Mowry is set to executive produce and star in A Very Merry Beauty Salon, which will premiere on the channel later this year. There are some big differences about her life and Sam's, though - Bailey is already a massive star, and also, "Praise This" follows Sam's journey into the world of competitive gospel youth choirs.

The trailer, released on March 6, finds Sam unhappily stuck in Atlanta after being sent away from Los Angeles for the summer by her concerned father to live with her upbeat cousin Jess (Anjelika Washington). Things start to take off when Jess persuades Sam to join her faltering praise team, and Sam eventually dives in, determined to help the group win a national championship competition while launching her music career.

Cocoa Brown, Chrystale Wilson and Clifton Powell have joined the film, which Christina Cooper is directing.

They join leads Leslie Black and Norman Towns and an ensemble cast also including Nzinga Imani (Tyler Perry’s Zatima), director Cooper (South Central Love) Orvalle Williams (Law & Order: Organized Crime), Zachariah Rogers (P-Valley), and Nicole Crump (Rap Sh!t).

Adapted from the bestselling novel of the same name by Anna Black, the romantic drama follows a playboy bachelor (Towns) who helps a grieving full-figured widow (Black) to learn to love again, but her heart is broken once more after his true intentions are exposed. Towns and Black are also co-executive producers. Christopher and Margo Speight of Camie Entertainment are EPs alongside Shawanda ‘N’Tyse’ Williams of Black Odyssey & Boss Magnet Media.

Tonight’s episode of “9-1-1” is all about Eddie Diaz’s (Ryan Guzman) backstory and in TheWrap’s exclusive clip from the hour, titled “Eddie Begins,” we see how that past might begin to unfold for the first time, as Eddie’s son Christopher (Gavin McHugh) asks him to come tell his class about how he got his Silver Star.

In the video, which you can view above, young Christopher is brought to Station 118 by Carla (Cocoa Brown) on his way to school so that he can ask his dad to be his “show and tell” on Friday.

“Ok, show and tell. I thought you were bringing in your new hamster?”

Jamie Foxx, Tiffany Haddish, Jessica Kirson, Ricky Gervais and others appear in the trailer for This Is Stand-Up, a new documentary premiering April 12th on Comedy Central.

Directed and produced by Paul Toogood, the film will examine the life and art of stand-up comedy. “I was funny right out the womb,” Foxx says at the beginning of the clip. “The doctor goes, ‘Oh, this motherfucker’s funny!'”

On Monday’s “9-1-1,” Eddie (Ryan Guzman) is going to have to face a hard truth when his son Christopher (Gavin McHugh), who has cerebral palsy, gets hurt while skateboarding. And he’s also going to have to figure out how to explain that hard truth to Christopher, too.

In TheWrap’s exclusive clip from tonight’s episode, which you can view above, Eddie gets a call from Christopher’s principal, filling him on the details of Christopher being injured while trying out another kid’s skateboard. At first, Eddie blames the other kid for the situation and doesn’t want to listen to Carla (Cocoa Brown), who tells him he’s going to need to talk to Christopher about his limitations.

But then Eddie sits down with Christopher and learns that no one pressured his son into getting on the skateboard, that Christopher decided to do it on his own because “it was fun.

This year’s American Black Film Festival lineup is stacked with some of the top names in Hollywood as well as emerging voices including a screening of Reginald Hudlin’s The Black Godfather, a conversation with Spike Lee and his protege Stefon Bristol as well as the five finalists for HBO Short Film Competition, which is now in its 22nd year. The fest takes place June 12-16 in Miami.

The program will also include the previously announced opening night film Shaft. New Line Cinema’s reboot of the iconic character will screen at the fest ahead of its June 14 release. When someone mentions Tyler Perry, it’s only fair to think of him dressing up in old lady drag, bible thumping, and moralizing about how women shouldn’t open their legs for any good looking dude like they are a 24-hour Golden Corral. (Seriously, did you see Temptation: Confessions of a Marriage Counselor? Way to send a message to women that if they are not faithful, they’re going to get AIDS and everyone will hate them. Ugh!)
