Catastrophic Truck Crash Destroys the Home of Grizz From ‘30 Rock’
Image
Grizz Chapman, who rose to national fame playing one-half of Tracy Jordan’s security detail on 30 Rock, has been left temporarily unhoused after a disastrous car crash caused a tractor-trailer to demolish his condominium in Prince William County, Virginia.

On Monday, a crash sent a semi-truck barreling into the Moorings of Occoquan Condominiums where Chapman, 50, lived for two years before the catastrophe. According to NBC Washington, an SUV driven by an unidentified 67-year-old man illegally pulled in front of the freight truck on the main boulevard near Chapman’s condo, causing the truck to T-bone the car and sending both vehicles sprawling off the road.

Now, Chapman is temporarily living in a nearby hotel, and he says that he’s lost almost all of his most valuable possessions, including numerous pieces of 30 Rock memorabilia from his time on the beloved sitcom. Chapman’s 30 Rock co-star and bodyguard partner,...

The Irrepressibly Chaotic World of Tracy Morgan, According to ‘30 Rock’s Grizz and Dot Com
Image
From his antics as a naked Jedi to him nearly stabbing Conan O’Brien, 30 Rock’s Tracy Jordan was an uncontrollable comedic wildman, which pretty much tracked with the guy who portrayed him: Tracy Morgan. And so, when it came time to cast Tracy’s fictional entourage, 30 Rock producers turned to two guys who had firsthand experience in at least trying to control Morgan’s worst impulses.

Kevin “Dot Com” Brown was the founder of The Uptown Comedy Club and Morgan’s first manager, while Grizz Chapman was a bouncer at a club Morgan frequented. On the show, Dot Com chimed in with deeply intellectual quotes about American history, while Grizz shared a hilariously fleeting romance with Tina Fey’s character, Liz Lemon. And although they were supposed to just orbit Jordan/Morgan’s world — and again, establish some kind of order to his chaos — they became beloved parts of...

Foster's Socially Conscious Wall Street Hostage Thriller Suffers from Triteness, Dishonesty
'Money Monster' with George Clooney and Jack O'Connell: TV celebrity and unwise investor/hostage taker. 'Money Monster' review: Jodie Foster movie suffers from both qualitative and intellectual disconnect Sometimes there's a difference between what a movie thinks it is and what it actually is. Usually it's a qualitative disconnect, as in “this movie thinks it's exciting but it's actually boring” or “this movie assumes Kevin Hart is funny when, in fact, he's not.” In the case of Money Monster, the divide is also an intellectual versus anti-intellectual one. The fourth film directed by Jodie Foster fancies itself a ripped from the headlines wail from the bottom of the economic ladder. A thriller-cum-exposé into how Wall Street and big media suckered average Americans into following the Pied Pipers of TV's financial punditry class over the cliff into economic ruin. However, the movie we're really getting is...

SAG Award Nominations Are In- Who Got In? Who Got Snubbed?
The award season is now in full swing. This morning, SAG-aftra announced the nominees for the 20th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards. Nominations and wins at these awards often add to one’s Oscar hopes, so it’s always interesting to see which projects are getting the most attention.

One neat personal note here is that, since I’ve been a card-carrying member of the Screen Actors Guild for 7 years, I get to cast my votes on all of these. Looking forward to that.

And the nominees are…

30 Rock Alum Is The Greatest Ever
Grizz Chapman
Grizz Chapman of 30 Rock fame was one of two genuinely likable characters on the show, Dot Com naturally being the other. Chapman, no stranger to sketch comedy, was enlisted by MyDamnChannel for a hilarious video above. 7'0" tall actor walks around Manhattan with Mark Malkoff, 5'7" Colbert Report Veteran, strapped to his chest in a baby carrier.

You may not be surprised, but this was not the first time Malkoff was transported around NYC with unorthodox assistance.

Mark Malkoff Checks Out New York City From A Baby’s Point Of View
Since he began producing The Mark Malkoff Challenge for distribution on My Damn Channel, MSN, and YouTube, comedian Mark Malkoff has engaged in a number of public stunts, ranging from crowdsourced beard shaving to out-of-season trick-or-treating to short-distance taxi riding. His latest effort is one of his most attention-grabbing ones yet. Malkoff has posted an episode where he entertains passersby and viewers alike by riding around Manhattan in a Baby Bjorn carried by 30 Rock actor Grizz Chapman. Chapman, who stands over seven feet tall, has more than enough strength to haul the 5'7" Malkoff around the city. Malkoff reacts to his Bjorn experience in the same way any of us would: with lots of smiles and naps. The only question is where Malkoff got a Bjorn so big that even he could fit in it. Maybe he stole from the nearly-14-pound baby who was recently born in Pennsylvania. "You...

