An underrated crime thriller starring Emmy-winning actor Jeremy Allen White is now available to stream for free. The actor has enjoyed an already impressive career since breaking onto the scene in 2011 as Lip Gallagher in Shameless. In addition to numerous indie films like The Rental and Fingernails, White played Kerry Von Erich in A24's The Iron Claw and, of course, Carmen "Carmy" Berzatto in FX and Hulu's The Bear. He is also currently filming Deliver Me from Nowhere, a Bruce Springsteen biopic in which White plays the Boss himself.

A throwback to another era of filmmaking, Black Site (not to be confused with the 2018 Tom Paton film of the same name) follows a group of officers based in a labyrinthine top-secret location called the Citadel, who must fight for their lives against Hatchet, a brilliant and infamous high-value detainee. When he escapes, his mysterious and deadly agenda has far-reaching and dire consequences…
There’s a reason I said this film was a throwback at the start of this review, you see Black Site feels very much like a product of a different time, well at least the script does. There are quips thrown into people’s dialogue that hark back to the...

"My entire life people tried to rattle my cage, to force me to explode from the inside out." Gravitas Ventures has unveiled an official trailer for an indie drama titled Bomb City, based on a true story of a punk rock hate crime in Amarillo, Texas in 1997. Dave Davis stars as Brian, and the cast includes Glenn Morshower, Logan Huffman, Lorelei Linklater, Eddie Hassell, Henry Knotts, Maemae Renfrow, Dominic Ryan Gabriel, Luke Shelton, Cody Cates, with Marilyn Manson. This looks like a damn good film, with what seems to be a stellar performance from Dave Davis. Worth a watch. Here's the official trailer (+ poster) for Jameson (Jamie) Brooks' Bomb City,...

On paper, Michael Barrett’s Temple sounds promising enough. The film takes three tourists deep into the forests in Japan in search of a mysterious temple, and as expected, the proverbial poop hits the fan. But as far as execution goes, Temple falls apart repeatedly throughout its 78-minute running time, with a story that feels truncated, characters that never really make any sort of impact, and a few “twists” that really aren’t twists at all.
In Temple, we’re introduced to Kate (Natalia Warner), a religious studies student who wants to head out to Japan to take in some Buddhist temples to help prepare for her major. For the trip, she brings along guy friend Chris (Logan Huffman) and boyfriend James (Brandon Tyler Sklenar), and as you can imagine, that causes some friction between the trio during their travels. Well, well, it looks likes America is trying to take on J-Horror once again! The first time we got films like the remakes of The Ring and The Grudge; the last time we got The Forest – where we stand with Temple, a new horror movie from the writer of You’re Next, The Guest, and Blair Witch and from the executive producer of The Ring trilogy, is anyone’s guess.
Yes, Temple has a decent pedigree but, and this is a huge but (and I cannot lie), whether Simon Barrett’s script can live up to the standards horror fans expect from these types of genre films remains to be seen. I’ll give it the benefit of the doubt – for now – based on this trailer…

"This temple... it will make you sick."
When you take a trip to Japan and someone tells you not to go somewhere because it's dangerous and evil, it's probably in your best interest to listen. They're just trying... to keep you alive!
I've got a trailer for a new horror film coming out called Temple, which comes from writer Simon Barrett (You're Next, The Guest, Blair Witch). The story centers on three American tourists, who "follow a mysterious map deep into the jungles of Japan searching for an ancient temple. It doesn't look like the best horror movie, but it looks like it might have some fun elements that horror enthusiasts might enjoy.

"This temple, it will make you sick." Screen Media Films has debuted the official trailer for the horror film titled Temple, directed by Michael Barrett, from a screenplay originally written by Simon Barrett (of You're Next, The Guest, Blair Witch) along with fellow horror filmmaker Jt Petty. The film is supposedly an homage to Japanese horror as it follows a group of Americans visiting Japan who decide to stay overnight at a haunted temple. Of course, they end up discovering this was a bad idea despite warnings from locals. The film stars Logan Huffman, Brandon Tyler Sklenar, and Natalia Warner. Oddly, screenwriter Simon Barrett has kind of disowned the film, explaining in an article on Medium, "I don’t know what that project is any more than you do." Now that we have some footage does it look any good? Not really. Take a look below. Here's the official trailer...

