A Nice Indian Boy has released its first trailer that stars Karan Soni and Jonathan Groff ahead of its theatrical release next month.

Director Roshan Sethi’s romantic-comedy feature hits theaters April 4 from Blue Harbor Entertainment. Hailing from Levantine Films and Wayfarer Studios, the movie also stars Sunita Mani, Zarna Garg, Harish Patel, Peter S. Kim and Sas Goldberg.

A Nice Indian Boy centers on Naveen (Soni), an introverted doctor grappling with introducing his artist boyfriend, Jay (Groff), to his traditional Indian parents amid the possibility of planning a big wedding.

“My parents are super liberal,” Soni says in the trailer. “Just don’t bring up drinking or sex — and no displays of physical affection.”

Now you know, when Richard Linklater’s “Merrily We Roll Along” film adaptation premieres in about 15 years, it will star Broadway actress Hannah Cruz.

The “Suffs” star has joined the project as Gussie opposite Paul Mescal, Beanie Feldstein, Mallory Bechtel and Ben Platt, TheWrap has learned. Filming will take place over the next two decades, similar to the director’s process for his Oscar-winning movie, “Boyhood.”

Producers include Blumhouse Productions’ Jason Blum, Ginger Sledge, Jonathan Marc Sherman, Mike Blizzard and Linklater. Some filming had already taken place as of late 2024, years after Blumhouse first acquired the rights in 2019.

The movie is an adaptation of Stephen Sondheim and George Furth’s 1981 musical of the same name. The 2023 Broadway revival notably starred Jonathan Groff, Lindsay Mendez and Daniel Radcliffe.

Cruz was most recently seen in the Tony-winning “Suffs” and is currently attached to the “Big Fish” industry reading led by Patrick Wilson.

Exclusive: Hannah Cruz (The Time Traveler’s Wife) has closed a deal to join Merrily We Roll Along, Richard Linklater’s adaptation of the 1981 musical from Stephen Sondheim and George Furth.

A Clarence Derwent Award-winning veteran of the theater world, Cruz is set to play Gussie, the wife of Paul Mescal’s Franklin Shepard, who after establishing himself as a talented composer of Broadway musicals, abandons his friends and songwriting career to become a producer of Hollywood movies. The story takes place over 20 years, and Linklater will shoot the film over the same time span, taking a page from his playbook on the Oscar-nominated Boyhood, which was shot over 12 years.

As previously announced, Ben Platt, Beanie Feldstein and Mallory Bechtel will also star. Producers of the feature are Ginger Sledge, Jason Blum for Blumhouse Productions, Jonathan Marc Sherman, Linklater and Mike Blizzard.

Exclusive: Ken Burns’ latest American history series is headed for the London TV Screenings.

PBS Distribution has taken global distribution rights and is bringing The American Revolution to the event, which is held in the UK capital at the end of the month.

Veteran filmmaker Burns directed and produced the epic factual series about the formation of the U.S. along with Sarah Botstein and David Schmidt and written by long-term collaborator Geoffrey C. Ward (The Vietnam War).

Show is billed as “an expansive look at the virtues and contradictions of the war and the birth of the United States of America,” following “dozens of figures from a wide variety of backgrounds,” including rank-and-file Continental soldiers and American militiamen, Patriot political and military leaders, British Army officers, American Loyalists, Native soldiers and civilians, enslaved and free African Americans, German soldiers in the British service, French and Spanish allies, and civilians living in North America.

The third season of Invincible premieres in just a couple weeks! Prime Video has thus far done a fantastic job adapting Robert Kirkman's vibrant superhero comic for the small screen. Part of that success can be chocked up to the incredible voice cast. Oscar nominee Steven Yuen plays Mark Grayson, aka Invincible, a teenager who's starting out into the exciting, violent world of superheroism. His father Omni-Man, the breakout character of the show, is played by gravel-voiced icon J. K. Simmons, and his mother Debbie by Emmy winner Sandra Oh. Invincible has added numerous voice actors for its upcoming third season, with Prime Video revealing a stacked cast of well-known talent in both animation and live-action projects. Per a new report from Deadline, Aaron Paul, Simu Liu, Jonathan Banks, Kate Mara, Xolo Maridueña, John Dimaggio, Tzi Ma, Doug Bradley, and Christian Convery are all going to be a part of the cast for the new season, adding to the already prominent cast of Steven Yeun, Sandra Oh, J.K. Simmons, Gillian Jacobs, and Jason Mantzoukas.

The third season of Invincible is set to premiere with three episodes on Feb. 6, 2025, and will follow a weekly release every Thursday through Mar. 13. As for who the new cast members will be playing, there are plenty of exciting character descriptions. Breaking Bad star Aaron Paul will be voicing Powerplex, a villain described as having "an emotional past" and has powers that let him absorb his enemy's strength.

Update: Broadway’s Mean Girls star Erika Henningsen will play singer Sandra Dee in the upcoming Just In Time musical about Bobby Darin starring Jonathan Groff.

Kieran Turner, a documentary filmmaker best known for producing and directing 2012’s Jobriath A.D., has died after a battle with cancer. He was 56.

Turner died Dec. 23 in West Hollywood.

Throughout his career, Turner put a spotlight on gay artists who passed before their time. In Jobriath, he focused on the pioneering ‘70s glam-rock musician and first openly gay rock star, who died in 1983 at age 36 of AIDS complications. The film is said to have helped renew interest in Jobriath and inspire the re-release of his catalog. Jobriath A.D. also amassed accolades at festivals including the Dublin Gay & Lesbian Film Festival, Out on Film, the Seattle Queer Film Festival and the Florida Film Festival.

The Broadway revival of Gypsy, starring legendary performer Audra McDonald, is officially open!

Broadway besties Lea Michele and Jonathan Groff were among the celebs who led the star-studded red carpet at opening night on Thursday (December 19) at the Majestic Theatre in New York City.

Lea and Jonathan met while working together on the 2006 Broadway show Spring Awakening and have been best friends ever since. For those who don’t know, Lea worked with Audra when she was a child, playing the little girl in the original production of Ragtime back in 1998.

Audra is currently starring alongside Danny Burstein and Joy Woods in the new production of Gypsy, which is playing at the newly reopened Majestic Theatre. The theatre has been dark since The Phantom of the Opera closed back in April 2023.

Gypsy is getting rave reviews and tickets are on sale now.
