Movies have always had a way of connecting people and communities, as well as challenging the typical norms of society. While everyone loves a classic rom-com, things go up a notch when a movie tries to break barriers by telling stories that, in one way or another, push against societal taboos, especially when it comes to love, acceptance, and identity.
Roshan Sethi’s A Nice Indian Boy is such a movie that promises to bring a refreshing take on romance by exploring a same-sex relationship, that too with a mix of traditional Indian family values. With changing times, more and more filmmakers have embraced such storylines.

Director Roshan Sethi’s romantic-comedy feature hits theaters April 4 from Blue Harbor Entertainment. Hailing from Levantine Films and Wayfarer Studios, the movie also stars Sunita Mani, Zarna Garg, Harish Patel, Peter S. Kim and Sas Goldberg.
A Nice Indian Boy centers on Naveen (Soni), an introverted doctor grappling with introducing his artist boyfriend, Jay (Groff), to his traditional Indian parents amid the possibility of planning a big wedding.

Which Deadpool Star Is Featured In Justin Baldoni’s A Nice Indian Boy? ( Photo Credit – YouTube )
Justin Baldoni, the multihyphenate filmmaker behind It Ends With Us, is back with a new film titled A Nice Indian Boy. The actor-director remains ensnared in a legal maelstrom since Blake Lively leveled accusations of s*xual harassment and more against him — a controversy that swelled when The New York Times’ exposé turned the cinema realm against him.
Baldoni countered these claims with defamation suits against The Times and Lively and Ryan Reynolds, striving to enunciate his side of the story. He alleges a couple of extortion, bullying, and other misconduct, maintaining that their coercion forced his Wayfarer Studios to capitulate to the Colleen Hoover adaptation, incurring steep losses in ventures as deals soured.

Ahead of SXSW, one of last year's critical darling rom-coms from the event is preparing to charm viewers in theaters. Wayfarer Studios released the official trailer for A Nice Indian Boy showing the awkward, blossoming romance between Karan Soni and Jonathan Groff. Adapted from Madhuri Shekar's play of the same name, the film centers on the Deadpool and Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse star's mild-mannered, introverted doctor, Naveen Gavaskar, as he slowly falls for the Frozen veteran's confident and sincere Jay. When it comes time to take Jay to meet his traditional East Indian parents, however, cultures collide, creating "comic misunderstandings, frank fights, and emotional revelations" that shake the family to its foundations.

"Invincible" has the most star-studded voice cast you're likely to find anywhere on an American animated TV show. From its leading trio of Steven Yeun, Sandra Oh, and J.K. Simmons to supporting stars like Gillian Jacobs, Walton Goggins, Sterling K. Brown, Peter Cullen, and others, it's hard to keep track of the many award-winning performers who've lent their vocal talents to the Amazon series. Perhaps that's why many viewers didn't notice that Mahershala Ali was recast for the show's third season, with Todd Williams taking over the role of Titan.
In fairness, Titan was entirely absent from "Invincible" season 2, leaving a few years for fans to forget his exact voice. And to his credit, Williams does a great job with the character in season 3. A sympathetic henchman and occasional vigilante early on, Titan is kind of a blend of Marvel's The Thing and Luke Cage. He sets himself up as...

As one of the biggest contemporary interdisciplinary artists in the world, it's hard to remember a time when Ariana Grande wasn't a household name. In 2024 alone, she released seventh studio album "Eternal Sunshine" to a red hot commercial reception and solid reviews from critics, before turning in an Academy Award-worthy performance in the blockbuster Universal Pictures musical adaptation "Wicked," which is nominated for Best Picture at the Oscars.
Grande's rise in popularity over the past decade has indeed been something to behold, given that she was once one of countless child stars struggling to break into the mainstream entertainment industry. After making her Broadway debut in the musical "13," this lifelong theater kid would find success on the Nickelodeon network before breaking out into a solo recording career that would turn her into a global icon virtually overnight. As we await the release of "Wicked: For Good," we've taken...

