John Beck-Hofmann is an award-winning director and cinematographer specializing in space-related and political documentaries. His work has been featured by NASA, Disney, National Geographic Channel, Discovery Channel, PBS, and in corporate image projects for Buildertrend, among others. Notable awards include an Emmy for Outstanding Science, Technology, and Nature Programming for Five Years on Mars; the People's Choice Award and Audience Award for Maidan Massacre at the Terra di Sienna International Film Festival and Eurasia.Doc Film Festival, respectively; and the Gold Plaque Award at the Chicago International Film Festival for The Pathfinders. John has also received NASA's Exceptional Achievement Medal for Seven Minutes of Terror and has been named NASA's Videographer of the Year four times.
John is the founder and creative director of Weatherman Films Productions, based in Omaha, Nebraska, and remains an affiliate of NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, California. In addition to his filmmaking expertise, John is a talented composer who has written original scores for multiple full-length TV documentaries, mini-series, and feature films.
