[This interview was conducted prior to the SAG-AFTRA strike authorization.] How well do you know Jeremy Sisto‘s TV and film characters? Is it as well or perhaps better than he does? When Sisto stopped by TV Insider’s office in the spring (ahead of the FBI–Most Wanted–International crossover event and before the actors’ strike), we not only had to have him dish on his costars and recall his audition for Clueless, but also test his knowledge of his own characters. What makes it tricky is that Sisto has played law enforcement characters on at least three shows — Detective Jack Roth on Wicked City, Detective Cyrus Lupo on Law & Order, and currently Assistant Special Agent Jubal Valentine on FBI (returning for its sixth season on CBS) — and so some of those quotes are very similar … and therefore not the easiest for Sisto to answer. But his characters elsewhere, like in Clueless and on...

Adapted from Cj Tudor's novel, the show sees Morton’s Reverend Jack Brooks and her daughter Flo arriving in the village seeking a fresh start.
They soon find it's rife with conspiracies and secrets, and that uncovering the truth can be deadly in a community with a bloody past. Receiving bad news is never easy, especially on your birthday.
For Melbourne director S.K Dale, turning a year older last year coincided with the news that production on his feature directorial debut Till Death had been suspended as a result of Covid-19.
“We were preparing to shoot in March 2020 and then it was my birthday when they said, ‘Sorry, we have to shut down the studio and everyone’s flying home,'” he told If.
“At that stage, we had no idea what was going on and I wasn’t sure if that was the beginning and end of my film career.”
Fortunately, production on the action thriller resumed a few months later in August and is now set for a worldwide digital launch following a US cinematic and digital release earlier this month.

It doesn’t seem like that long ago that Megan Fox was starring in the Transformers franchise, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Jennifer’s Body. Now she’s starring in Machine Gun Kelly videos and Till Death, a low-budget variation on Gerald’s Game. Hoping her taste in scripts was better than her taste in music I pressed play…
Emma (Megan Fox) is married to Mark who’s gone from prosecutor to sleazy defence attorney. How sleazy? He freely admits he’s happier making big money keeping scum like Bobby Ray, the man who mugged and nearly killed Emma out of jail than he was working hard to put them away. Innocent, guilty, who cares as long as they pay. Needless to say, it’s not the happiest of marriages.

Megan Fox hopes to see a debut in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) or the DC Entertainment Universe (Dceu) in her future. Fox, who's no stranger to major franchises with her roles in the Transformers and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles series, recently spoke at length about her career in a new interview with The Washington Post. She touches on many of the roles she's portrayed in her 20-year career, from the horror movie Jennifer's Body to the modern sitcom New Girl.
So, what might be next for Megan Fox at this stage in her life? Apparently looking for the next big thing, Fox told the publication that she grew up as a fan of comic books and graphic novels, and would "love to be a part of the Marvel or DC Comics universes." She doesn't name any specific characters, nor does she state whether she'd want to be a superhero or supervillain,...

Questlove’s Summer of Soul is up to 753 theaters as the doc about the 1969 ‘Black Woodstock’ concert in Harlem that debuted in two locations last weekend crossed into arthouse, commercial and urban venues.
Not that it was easy, said Frank Rodriguez, SVP General Sales Manager, Searchlight Pictures. “Exhibitors are eager to get back on track,” he said. “We had to push very hard in a crowded marketplace” that includes The Boss Baby: Family Business, The Forever Purge and week two of the first true post-Covid blockbuster, F9.
Rodriguez cited notable performances in Brooklyn, San Francisco and Georgetown in D.C. after what was basically an extended promo in NY and LA. Deadline is hearing from industry estimates that Thursday night came in north of $78K.

“I’m gonna cut myself free of you even if it’s the last thing I do.” The line, uttered by Emma (Megan Fox) to her husband the morning after celebrating their 10th anniversary at their remote lake house, is the kind of on-the-nose dialogue that sums up the bluntness of S.K. Dale’s wintry-set thriller, “Till Death.”
Emma, you must know, is not (just) speaking figuratively. She did really feel trapped, in a way, in her loveless marriage to dashing if increasingly menacing lawyer Mark (Eoin Macken). A line like “I thought you were gonna wear the red dress” sent chills down her spine; a request to wear a blindfold lest a romantic surprise be spoiled filled her with her terror; this was a woman who was clamoring for an escape route. It’s why she’d taken to sleeping with one of her husband’s colleagues behind his back,...

For its first act, Till Death tries keeping things muted. S.K. Dale directs his cast to deliver lines as if they’re somewhere between whispering and talking; cinematographer Jamie Cairney shoots with the brand of ruby-tinged glossiness that the last decade has really leaned into as a visual shorthand for wealth and privilege; dialogue from screenwriter Jason Carvey funnels us bits of exposition.
Emma (Megan Fox) was collateral damage in a botched robbery 10 years ago. She married Mark (Eoin Macken), a lawyer involved in the case, just over a year later, which went south. She turned to having an affair with one of Mark’s colleagues, Tom (Aml Ameen), but now she’s decided to cut it off. She even turns down plans to see Tom the next day, and when he asks why, she breathes while facing away from him: “‘Cause it’s my anniversary.”
This sort of dialogue continues,...