Looking for trouble? Abigail Breslin and Logan Huffman in Final Girl.
If you go down to the woods tonight and you see a group of smartly attired young men sitting around on leather couches laughing, you might want to get out of there. These men have a hobby: they get their kicks from hunting young women through the trees. But one day they mess with the wrong girl.
That’s the premise of Final Girl, part of this year’s Frightfest selection. We asked him how it came about and he told us that being a filmmaker is what he’s really wanted ever since he was a child. “Photography kind of just happened. Making movies was always my dream.”

Final Girl – not to be confused with Todd Strauss-Schulson’s Hilarious The Final Girls) – is a “cool” movie. Like, swanky-murderers-who-act-like-psychotic-Rat-Pack-members “cool.” But it’s not very sensible, nor does it care about being a nonsensical horror-stereotype-busting acid trip. Tyler Shields is a devilishly creative filmmaker, and there’s a certain amount of respect earned through this wicked battle of the sexes, but as a storyteller, Shields is more erratic than a scat rapper. With that said, the question morphs from “Is Final Girl an enjoyable movie?” into “Do you value aesthetics over substance?” Narration versus cinematic anarchy – take your pick!

Bad Turn Worse is the new emotional crime thriller and the stunning directorial debut of Simon and Zeke Hawkins.
The film is currently available in select theaters nationwide and VOD platforms including iTunes.
After a weekend of partying with stolen money, three Texas teens (Jeremy Allen White, Logan Huffman, and Mackenzie Davis) find themselves indebted to a sociopathic criminal named Giff (Mark Pellegrino in a breakout performance).
To pay their debt, Giff forces the teens to steal from his boss, a money-laundering gangster named Big Red (William Devane). Things go from bad to worse when betrayal, distrust, and corruption complicate an already dangerous plan.
Wamg has got an exclusive clip featuring a commentary from Zeke and Simon Hawkins. The two discuss the opening scene in the film starring Mackenzie Davis and Jeremy Allen White. The clip will be featured in ‘iTunes Extras” starting December 5th, but you can see it here first!

Whether you are a filmmaker, or one of the Sundance programmers whose task it is to identify the films that make up a line-up, it is indeed the most wonderful, panic-filled and nerve racking time of the year. The 31st edition of the Sundance Film Festival kicks off on January 22nd with Park City and Salt Lake City playing host to some of the more innovative, thought-provoking narrative and non-fiction films of 2015. Last year, a Jenga tall order of 4,057 features and 8,161 shorts were submitted. Now let’s think about those numbers for a second.
Twenty years ago, Terry Zwigoff’s Crumb claimed the Grand Jury Prize Documentary award, Living in Oblivion‘s Tom Dicillo was honored with the Waldo Salt Screenwriting Award, and Edward Burns’ micro-budgeted The Brothers McMullen (there is a read-worthy, lively, eleventh hour account on how it was submitted to the fest in Ted Hope’s “Hope...

B.J. knows full well that once his two only friends leave, he will soon be stranded alone in this podunk cotton town with one career option: cotton. When the three friends return home from their weekend excursion, Giff (Mark Pellegrino) is in the midst of a violent rampage, attempting to track down the stolen money. After another fateful decision is made, B.J., Sue and Bobby find themselves dangerously indebted to Giff. They are left with only one foreseeable option, to steal from Giff's money-laundering boss, Big Red (William Devane). As you can probably guess, that option does not work out very well for them. Drenched in pulpy undercurrents, Bad Turn Worse is a gritty neo-noir that is propelled by the life-altering decisions made by the three young protagonists. While subtly touching upon economic and intellectual disparity, the Hawkins brothers -- following the lead of screenwriter Dutch Southern --...

