored at Delhi in 2000, his second was 217 scored against England at Headingley in 2002, his third was 222 scored against New Zealand at Ahmedabad in 2003, his fourth was 233 scored against Australia scored at Adelaide in 2003 and his fifth and final was 270 scored against Pakistan at Rawalpindi in 2004.
  • His father Sharad Dravid worked as an engineer in the Kisan Fruit Jam factory, which combined with his sweet looking face led to his nickname "Jammy".
  • In one of the "Hitler Rants" parodies regarding present day events from the war classic DOWNFALL(2004), when informed of Dravid's retirement, Hitler, played by Bruno Ganz, goes into a tirade asking whether "why Dravid had to be the nice guy yet again" as a reference to media's pressure upon senior cricketers like Dravid, Sachin Tendulkar and VVS Laxman to retire voluntarily and in conclusion ordering the Wehrmacht staff to call the then BCCI chief N. Srinivasan in order to ensure "India doesn't hold a test series outside Asia until it finds someone to bat like Dravid in overseas conditions".
  • Retired as Indian cricket team's head coach upon India clinching the 2024 ICC T20 World Cup beating South Africa in the finals. However, he mentioned that he would love to continue with coaching activities in First Class Cricket or even the Indian Premier League if the opportunity arises.