The official trailer for Screen Media's Till Death has been released. The trailer shows Megan Fox chained to a corpse. It would seem that the dead man in this case is her deceased husband. The thriller, due for a July 2nd, 2021 release - both on VOD and as a planned, albeit limited theatrical run - also marks the directorial debut of S.K. Dale. The film is written by (perhaps the aptly named) Jason Carvey.
Based on the trailer, the movie appears to follow the familiar home invasion formula. The added wrinkle here however is Megan Fox's character Emma being chained to the body of what we're led to believe is (was) her husband Mark. You'd be forgiven for suspecting that the film is familiar to but with a slight deviation on the premise of Stephen King's novel Gerald's Game - itself adapted into a well received 2017 Netflix film.

"She's still in the house." Screen Media has released the first official trailer for an intense survival horror thriller titled Till Death, marking the feature directorial debut of S.K. Dale. Arriving this July in just a few more weeks. Megan Fox has been making quite a comeback in all kinds of off-kilter films recently, including Rogue and Midnight in the Switchgrass. The premise for this is just as crazy: After a romantic evening in their secluded lake house, Emma awakens handcuffed to her dead husband. Trapped and isolated in the dead of winter, she must fight off hired killers to escape her husband's twisted plan. Starring Megan Fox as Emma, with Callan Mulvey, Eoin Macken, and Jack Roth. This reminds me of the Stephen King story Gerald's Game, with a much darker side in the two guys there to take her out. Doesn't look half bad, I'd say. Here's the...

Screen Media has unveiled a July 2 release date for the new Megan Fox thriller Till Death. The film will receive a limited theatrical release along with the now standard On-Demand option just ahead of Independence Day weekend, an ironic release date considering the plot of the movie revolves on the idea its lead has anything other than independence. The story centres on Emma, Fox's character, who finds herself handcuffed to her dead husband and under threat from two hit men. If polls were run to see who the most iconic personality in music is, the results would certainly lean towards Queen frontman Freddie Mercury, the bastion of beautifully flamboyant, unchecked and unmatched opulence. Decades after his untimely passing from AIDS and his presence is one both widely felt and deeply missed. Of course that means a life as flashy, defiant and legendary as his would make for a great movie, as its taken near thirty years for that life to grace the big screen. After watching it, though, who the hell at 20th Century Fox thought any of what passes for history and entertainment in Bohemian Rhapsody was right? And what’s worse is this is what audiences and Queen fans think is masterful and respectful storytelling?!
To say it paints by numbers and connects dots in its exploration of the rise, “fall and redemption” of Queen throughout the 1970s...

Us and Them… Sums up the current state of the scocio-political climate perfectly don’t you think? The haves and the have-nots. The rich and the poor. It’s a class war that has been raging for longer than many can remember and one that won’t be ending anytime soon. And that idea of a class war, the struggle between rich and poor, seems to be what writer/director Joe Martin is aiming for with this, his first feature film. Only he does it by way of a home invasion thriller!
The film tells the story of three rough and ready British lads, intent on making a grand and brutish statement on economic inequality in the UK, use one upper crust family as their sacrificial lamb.

A banker’s family home is invaded by thugs in a gritty drama whose message gets swamped by a third-act bloodbath
When posh young woman Phillipa (Sophie Colquhoun) brings her boyfriend back to meet her callous banker dad (Tim Bentinck) and prissy mum (Carolyn Backhouse), lunch is rather spoiled when class warfare breaks out. The boyfriend Danny (Jack Roth), turns out to be not only a rude young chap with a broad Estuary accent, he’s also an armed robber.
Determined to fill in the chip on his shoulder and make daddy pay for all the banking bailout of 2008, he and his mates (Andrew Tiernan and Daniel Kendrick) tie up the family and threaten them with violence unless dad opens his home safe. But first Danny insists on giving them lectures about their moral turpitude while filming himself as jokey intertitles introduce flashbacks. All in all, the effect is like...

It’s clear that writer/ director Joe Martin’s Us and Them could be interpreted as a manifestation of Brexit/ Trump diffidence and economic inequality, donned in the garb of a home invasion thriller. Sadly though, Martin mishandles the drama and analogies in this slipshod big screen cine-manifesto that’s neither edifying, terrifying or entertaining.
The surface story is straightforward: a wealthy family become the target of subjugated Brit delinquents who invade their home and use the attack to make a political statement, while robbing the place blind in the process. The script breaks this down into chapters while transcending time and just about hits its beats to evade brain raking tedium. The production/ execution is passé and inept, smacking more of Michael Winner on a bad day than the films it tries to emulate, but Us and Them’s politics are very contemporary.