When Glee first hit television screens in 2009, it was a cultural phenomenon. A show about a ragtag group of high school misfits belting out Top 40 hits? Instant gold. It brought us memorable musical performances, a new wave of theater kid appreciation, and an ensemble cast that seemed to have the world at their feet.
For a while, Glee seemed unstoppable. It won Emmys, topped music charts, and turned its stars into household names. But as the seasons progressed, cracks started to show.

Reports of on-set friction and demanding schedules led to speculation that the once-tight-knit cast had soured on the experience. And at the heart of it all? Ryan Murphy, the mastermind behind the show, had somehow developed a bad image in the media.

Dave Bautista’s Rom-Com Dream! (Photo Credit – Instagram)
Dave Bautista wants to star in a rom-com. No explosions, no apocalyptic threats — just love, laughs, and maybe a slow-motion run through the rain. But Hollywood doesn’t seem to be calling, and he’s starting to wonder why.
“I know I’m not your typical rom-com lead,” he admitted at the Knock at the Cabin premiere in New York City. “I’m a little rough around the edges. But I always, you know, I look in the mirror and I say, I ask myself, ‘Am I that unattractive? Is there something that unappealing about me that excludes me from these parts?’”
The man has played an intergalactic warrior, a deadly spy, and a literal apocalypse-bringer. But a charming bookshop owner who falls for an equally quirky co-star? Not yet. “I don’t know. It’s just never come my way,” he said.

Say what you will about the British tabloids but they've always been pretty on point when it comes to Doctor Who gossip. As we first reported on SFFGazette.com, The Sun has run a story claiming that Ncuti Gatwa is indeed moving on from the series when the upcoming second season ends.
The trades said that was a possibility last year and, according to the site's sources, "Ncuti doesn’t want to be tied to the series beyond this and plans to relocate to Los Angeles with several Hollywood projects standing by for him."
"His team also see a lot of fan backlash from the series, and don’t want the perception of him still being The Doctor to get in the way of any future work," the insider alleges. "The show has been poorly managed in recent years and there’s a lot of people who’ve been working...

In August, Justin Baldoni believed Pac-Man, the yellow, pellet-eating protagonist of the 1980s arcade game, could be the hero he needed to help change the messy narrative surrounding the release of It Ends With Us.
For weeks, rumors of a feud between director-star Baldoni and his co-star Blake Lively had dominated entertainment news headlines, and he was looking for a way to turn the page. According to a text he sent his PR team on Aug. 18, Baldoni suggested sharing the news that he would next direct a Pac-Man movie, something he hoped would help him “move towards the future.”
But Pac-Man, which Baldoni and his Wayfarer Studios were developing since 2022, may no longer be in his future. It is among at least a trio of projects that are now in doubt as friction with Lively turned from internet curiosity into a full-fledged legal war.

Josh Gad recently shared some exciting news about Frozen 3 on The Spotlight with Jessica Shaw podcast, though he couldn’t spill too much. The movie is expected to hit theaters in Thanksgiving 2027, but there’s a solid reason behind the long wait.
Gad, who voices Olaf, revealed that the delay is to ensure the movie is more than just another sequel. Disney wants to make sure it’s truly worthy of the beloved first film from 2013.
Gad explained that the team is working hard on crafting a story that will live up to the huge success of both Frozen and its 2019 sequel. He promised that Disney is putting in the effort to deliver something fans will be excited about after all these years. But, he warned, any further details could land him in hot water with Disney’s legal team.

Going into this year’s Grammys, each of the six nominees for Best Musical Theater Album has its own distinct advantages, from involvement of previous nominees/winners to encouraging statistics. So let’s consider the possibilities.
The frontrunner to win based on the official Gold Derby odds is Hell’s Kitchen. It’s a jukebox musical mining the song catalog of Alicia Keys, who also wrote a few original tunes for the show. Jukebox musicals in general tend to be catnip for voters in this category as they contain material voters are familiar with. Previous champs include Jersey Boys, which used the songs of Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons; American Idiot, an adaptation of Green Day‘s eponymous 2004 concept album; Beautiful: The Carole King Musical, which featured Carole King‘s song catalog; and Jagged Little Pill, an adaptation of Alanis Morissette‘s 1995 album.
Keys has plenty of bona fides.

