Exclusive: The Toronto-based company has picked up Us distribution and world sales rights to the second film in Bgoi Film’s ‘On Ice’ slasher series.
Geoff Klein and Melissa Mira of Montreal-based Bgoi co-directed and co-produced Pinup Dolls On Ice, which they describe as “an unapologetic love letter to all the old-school slasher films from the 80’s. A very well written love letter…”
The story centres on a group of retro strippers who encounter a homicidal maniac obsessed with ice when they are hired to put on a show at a secluded camp ground. 108 Media plans to release in the Us later this year.
“Pinup Dolls On Ice embodies everything that 108 Media has been looking for,” said Nick Burton, who alongside Jordan Nutson brokered the deal for 108 Media with the filmmakers.
“This combination of scary and sexy is something audiences definitely haven’t seen yet. We’re very proud to be releasing the film in North America...

We are always in a position of being forward and looking back. I’m at least 12 films into Fantasia at this point and having to document my musings about past experiences is starting to make me dizzy. Fanciful eye gouging is not for the weak of heart, but I soldier on. Week 1 brought a great list of premieres to Montreal, of which most would agree the following two films are not a part of. For the sake of argument however, I will differ (or defer? Frankly, they both work). Not to worry though, I will serve you more choice cuts down the road; but for now, here are the nasty bits:
Thanatomorphose (Canada, 2012)
Éric Falardeau’s microbudget head scratcher is not for the impatient, nor the faint of heart. After the Canadian premiere, I’ve heard critics complain that this film should have been a short instead of a feature,...

Geoff Klein’s “Pinup Dolls on Ice”, his follow-up to “Bikini Girls on Ice” (I’m sensing a pattern here), should be headed your way soon, with production on the film already wrapped last month. In celebration of that, the director has sent over some images and a poster for the hot girl splatterific flick. Take a gander at the poster to your left and check out the images below. The sick and twisted minds behind the Melbourne Underground Film Festival have launched a brand new horror and sci-fi themed fest: Bloodfest Fantastique! Australia gets a lot more blood-soaked on June 10-18, nine nights of some of the most gruesome, terrifying and far-out films, past and present, from around the world.
While Muff has never been shy about screening genre films, Richard Wolstencroft — founder and director of both fests — is planning for his newest endeavor to simply be a celebration of his two favorite genres of filmmaking, without all the politicking hooha-ery that surrounds Muff.
So, there’s still a very underground-esque flavor to Bloodfest. The newer flicks in the festival have a scrappy, inventive, degenerate quality, from slice and dice em’s like Chris Sun’s Come and Get Me, Chad Ferrin’s Someone’s Knocking at the Door and Geoff Klein Bikini Girls on Ice; to monster flicks...

But hopefully “pin-ups” will still mean girls in bikinis, cause, let’s face it, you don’t ruin a good premise like very attractive lasses in bikinis running away from a killer with a big knife. Am I right, boys? Anyways, Geoff Klein is set to shoot “Pinup Dolls on Ice”, the sequel to his successful cult hit “Bikini Girls on Ice” sometime this September, and director Klein promises “more gore, more T&A and more Moe backstory!” (Cause, you know, the killer is named Moe. See what he did there?) Some girls are better served cold! The Pinup Dolls are a hot retro act who put the tease back in striptease. It’s debatable whether or not a film with the title “Bikini Girls on Ice” or a grammatically awkward tagline that runs ‘These girls are so hot, a maniac must put them on ice!’ actually needs a review, as its virtues should be pretty obvious. For those still reading, the film marks the debut of writer director Geoff Klein, and is an old school slasher opus that harks back to the simpler days of the genre, when killers were crazy and girls didn’t bother with clothes. It arrives now on region 2 DVD via Kaleidoscope Home Entertainment, and comes with a decent collection of extras including deleted scenes, making of footage, a blooper reel and audio commentary. It would probably be more accurate to describe the film as having a setup rather than an actual plot. A group of college girls, plus the obligatory couple of horny guys, get stranded...

The other night I finally got an opportunity to see Let The Right One In and it lived up to the hype. Now, while an artfully-crafted piece of sublime horror filmmaking is great and all, there's also something to be said for the horror films with no pretension, no subtlety, and no grace whatsoever when it comes to what they're selling. I'm talking about the films that are all about two things: blood and boobs, not necessarily in that order. I'm talking about movies like Bikini Girls on Ice.
Don't let the title fool you into thinking this is a movie about bikini-clad skaters putting on an ice capade. Bikini Girls on Ice follows the very simple formula of getting some attractive women in as little clothing as possible and then killing them. It is a time-honored tradition, no?