'30 Rock': Alec Baldwin taking Jack Donaghy's wardrobe with him
Making Jane Krakowski look stunning is not difficult. Making the men of "30 Rock" look funny is.

Costume designer Tom Broecker, who has been with "30 Rock" since the beginning, succeeds.

Among the more challenging actors for whom to find clothes that fit are Tracy's (Tracy Morgan) buddies, Grizz and Dot Com (Grizz Chapman, Kevin Brown).

"One is 6-10, and one is 6-8," Broecker tells Zap2it. "Here is the thing: With this guy, part of the problem -- the speed with which the show has to happen, we are at the mercy of what is made by manufacturers. Sometimes we have the luxury of making the crazy stuff. We are at the mercy of the Internet and four stores in New York. Plus-size clothing for men and women is virtually impossible."

Having been with the show since its pilot, Broecker has accommodated the evolution of characters. "When we started this, they were the backups to Tracy,...

'30 Rock' Star Grizz Chapman: Give Me a Chance, Hollywood
Grizz Chapman
Grizz Chapman's character on 30 Rock is a study in confounding expectations: a mountain of a man who works as a body guard/assistant to Tracy Morgan's erratic nut of a comedian, he is thoughtful, smart and sensitive. Surprising? Perhaps at first, but Chapman hopes it's just the beginning of a career spent upending pre-conceived notions. With 30 Rock in its final season, the actor is plotting out his next moves, though it's not always easy dealing with casting directors. "I mean, why can’t a seven foot guy play a doctor?" he asked The Hollywood Reporter on Saturday. "Why can’t

Nominations for the 18th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards
The Screen Actors Guild has announced their list of nominations for the best performances of 2011. I have to point out that I'm surprised Tom Hardy and Joel Edgarton weren't nominated for their roles in Warrior, because they were pretty damn awesome in that film. I think they deserved a nom more than Leonardo DiCaprio. I'm a huge fan of DiCaprio but his performance in J. Edgar wasn't his best. Brad Pitt will end up taking home the award for Moneyball though. It was great to see Bridesmaids and The Help get a nomination for best ensemble cast. It will be interesting to see who takes home the award on this list, and how many of them will make their way to the Oscars.

Who would you like to see take home the award?

Here's the full press released with the list of Nominations:

After searching for love with Dennis the Beeper King (Dean Winters), Floyd (Jason Sudeikis), Dr. Drew Baird (Jon Hamm), Carol (Matt Damon) and "astronaut Mike Dexter," is it possible that Liz Lemon's (Tina Fey) one true love was right under her nose this whole time—in Tracy Jordan's entourage? 30 Rock Star Sounds The Alarm For Kidney Disease
Grizz Chapman is used to playing a supporting role, in his earlier life as a celebrity bodyguard and in his current role as part of Tracy Morgan’s entourage on the Emmy award-winning NBC hit show, “30 Rock.” But Chapman is taking the lead in the fight against kidney disease in his new role as spokesperson for the National Kidney Foundation and Chairman for the Foundation’s 2011 Kidney Walk series.

The National Kidney Foundation’s Kidney Walk events are held throughout the year in nearly 100 communities nationwide, totaling 75,000 walkers. Chapman will personally attend seven Kidney Walks, helping raise funds through the creation of Walk teams in each city. Local walkers can join his “Team Grizz” by visiting teamgrizz.com and supporting the foundation’s efforts in public education, early detection, advocacy and research.

Tracy Morgan Received Kidney From Nicest Ex-Girlfriend In The World
The fact that Tracy Morgan‘s ex-girlfriend gave him a kidney makes us think she might be the one that got away. At the SAG awards on Sunday, the 30 Rock star gave a shout-out to former flamer Tanisha Hall for floating him the organ last year. “I’d also like to thank Tanisha for donating my kidney to me,” Morgan told E!’s Giuliana Rancic on the read carpet. When asked how he knew his donor, Morgan practically blushed. “We were together but then we separated, but she also gave me a kidney…I’m doing fine and happy to be here,” he explained. Tracy must know some seriously dark relationship magic to pull that off. Hats off to you, Tracy!