'Frozen 3' isn't being released until 2027 because they don't want it to just be "a money grab".Josh Gad, who voices snowman Olaf in the beloved blockbuster Disney franchise, insists they don't want to "rush" the third movie and give fans a flick that is “absolutely worthy” of the 2013 original.Speaking on 'The Spotlight with Jessica Shaw' podcast on SiriusXM, he said of the follow-up to the 2019 musical fantasy: "Anything that I have seen or know I will have been sworn to secrecy on."He continued: “Here’s what I can tell you. “There’s a reason the movie is coming out in 2027. And that is because no one wants to rush this. Everyone wants this to not just be a sequel or a money grab. They want this to be absolutely worthy of the story we set out to make in 2013 [in the first Frozen movie]."The original voice cast...

The third season of Invincible premieres in just a couple weeks! Prime Video has thus far done a fantastic job adapting Robert Kirkman's vibrant superhero comic for the small screen. Part of that success can be chocked up to the incredible voice cast. Oscar nominee Steven Yuen plays Mark Grayson, aka Invincible, a teenager who's starting out into the exciting, violent world of superheroism. His father Omni-Man, the breakout character of the show, is played by gravel-voiced icon J. K. Simmons, and his mother Debbie by Emmy winner Sandra Oh. Other notable voices include Mark Hamill, Seth Rogen, Zachary Quinto, Walton Goggins, Zazie Beetz, Clancy Brown, Nicole Byer, Jason Mantzoukas, Jonathan Groff, Ben Schwartz, Sterling K. Brown and Family Matters' own Reginald VelJohnson.
It's an incredibly impressive cast for what at first glance might look like an updated version of the kinds of Saturday morning cartoons kids watched back in the day.

The Matrix 5 has been confirmed, but very few details about the film's plot have been revealed yet. It's unclear whether a story has been written, or even if an idea exists, but the project will surely be another inventive and subversive take on the franchise in the same vein as The Matrix: Resurrections. While this is exciting news, it will also be difficult for this sequel to live up to the heights of the movies that came before it. After everything that went wrong with The Matrix: Resurrections, the next film has lots of work to do.
Whether The Matrix 5 opts to be another sequel, a new prequel, or even a spinoff, it can't veer too far away from the existing formula if it wants to appease returning fans of the franchise. This is one mistake that the fourth installment made, trying so hard to be different and fresh that...

There have been many brilliant Doctor Who theories over the years, but only a selection ever actually came true. From the classic to modern eras, audiences have continued to form their own intricate Doctor Who theories. These theories highlighted just how dedicated the show’s fanbase was, which created deeper meanings and expanded upon some of the greatest Doctor Who stories of all time.
Every incarnation of the Doctor in Doctor Who was wrapped up in one or another of these theories, but many were simply just that: theories. While some Doctor Who theories haven’t been confirmed or denied, most were eventually shut down by showrunners or disproved by the show’s canon. However, some of these theories turned out to be correct, or were even added into Doctor Who’s lore because of how great they were.

Josh Gad explains why one Olaf scene had to be changed for Frozen II. Known for his adorable song "In Summer" in 2013's Frozen, Olaf is the jovial snowman in the Frozen movies. Gad, who has performed on Broadway, contributed his vocal talents to Olaf for the movie. He is joined by a talented Frozen voice cast including Idina Menzel, Kristen Bell, Jonathan Groff, and Ciarán Hinds. Gad is set to reprise his snowman role in Frozen 3, which is set for release in 2027.
In his memoir In Gad We Trust (via Entertainment Weekly), Gad explains how a key Olaf scene from Frozen II had to be rewritten. According to the actor, Frozen II's original Olaf death scene was "brutal," and Gad himself even struggled to get through it in the recording booth. After a test screening, Gad asked director Jennifer Lee how she thought it went, and she...