While the seasons may be changing for the better, there are still plenty of reasons to stay home this April, as there are numerous genre films hitting VOD and digital platforms that are well worth your time. IFC Midnight has a trifecta of cinematic treats planned this month, with Lowlife arriving on April 6th, Wildling coming out on the 13th, and Ghost Stories making its digital debut in the Us on April 20th. For those of you looking to check out Deep Blue Sea 2, the wait is finally over on the 17th, and for those looking to experience some movies with more of a dramatic flavor, both Tilt and the controversial Us and Them hit VOD on April 10th.
Other notable digital releases for April 2018 include Dead on Arrival (4/2), Corbin Nash (4/20), William Friedkin’s exorcism documentary The Devil and Father Amorth (4/24), and Winchester (4/17) for digital platforms, while those hoping...

Joe Martin’s Us And Them is less a dangerous class-warfare battle and more a steamy soapbox rant. It’s positioned as “a deadly game of chance,” but don’t expect some Saw-like torture chamber. Anti-establishment angst fuels a fire that rages in the name of social responsibility, through tirades that attack fat-cat bankers who “don’t understand” a working man’s struggle. You can see where Martin draws influence from Guy Ritchie (narrative choices) and Michael Haneke’s Funny Games, yet Us And Them‘s bark is worse than its bite. This is a human story about people who look for answers in all the wrong places, and the chaos that ensues. Blowhard, ill-conceived chaos that goes up or down in flames, depending on your personal outlook.

For his feature film debut, UK director Joe Martin brazenly takes on the class divide of Britain in Us and Them, his crime thriller that follows a frustrated young man named Danny, played by Jack Roth, who takes out his anger on the wealthy and elite members of society by kidnapping a well-to-do family, which doesn’t go exactly as he planned.
While at the 2017 SXSW Film Festival, Daily Dead took a deep dive into the political and economical focus of Us and Them with both Martin and Roth, resulting in a fascinating discussion on the problems that have caused a great division both in the UK and the world at large.

The most that any of us can hope for is just surviving. Isn’t it time we started living? Us and Them squarely takes on economic pressures that are building in the UK (and frankly, issues that are affecting nearly every other country on the map these days), as Danny (Jack Roth), a member of the lower class who recently lost his father to suicide, decides to take his frustrations out on a wealthy banker and his family to inspire others in his predicament to start fighting back against the elite. But when his plan goes south, that’s when all hell breaks loose, and we see just how much of a motivator money can be, especially when it comes to murder.

There always has to be a first TV show cancellation and this season's came much later than expected. Though several new shows have been essentially cancelled (Minority Report, Blood & Oil, Truth Be Told, and The Player), they are all still on the air. On Friday the 13th, ABC pulled the plug on their newest (and lowest-rated) drama after just three episodes.
Wicked City is set on the seedy Sunset Strip in the early 1980s. It revolves around Detective Jack Roth (Jeremy Sisto) and his new partner Paco Contreras (Gabriel Luna) as they try to solve a high-profile serial killer case. The rest of the show's cast includes Ed Westwick, Erika Christensen, Taissa Farmiga, Karolina Wydra, Evan Ross, Anne Winters, and Jaime Ray Newman.

It looks like we finally have the first cancellation of the 2015-16 season. Four new shows have seen their episode orders cut (Truth Be Told, The Player, Blood & Oil, and Minority Report) but they've all stayed on the air. Tonight, ABC cancelled and pulled their low-rated Wicked City anthology drama after three airings.

Last year, ABC introduced a gritty anthology series called American Crime. It didn't do very well in the ratings but the network renewed it for a second season anyway. Now, ABC has introduced another one called Wicked City. How will this one fare? Will it be cancelled or renewed for a second season as well? Stay tuned.

Set in 1980s Los Angeles, there’s a plethora of movies, television shows, and books, both fictional and true, that ABC’s new crime drama Wicked City can’t help but emulate. The new series follows the beginnings of a romantic tryst between a pair of deeply scarred individuals that eventually leads to a series of brutal murders along the Sunset Strip. Sometimes the series evokes the air of Se7en, or the overbearing dread of Zodiac, but it’s fashioned and packaged inside the most redundant and rudimentary network procedural possible, and adheres to such a sour and distasteful tone, that none of the terror sticks.
That terror originates from Kent Grainger (Ed Westwick), who infiltrates bars on the Sunset Strip each night, posing as whatever his potential target might need (casting agent, real estate mogul, etc) and inviting them out to...

L.A.’s Sunset Strip was where people went to see and be seen in the early 1980s — but the glitz and glamour had a dark side, which is the backdrop for the first season of ABC’s gritty new crime anthology, Wicked City.