Morgan received the transplant in December, after which we’re hoping Tanisha got a hovercraft with her name spray-painted on the side. Tracy’s co-star Grizz Chapman also received...

Tracy Morgan Receives Kidney Transplant, Will Miss Several 30 Rock Episodes
30 Rock star Tracy Morgan is recovering from a kidney transplant and will be written out of the NBC comedy for several episodes this spring as a result.

Executive producer Tina Fey and her staff will explain Tracy's absence by claiming he has a meltdown ... because of a good thing that happens to him.

Yup, sounds like 30 Rock.

It's unclear what necessitated the transplant, but Morgan has battled diabetes for years.

From a writer's perspective, at least this happened to a character you can have go crazy and attribute it to anything to at any time. But from all of us, get well soon, Tm/Tj.

Tracy isn't the first member of the cast to undergo this procedure: Grizz Chapman, who plays Tracy’s bodyguard/assistant Grizz, had a kidney transplant earlier this year.

Here's wishing him a speedy recovery from the surgery he underwent Dec. 10. Our 30 Rock quotes library will go on without him,...

Tracy Morgan Returns to '30 Rock' After Holidays
Comedian Tracy Morgan is recovering after undergoing a successful kidney transplant earlier this month. The "30 Rock" star, who suffers from diabetes, will spend the holidays recuperating from the surgery, but his health issue will not keep him away from the cameras for too long - he will only miss two episodes of the hit TV sitcom.

His representative tells GossipCop.com, "Tracy is doing well and taking some much needed time to recover after the surgery. He is looking forward to going back to work after the holidays." Rumor has it the writing team will explain his absence by saying his character has some sort of meltdown after a good thing happens to him.

Morgan isn't the only "30 Rock" castmember to need a new kidney - his co-star Grizz Chapman underwent similar surgery earlier this year.

Tracy Morgan Undergoes Kidney Transplant
Grizz Chapman
Los Angeles — "30 Rock" star Tracy Morgan is recovering from a kidney transplant. A statement released Monday by Morgan's publicist says Morgan is doing well and taking "much-needed time" to recover from the surgery earlier this month.

The statement says the actor-comedian looks forward to returning to work on the New York-based NBC sitcom after the holidays.

The 42-year-old Morgan plays the goofy star of a TV show on "30 Rock." Another "30 Rock" cast member, Grizz Chapman, also received a new kidney earlier this year.

NBC didn't immediately respond to a query about how Morgan's surgery would affect production of the sitcom.

'30 Rock': Tracy Morgan missing several episodes following kidney transplant
"30 Rock" is oddly plagued by kidney issues.

After a Season 3 storyline (and all-star song) about needing kidney and supporting player Grizz Chapman's transplant earlier in 2010, star Tracy Morgan has reportedly undergone a kidney transplant of his own.

EW reports Morgan, who was diagnosed with diabetes in 1996, had the procedure on or around Dec. 10. "Tracy is doing well and taking some much needed time to recover after the surgery," reads a statement from one of his representatives. "He is looking forward to going back to work after the holidays."

That recovery time isn't restricted to a bed. Morgan was spotted at Dec. 17 Knicks game in New York.

Morgan is expected to miss between 2 and 3 March episodes of "30 Rock" during his break from filming. EW also reports that his absence is being written into the series as the result of a meltdown following some good thing that happens to his character.

Tracy Morgan 'Doing Well' After Kidney Transplant
This is nothing to laugh about. E! Online reports that 30 Rock funny-man Tracy Morgan has gone under the knife to receive a kidney transplant. The good news? The 42-year-old comic actor is recovering nicely. The bad news? He'll be sidelined from his hit sitcom for a bit. A rep for Morgan says, "Tracy is doing well and taking some much needed time to recover after the surgery." Morgan is expected to miss two episodes of 30 Rock this season due to the surgery, an absence that will be explained away with some "happy news," a 30 Rock source says. Interestingly, Morgan's co-star, Grizz Chapman—who...