At a loss for what to watch this week? From new DVDs and Blu-rays, to what's streaming on Netflix, we've got you covered.
New on DVD and Blu-ray
"22 Jump Street"
Can Chris Miller and Phil Lord make anything entertaining? When "21 Jump Street" the movie was announced, it seemed utterly ludicrous, if not downright insulting. Yet here we are enjoying the sequel, digging on the continued doofy adventures of Schmidt (Jonah Hill) and Jenko (Channing Tatum). What's next, a dazzling movie about Legos?!
"20,000 Days on Earth"
This documentary about writer and musician Nick Cave is just as weird and wonderful as its subject. It's a must-see for fans of Cave's oeuvre, but even if you don't know a Boy Next Door from a Bad Seed, you'll get a kick out of this strange film. Featuring appearances by Kylie Minogue, Ray Winstone, Warren Ellis, and Blixa Bargeld.

I've heard nothing but fantastic things about the new film Bad Turn Worse and this clip "Money" certainly backs up a lot of them. As a native Texan its refreshing to see a film that, by all appearances so far at least, plays with an ever so slightly heightened version of the state's flavor without making it a pandering caricature. The film was written by Dutch Southern (let's stop for a moment and tip our hat to that name) and was directed by Simon Hawkins and Zeke Hawkins. It stars Mackenzie Davis (AMC's "Halt and Catch Fire," What If), Jeremy Allen White (Showtime’s “Shameless"), Mark Pellegrino (The Big Lebowski, CW’s “Supernatural"), and veteran William Devane (The Dark Knight Rises, Fox’s “24” Series). The film opens in select theaters Nationwide and VOD platforms Friday, November 14th from Starz Digital. Hit the jump for our Bad Turn Worse clip. Here's...

In movies, small towns are too often populated with inbred, murderous hillbillies, but there’s nevertheless a wealth of interesting, seldom-explored and considerably more believable stories to tell about them. “Bad Turn Worse” offers audiences little that they haven’t seen in one form or another — small-town kids, dreams of escape and the interference of local criminals — but in the hands of screenwriter Dutch Southern and directors Simon and Zeke Hawkins, its familiar components come together in a unique way. A crime thriller rich with emotional resonance, “Bad Turn Worse” offers the kind of clean, elegant storytelling whose emotional impact eclipses the cosmetic horrors of its counterparts while announcing the arrival of considerable new filmmaking talents. Jeremy Allen White (“Afterschool”) plays Bobby, a recent high school graduate who is set to head off to the same college as his best friend B.J.’s (Logan Huffman) girlfriend Sue (Mackenzie Davis). B.

It was over a year ago when a movie called "We Gotta Get Out Of This Place" impressed us at Fantastic Fest, leading our critic Todd Gilchrist to declare in his review that it "offers the kind of clean, elegant storytelling whose emotional impact eclipses the cosmetic horrors of its counterparts while announcing the arrival of considerable new filmmaking talents." It's taken a little while, but the movie has now circled back onto our radar with a shorter, punchier title — "Bad Turn Worse" — and today we have an exclusive clip that we hope spurs you to check this one out. From directors Simon and Zeke Hawkins, and starring Jeremy Allen White, Mackenzie Davis, Logan Huffman, Mark Pellegrino and William Devane, the story follow three teens in debt to a local gangster. Looking to square the balance sheet, the teens agree to rip off the gangster's boss, and as you might surmise from the title,...

Whenever anyone mentions Bad Turn Worse in the future, I’ll fondly think back on one of my new favorite heist explanation scenes, so cleverly orchestrated by brothers Simon and Zeke Hawkins. Blending the frantic nature of a first-person-shooter with cheeky criminal comedy, three juvenile robbers run though their illegal blueprints in real time, imagining exactly how the break-in should go down. While that might sound a bit oversimplified, the Hawkins brothers inject a little fun by having the two characters on camera react to any hiccups in the plan mid-scene, interrupting a hold-up with hypothetical questions only to direct their attention back towards elderly hostages after bickering about small details. The sequence is flashy, exciting, clever and memorable, striking a unique high note – a note that’s sorely missed throughout the film’s more generic existence.