Frozen 2 could have ended up a childhood trauma scar for a generation of kids on the level of Bambi's mom if some key details had stayed in the picture. According to Olaf actor, Josh Gad, his character's death scene in the original script was so brutal, it left kids in the test screenings "fully traumatized." Which is...not exactly what Disney was looking for in the follow-up to the juggernaut first film.
According to Entertainment Weekly, however, that's what they nearly got. In his newly released memoir, In Gad We Trust, the actor explains that in the "truly stunning," "first version [of the death], Olaf himself was scared and confused by what was happening." Their "commitment to the brutality of Olaf's naïveté about all things," he explained, "made our intended audience scared for Olaf, rather than emotional."
Imagine coming in to film Frozen 2 and your first day at work is recording this death scene?...

From the messianic Neo to the nefarious Agent Smith, the Wachowskis created some of the most iconic characters ever to grace the silver screen for The Matrix franchise. The Matrix has become a staple of science fiction; terms like “The One” and “red pill” have entered the pop culture lexicon. It’s both a thought-provoking meditation on human existence and artificial intelligence, and a poignant religious allegory about a “chosen one” figure with impostor syndrome. As with any classic movie, part of what makes The Matrix so timeless is that its characters are so compelling and three-dimensional.
Not every character in The Matrix franchise is well-written and well-developed. Characters like the Keymaker and the Trainman exist purely to facilitate the plot. The Architect speaks exclusively in nonsensical hypotheticals and sounds like he carries around a thesaurus. But most of the characters in this ensemble are fascinating figures played by great actors,...

Indian marriages go beyond individual assertions of love to include the jostling familial structures of acceptance and refusal. Then there’s the pervasive influence of Bollywood. Bollywood and Indian culture are so enmeshed the two invariably cast themselves against identity and what celebration of oneself may resemble. The yarn of resistance to private desire gets scrambled furthermore once queerness enters the fold. Roshan Sethi’s new film, “A Nice Indian Boy,” unravels this twine, weaving between the modest and spectacular.

Netflix’s Mindhunter had all the ingredients for success. A gripping story about the real-life FBI agents who studied serial killers? Check. A talented cast, led by Jonathan Groff and Anna Torv? Check.
And a dark, fierce aura that keeps viewers’ hearts in their throats? Absolutely check. Yet, despite all the hype and praise, Netflix decided to cancel the show after just two seasons.
Jonathan Groff in Mindhunter (Credits: Netflix)
If you’re like us, you probably wasted hours binge-watching the FBI squad untangle the sick minds of history’s most heinous murderers. It was unlike anything we’d seen before—a slow-burn psychological drama that kept getting better with each episode.
So, why did Netflix pull the plug so soon? After all, Mindhunter wasn’t just a fan favorite—it was also lauded. So, what happened? Let’s dive in and see what really went down with Mindhunter‘s untimely cancellation.

While promoting the IMAX restoration and 30th anniversary of his seminal hit film, Se7en, director David Fincher shares his thoughts on whether his popular Netflix shows will receive a physical release or not.
Fincher spoke with Collider as Se7en returns to theaters and IMAX close to 30 years later and ahead of a 4K Uhd release on January 7, 2025. The film was Fincher's second, following the hotly-debated Alien 3 (1992), which saw the controversial death of Ellen Ripley at the end of the film. Morgan Freeman and Brad Pitt (in a breakout role) star as Detectives Somerset and Mills, respectively, as they investigate John Doe (Kevin Spacey), who is committing murders and heinous acts tied to the seven deadly sins.
Despite the dark script by Andrew Kevin Walker (The Killer) and cinematography by Darius Khondji, Se7en was a commercial hit when it debuted on September 22, 1995. It eventually made $100 million upon its initial release,...

