Mako Mermaids is a spin-off of the popular TV series about mermaids, H2O: Just Add Water, and for years it has been unclear if season 5 of Mako Mermaids will ever see the light of day. The spin-off first premiered in Australia with the title Mako: Island of Secrets, and its most recent episode aired in 2016. Mako Mermaids follows the story of Zac (Chai Hansen), a teenager who becomes a merman after falling into magic water. While Zac learns how to adjust to being a merman, three mermaids named Lyla (Lucy Fry), Nixie (Ivy Latimer), and Sirena (Amy Ruffle) become curious about human life.
The Mako Mermaids cast also includes Isabel Durant as Ondina, Allie Bertram as Mimmi, Gemma Forsyth as Zac's girlfriend Evie, Linda Ngo as Weilan, and Alex Cubis as Eric. In the most recent season of Mako Mermaids, H2O: Just Add Water star Cariba Heine appears as Rikki.

James Lafferty and Stephen Colletti, former cast members of the popular TV series “One Tree Hill,” returned to the Monte-Carlo Television Festival this week to present the premiere of the second season of their independently produced comedy “Everyone Is Doing Great,” described by the duo as an “anti-Entourage.” According to Colletti, the show will have a third season, and will continue to operate independently for now.
They were accompanied at the festival by two of their co-stars, “The Royals” actor Alexandra Park (who is also Lafferty’s wife and served as an executive producer and writer on Season 2) and Cariba Heine.
Lafferty and Colletti held a masterclass during the festival’s Business Content section, sharing insights on how to navigate independent production in Hollywood, and the challenges facing independent television producers. Lafferty said: “I would say the biggest challenge is the overall uncertainty.”

A film centred around sharks attacking people in a flooded supermarket isn.t often compared to the work of Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright and actor Sam Shepard. But leave aside the unique challenges of shooting in water for nine weeks with actors (including children) standing on shelves, and a mix of animatronic and computer-generated sharks . all captured in 3D . and that.s exactly what you.re left with according to director Kimble Rendall.
.Once we were working with the actors it was a bit like doing a Sam Shepard play on the stage because it really was like a theatre. There were eight actors out on the set and they don.t really leave,. although he laughingly adds .some of them leave . not by choice..
It is still a shark movie after all.

Bait 3D joins a long list of killer shark movies. From Jaws (1975) to Deep Blue Sea (1999) and more recently to Open Water 2: Adrift (2006), there have been many reasons to be afraid of the water. With this latest Australian entry into the genre, fans of thrillers can relax because computer enhanced sharks and false looking tsunamis will create very little fear. Really, Bait simply flounders as the shallow characters and weak storyline massage you into apathy. Speaking of storylines, Bait focuses on the plot devices rather than the characters. There are rogue tidal waves, bank robberies, roaming sharks and the threat of electrocution. But, none of these elements create for an.

Low-budget horror feature film Lord of the Crows, written by Everett DeRoche (Razorback, Long Weekend), has secured Gibson Guitars Corp as a promotional partner.
Producer Toby Gibson of the film’s Midnight Snack Productions told Encore the agreement will see loan product and brand affiliation/cross promotion into the teaser with a ‘smashable’ Gibson guitar and amp.
Directed by Nick Kacevski (Dir: short film Dying Ice; VFX: Happy Feet 2 and Australia), and starring Cariba Heine (Bait) and Rob Flanagan (X Men Origins: Wolverine), the film is based on a young band’s escape to the country to record their debut album in one member’s father’s homestead. Gibson is raising the funds for the $24,000 teaser via crowd-funding site, Indiegogo.

The Bait Trailer and Bait Poster has premiered. Kimble Rendall‘s Bait (2011) movie trailer, poster stars Sharni Vinson, Julian McMahon, Alice Parkinson, Xavier Samuel, and Phoebe Tonkin. Bait (2011)’s plot synopsis: “In a sleepy beach community shoppers at an underground supermarket are terrorized by a crazed bandit when the unimaginable occurs: A monstrous freak tsunami swallows the town. Now trapped, with rushing water threatening to entomb them in a watery grave the survivors discover they are not alone. The tsunami has brought unwanted visitors from the depths. Not only must they overcome the threat of drowning and the predator within their midst, but a threat far more deadly and far more bloodthirsty – hungry great white sharks.”
This film looks so much better than Shark Night 3D in my opinion (notice that movie trailer has not been posted on this site) but there has not been a good shark film on screen since Jaws.

This adventure, which will be released in Australia around the same time Shark Night 3D is released in the states, revolves around a group of shoppers who are trapped in a flooded supermarket during a freak tsunami with a gang of robbers and a pack of hungry tiger sharks. Producer Toby Gibson has launched a crowd-funding campaign to raise money for a low-budget horror film written by Everett DeRoche (Razorback, Patrick, Razorback, Long Weekend), entitled Lord of the Crows.
Since the official launch on April 21, the project has raised almost 10 percent of its $24,000 goal.
“In the face of a tough economic climate and with the growing success of low-budget horror projects like Insidious and Paranormal Activity, we are seeing a rise in the number of independent filmmakers adopting new and creative online fund raising techniques to bring their low budget projects to the big screen,” said Gibson.
The purpose of the crowd-funding campaign is to raise funds for a live action short/trailer directed by Nick Kacevski and starring Cariba Heine and Rob Flanagan. The short will then be used by Midnight Snack Productions to attract potential partners.

The indie web series scene in Australia continues to grow with local comedy The Future Machine. This week the show launches the final episode of its 8-episode first season. It stars comedian Matt Okine, Cariba Heine (H20: Just Add Water) and Andy Ryan (Tomorrow When The War Began) as roommates who build a time machine in their kitchen to resolve an argument. David Barker, Tom Sheldrick and Matt Okine (director, writer and star respectively) co-created The Future Machine and cleverly designed a concept that's expansive in its scope (it's about time travel), yet limited to a single filming location - an apartment. While many web series have been filmed in filmmakers' apartments due to low budgets, this series pulls out all the stops in terms of delivering a robust and high quality level of production. Director of Photography Nino Tamburri chose to shoot the series on the Canon 5D...