Lost co-star Mark Pellegrino stars in this very dark looking thriller called Bad Turn Worse, in which he plays a very bad dude. We have the first trailer for the movie to share with you, and it seems like one of those crazy off-beat films that I would enjoy watching. Here's the synopsis:

We’ve got the new trailer for Texas-based neo-noir flick Bad Turn Worse (formerly known as We Gotta Get Out of This Place), and if you like your crime tales baked to perfection in the Lone Star state’s blistering heat, we think you’re gonna like this new clip. The Texas-set neo-noir formerly known as We Gotta Get Out Of This Place has ponied up its first trailer as Starz Digital ramps up for a November 14 release. Jeremy Allen White (Shameless), Mackenzie Davis (Halt And Catch Fire) and Logan Huffman (V) star in Bad Turn Worse as small-town youngsters who blow stolen cash on a weekend of partying. Unfortunately, the sociopath they stole from (Lost‘s Mark Pellegrino) answers to an even scarier boss (William Devane), whose riches the kids are forced to heist in order to repay their debt.
Zeke and Simon Hawkins directed from a script by Dutch Southern and shot the pic on location in Texas cotton country. After it debuted at Tiff 2013, Starz acquired U.S. and Canada rights and set a limited theatrical/digital release plan. "Sounds like game time to me." Just last week, we exclusively debuted the teaser poster for the Texas crime thriller Bad Turn Worse, the film formerly known as We Gotta Get Out of This Place, which debuted at the Toronto International Film Festival last year. Now the film is finally getting released next month in limited theaters and on VOD, and the first trailer has arrived. This looks really cool, like a contemporary western, and the praise for a villainous turn from Mark Pellegrino sounds like that alone will make the film worth seeing. Mackenzie Davis and Jeremy Allen White also star in the film. Watch the trailer! Today we get to exclusively debut the official release poster for Bad Turn Worse, formerly known as We Gotta Get Out of This Place, a gritty Texas crime thriller that marks the debut of brothers Zeke & Simon Hawkins. The film premiered at Tiff 2013 and picked up the Audience Award at AFI, hitting theaters this fall. Compared to this year's acclaimed thriller Cold in July, the plot follows three Texas teens (played by Jeremy Allen White, Logan Huffman and Mackenzie Davis) who get caught up in organized crime trying to escape their dead-end existence in a cotton-mill. The film, produced by Brian Udovich and Justin Duprie of Rough & Tumble Films, also had a gorgeous hand-drawn poster for its festival run last year. New art below. A new trailer for Tyler Shields' upcoming thriller 'Final Girl' has been unleashed onto the general public. Hannibal Classics have unveiled the trailer which most certainly gives us a good insight into the original style that celeb photographer Shields has plumped for. By no means a stranger to controversy director Shields will no doubt be bringing his violent and bloody on-camera style to the proceedings. Abigail Breslin -below ('Zombieland', 'The Call') stars as Veronica who must beat a group of teenage boys at their own game in a deadly hunt for her life. Wes Bentley ('The Hunger Games'), Alexander Ludwig, Logan Huffman, Michael Trevino, Connor Paolo, and Francesca Eastwood also star. Head below for the new 2-minute trailer....

If you were to check Abigail Breslin’s IMDb page, you would see that the young actress has spent a good bit of time in genre films. She has Zombieland, The Call, Haunter, and the upcoming Maggie all on her resume. You will also find a movie named Final Girl which filmed in 2012 and has been in post-production since March of 2013. It actually received an odd trailer that month, where director Tyler Shields showed the entire film in 1 minute. That was the last we had seen of it.
That was until today. We now have a new, more traditional, trailer for this long gestating project and I have to say it has piqued my interest quite a bit.
Synopsis:
A psychological thriller about a beautiful teen girl new to town who is lured out to the woods by a group of senior boys to be the victim in their final initiation.