Few shows have captivated audiences and critics quite like Netflix's Mindhunter. Created by Joe Penhall and executive-produced by acclaimed director David Fincher and actress Charlize Theron, the series premiered in 2017 to widespread acclaim. Inspired by the true-crime book Mindhunter: Inside the FBI's Elite Serial Crime Unit by John E. Douglas and Mark Olshaker, the show follows two FBI agents and a psychologist as they pioneer criminal profiling techniques in the late 1970s. Starring Jonathan Groff, Holt McCallany and Anna Torv, Mindhunter became a cultural phenomenon, praised for its chilling atmosphere, sharp writing and incredible performances. However, despite its critical success and loyal fan base, Netflix put the series on indefinite hold after its second season in 2019. Now, fans are left wondering whether this haunting masterpiece will ever see a proper conclusion.
The cancelation of Mindhunter came as a shock to viewers, especially given its strong reception and growing fan following.

Netflix has long been known as one of the top streaming services dedicated to giving true-crime fans the content they thirst for. While documentaries and docuseries are the platform’s bread and butter when it comes to the genre, it broke the mold for how these stories can be told with its two-season-running drama, Mindhunter. Starring Jonathan Groff and Holt McCallany, the Joe Penhall-created production was based on John E. Douglas and Mark Olshaker’s 1995 book of the same name and pulled back the curtain on how the serial-killer-hunting squad of the FBI was founded. Over two seasons, audiences rode along with Groff’s Holden Ford and McCallany’s Bill Tench as they got up close and personal with some of the most prolific serial killers in the history of the United States. Invincible could have a very long future on Prime Video. Fans are gearing up for the show's third season, which releases on the streamer in February 2025. But, according to the show's creator, Robert Kirkman, we're not even halfway through the overall series. Invincible is based on Kirkman's comic book series of the same name, which follows Mark Grayson, the son of a human, Debbie Grayson, and a Viltrumite (a knockoff Kryptonian) Omni-Man. When Mark develops his own powers, he becomes the superhero "Invincible," but being a hero isn't as simple as it seems when his own father is Earth's greatest threat.
Speaking to Collider, Kirkman addressed how long he envisions Invincible running for. Invincible is one of the best superhero shows around, and fans will be delighted to learn the series has a long shelf-life, at least, according to Kirkman and showrunner Simon Racciopa. "The way Simon and I have mapped out,...

Kieran Turner, a documentary filmmaker best known for producing and directing 2012’s Jobriath A.D., has died after a battle with cancer. He was 56.
Turner died Dec. 23 in West Hollywood.
Throughout his career, Turner put a spotlight on gay artists who passed before their time. In Jobriath, he focused on the pioneering ‘70s glam-rock musician and first openly gay rock star, who died in 1983 at age 36 of AIDS complications. The film is said to have helped renew interest in Jobriath and inspire the re-release of his catalog. Jobriath A.D. also amassed accolades at festivals including the Dublin Gay & Lesbian Film Festival, Out on Film, the Seattle Queer Film Festival and the Florida Film Festival.
Through his shingle, Eight Track Tape Productions, Turner worked in both film and TV. He created, wrote, produced and directed the online television series Wallflowers, which ran for two seasons on the Broadway-based network Stage...

Let’s face it. Theatre has been the most successful place for stories about popular musicians. Alicia Keys’ “Hell’s Kitchen” is selling big on Broadway, as is “Mj.” “A Beautiful Noise,” about Neil Diamond ‘s professional and personal history, had a nice run there, and is touring the country after its run in Los Angeles. We’ve had “Tina,” “Jersey Boys,” The Temptations’ “Ain’t Too Proud,” Carole King’s “Beautiful” and others. A new musical is being tested now about Frank Sinatra. But the most exciting news arrives this spring, when recent Tony winner Jonathan Groff portrays Bobby Darin.
But movies about musical stars? A mixed bag. (including Kevin Spacey in a bad one about Bobby Darin) Documentaries have been the safest form to chronicle the life of famous musicians: Ones about David Crosby, Joan Baez, Springsteen, and Linda Ronstadt. And, of course, “Woodstock” and Martin Scorsese’s “Last Waltz.
