Jared Leto's terrible Spider-Man villain spinoff film, Morbius, was an absolute flop with critics and didn't put up huge numbers at the box office. Any hopes of a sequel were dashed when the opening weekend numbers and first reviews appeared back in Mar. 2022. Yet it has become a streaming hit on Max, landing as high as the sixth spot on the Top 10.
The film follows biochemist Michael Morbius (Leto) as he tries to cure his rare blood disorder. Taking a chance, he tries a new solution which seems to work at first. But soon, the scientist ends up becoming a vampire. Morbius the character was one of Spider-Man's most interesting villains, because he was truly conflicted: he's a genuinely good man, yet he has to tame his vampire urges.

Morbius 2: Everything That You Need To Know About The Much-Awaited Movie ( Photo Credit – Instagram )
Sony’s Morbius brought a dark side to the Marvel Universe, bringing a unique twist to the superhero genre. While the movie was a critical and commercial failure, a sequel seemed inevitable. Released in 2022, Morbius earned $73 million domestically against a $75 million budget. As critics blamed its outdated plot, lackluster special effects, and disjointed story, some fans were impressed by the movie, giving it a 71% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes.
Despite this, Sony hasn’t entirely dismissed the possibility of Morbius 2. Given the post-credits scene that connects to the Venom universe, it highlights that Sony might have some plans for its broader Marvel slate. However, there are no concrete updates.
Is Morbius 2 Happening?
After Morbius’ poor performance, the likelihood of a second chapter is highly doubtful. But there’s still a chance that Morbius 2 can happen...

The Golden Globe nominee explained that he keeps a “sense of humour” about his role in Sony‘s Morbius (2022), chalking up his appearance in the maligned Spider-Verse spin-off to a paycheck during a recent interview.
“I have got a mortgage to pay, you know,” he told British outlet i News. “Sometimes you say yes to things because you need to make money.”
Harris explained, “I have observed that those types of films do well if you have a sense of humour. You can’t treat it as though it’s Shakespeare. So yeah, that movie could have done with a more mischievous sense of humour.”
The actor appeared in Morbius as Dr. Emil Nicholas, a mentor and father figure to Dr. Michael Morbius (Jared Leto), who runs a facility for people with incurable illnesses.

Given Sony Pictures' track record with its Marvel movies, no one had particularly high hopes for Morbius before it was released in 2022. Still, the potential for the Living Vampire to take centre stage in a fun, horror-tinged adventure was definitely there.
Unfortunately, the version we got was a disaster. Boasting one of the worst post-credits scenes ever put on film, Morbius was a mess of a movie which stars Matt Smith, Tyrese, and Al Madrigal have all suggested wasn't the project they signed up for (the entire final act was reworked with extensive reshoots).
Now, Mad Men star Jared Harris has weighed in; the actor didn't have the most memorable role as Dr. Emil Nicholas, Michael Morbius' father figure, though it's possible he had more to do before additional photography took place.

Morbius is infamous for underperforming upon release in 2022. Not only did the movie come up short at the box office, it was pummeled by the critics, garnering a 15% score on Rotten Tomatoes.
In a new conversation with Deadline, Morbius director Daniel Espinosa commented on directing the movie. He now says he realizes he wasn't a good "fit" for that project, as he's someone who tries to bring a lot of ideas to the projects he works on. The Way Back stars Ben Affleck as troubled coach Jack, tackling themes of alcoholism, grief, and personal redemption. Another Round, a 2020 film, explores alcohol abuse with a more lighthearted tone than The Way Back, offering a unique perspective. The Way Back may not be based on a true story, but it mirrors Ben Affleck's real-life struggle with alcoholism. Affleck's performance as Jack is praised in the movie, marking a major comeback for the actor. The film is more about overcoming emotional toll than winning on the court, focusing on the effects of addiction.
Gavin O'Connor's The Way Back may not be based on a true story, but it carries enough parallels to reality and to other sports movies to feel like it is. The movie sees Ben Affleck portray Jack Cunningham, a former high school basketball star who has since fallen on hard times with the collapse of his marriage following the death of his son. While Jack's depression from the tragic events of his life drives him to alcoholism, he begins to rebound after being recruited to coach the struggling basketball team at his old high school.

The The Way Back cast goes beyond lead actor Ben Affleck. The movie stars dramatic actors and comedy actors alike, including Al Madrigal and Janina Gavankar. The Way Back also boasts a robust ensemble cast featuring memorable performers from Percy Jackson and The Thing.
The Way Back cast extends far beyond its lead star Ben Affleck. The 2020 basketball drama was directed by Gavin O'Connor (reuniting with Affleck after helming his action-thriller The Accountant) from a screenplay by Brad Ingelsby, who is the son of a basketball coach. The movie, which cost roughly $25 million, suffered financially in its theatrical release, only earning $15.5 million because it was released shortly before the Covid-19 pandemic shut down theaters worldwide. However, it was well received by both critics and audiences, earning 84% scores from both groups on Rotten Tomatoes.

Actors George Lopez, Selenis Leyva and Al Madrigal reflected on their experience filming season two of the series Lopez vs. Lopez in their new uInterview.
The sitcom follows George and Mayan, a previously estranged father and daughter, as they make up for the lost time in their relationship. With George’s return to their lives, he becomes a dependable source of unorthodox parental wisdom for Mayan, especially regarding her son, Chance. Meanwhile, although they maintain a civil relationship, George’s former spouse, Rosie, still harbors some resentment toward him. The Lopez family perseveres through their fair share of family drama, fueled by the desire to stay on good terms.
Lopez described how he learned to make light of serious topics. “I think growing up, a lot of the times that people were losing it with alcohol, it just became funny,” he told uInterview founder Erik Meers. “My grandfather never danced.

So when the master creates a ten point list for how to create a successful field piece, you better believe other Daily Show correspondents pay attention.
In fact, according to current Tds staffers Desi Lydic and Troy Iwata, Colbert’s tips have become required reading for all new Daily Show news team members.
In Monday’s episode of The Daily Show: Ears Edition podcast, Lydic described how an email Colbert once wrote to Rob Riggle has been passed down from one generation of Daily Show correspondents to another.
“Rob passed it along to Al Madrigal, and Al passed it along to Jordan [Klepper], who passed it to us,” Lydic explained to Iwata. “And then we passed it to you.”
Iwata revealed that he’d actually received the email from three different people: Lydic,...

As February ends and March quickly approaches, Disney+ is adding a handful of new films to the mix. While the selection isn’t as vast as other streaming services, the movies on the table next month pack quite a punch. Despite the growing desire to head outside and finally see the sun after a cold winter, audiences might want to crack the blinds inside and cozy up on the couch. Although the list isn’t long, there are enough options to satisfy all movie lovers, especially those who enjoy watching films as a family.
Lovers of superhero films with anti-heroes will find something to enjoy outside the confines of the MCU, while a classic fairytale finds its way back to the streaming platform, a movie that will undoubtedly delight families across the board. Similarly, a Disney+ original documentary hits the platform next month and will likely inspire everyone to follow their dreams.