Tracy Morgan Receives A Kidney Transplant, Is “Doing Well”
Our Christmas gift came early this year, because word is 30 Rock’s Tracy Morgan received a kidney transplant around December 10, and he’s already almost back on his feet! “Tracy is doing well and taking some much needed time to recover after the surgery,” his rep confirmed. We’re glad to hear he’s on the mend, but are still planning a candlelight vigil until New Year’s. No way are we giving up our Tracy Jordan. Amazingly Tracy, who was diagnosed with diabetes in 1996, will only miss two or three 30 Rock episodes set to air in March and will be “looking forward to going back to work after the holidays,” says his rep. Coincidentally Morgan is actually the second cast member to require a kidney transplant this year. Co-star and Tracy Jordan posse member Grizz Chapman also received a kidney in August after suffering from end-stage renal failure. If...

Exclusive: Tracy Morgan recovering from surgery, will miss several episodes of '30 Rock'
Tracy Morgan
Expect a huge void on Tgs in March: EW has learned exclusively that Tracy Morgan — aka Tracy Jordan, the star of the show within the show, 30 Rock — will miss at least two episodes of the NBC comedy because he’s recovering from surgery. The comedian underwent a kidney transplant on or around Dec. 10 and though the surgery was successful — he was seen at a Knicks game on Friday – the writers are giving him plenty of time to recover.

EW has learned that executive producer Tina Fey and her team of scribes plan to address Morgan’s absence by saying he...

Apparently the comedian underwent a successful surgery on Dec. 10, but the writers of his hit show are allowing extra time for him to recover. He'll be missing from several episodes set to air in March.

Grizz Chapman, who plays a member of Morgan's entourage on the show, also underwent a kidney transplant this year.

‘The Fighter’ & ‘The King’s Speech’ Lead Screen Actors Guild Award Nominees
Today the nominations for the 17th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards was released. The King’s Speech and The Fighter received the most nominations, with four each. Thankfully the Guild seems to know what they are doing unlike The Golden Globes who pretty much screwed up all the nominations.

The nominees here are usually a very strong indication of how the acting award nominees will play out at the Oscars. King’s Speech has long been an Oscar favourite, but David O. Russell’s The Fighter has gained considerable steam in the past few weeks. Last year, 19 out of 20 SAG nominees went to the Oscars as well so you can be sure that The Fighter and King’s Speech will get a best picture nomination. The 17th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards will be simulcast live on TNT and TBS on January 20th. See the complete list below.

17th Annual SAG Awards Nominations
The Screen Acors Guild has released their award nominations for their upcoming 17th annual award ceremony, which will take place on January 30, 2011.

There are some great nominations here. My favorite picks include Christian Bale for his role in The Fighter, Natalie Portman in her role in Black Swan, and Jesse Eisenberg for his role in The Social Network. As much as I love most of these films, I'm surprised that Inception is no where to be seen. That was one of the best films of the year and it seems to be escaping a lot of the nominations in all the award ceremonies this year.

Check out the list of Film and TV nominations below and tell us what your favorite are!

SAG Nominees Announced - Chris Colfer Up for Lifetime Achievement Award
Okay, totally kidding about the Colfer Lifetime Achievement Award thing - that will be going to Ernest Borgnine. But does it seem to you that the kid who plays Kurt Hummel is getting an awful lot of awards season love? (And wouldn't McHale's Navy have been so much better with him in it?)

The latest outpouring of Colfer acclaim comes from the Screen Actors Guild who announced their 17th annual SAG nominees this morning.

The Glee cast is up for a comedy ensemble award, but Colfer was the only cast member other than Jane Lynch to be recognized individually. And given who he's up against he's almost certain to be the frontrunner!

Another bit of good news for a Glbt favorite, The Kids Are All Right, scored individual acting nods for Annete Bening, Mark Rufallo, and also a nomination for Outstanding Performance by a Cast.

Screen Actors Guild Award Nominees Announced & It’s Less “Colorful” Than The Golden Globes
The complete list of nominations for the 17th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards follows below. The ceremony will be held on January 30th, 2011.

Nothing really to highlight here, unfortunately. SAG voters apparently didn’t care for Halle Berry’s performance as much as the Golden Globes did, because she’s not on this list. And neither is Idris Elba, who was also nominated for a Golden Globe. The cast of For Colored Girls got no love either.

The significance here is that SAG nominees and winners are voted on by members of the union – essentially, their peers.

But one thing that should be obvious by now is that the Oscar race is going to come down to 4 films and the performances in those films: The Social Network, Black Swan, The King’s Speech, and The Fighter. I still have to see the last 2.
