HBO is under fire by Ukraine’s foreign ministry for casting Serbian actor Miloš Biković. Biković is set to star in season three of the award-winning dark comedy-drama series.

Ukraine’s foreign ministry took to X to express their opinions on the matter, tagging the HBO account on the post.

Serbia has jumped to the defense of its countryman Milos Bikovic after Ukraine attacked HBO’s decision to cast the Russian sympathizer in The White Lotus.

Bikovic is set to play a wellness guru in Mike White’s hit series, sparking anger in Kyiv, where the Ukrainian government produced a social media video accusing him of supporting Vladimir Putin’s war.

Bikovic declined to condemn the Kremlin’s invasion of Ukraine in February 2022. In an Instagram post soon after the Russian assault, he said that he wished there were no wars.

“Each conflict has its own circumstances,” he wrote, per a translation of his Russian text. “And the worst part is that war and bloodshed on either side reminds us how far humanity is from world unity and love. God save the lives of all those who are now in danger.”

Ukraine is calling out HBO’s “The White Lotus” for casting Serbian actor Miloš Biković in Season 3, claiming that he is the “Kremlin’s foreign mouthpiece.”

Ukraine’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs took to X/Twitter, on Wednesday to express its disappointment over the casting.

“Miloš Biković, Serbian actor who has been supporting Russia since the start of the full-scale invasion, is now set to star in HBO’s ‘The White Lotus’ Season 3,” the post reads. “@HBO, is it all right for you to work with a person who supports genocide & violates international law?”

The post is accompanied by a video accusing Biković of supporting the Russian invasion of Ukraine in 2022. The clip shows the actor receiving a medal of honor from Russian President Vladimir Putin in 2018 for his contribution to Russian arts and culture. After Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, Biković apparently posted a poll on social media sharing that there was higher trust in Russia’s Vladimir Putin than Ukraine’s leader, Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

In 2018, he was given an award by Putin: the Pushkin medal, which is given out to people who help advance the culture of Russia.

Ukraine has slammed HBO, the makers of ‘The White Lotus’, for casting a pro-Putin actor Milos Bikovic, who was given a medal of honour by Putin for his services to the arts, and has consistently supported his invasive actions against Ukraine and Crimea.

Ukraine’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs boldly called HBO out for its decision to cast Serbian actor Milos Biković in the upcoming third season of its hit show, The White Lotus, asking the network: “Dear HBO, do you really support genocide?”

The ministry published a video showing Biković, 36, shaking Vladimir Putin’s hand at a ceremony where he was handed a top cultural prize, reports dailymail.co.uk.

He was handed the Pushkin medal in 2018, and was awarded Russian citizenship in 2021.

Biković said at the time: ‘It is a great honour to say today: Russia is my homeland.’

He added that he was “an active member of Russian society.

Ukraine has attacked HBO after The White Lotus cast Miloš Biković, a Serbian actor who has voiced his admiration for Russia and accepted a medal from Vladimir Putin.

Biković joined Season 3 of Mike White’s hit drama earlier this month, with production set to begin in Thailand next month on a story following a new group of guests at another White Lotus hotel.

Character details have not been confirmed, but Deadline understands that Biković is believed to be playing a Russian.

“The White Lotus” Season 3 has added three new actors to its cast.

Francesca Corney, Nicholas Duvernay and Arnas Fedaravičius have all been added to the highly-anticipated third season of the HBO series.

They join previously announced new cast members Leslie Bibb, Dom Hetrakul, Jason Isaacs, Michelle Monaghan, Parker Posey, and Tayme Thapthimthong as well as Miloš Biković, Christian Friedel, Morgana O’Reilly, Lek Patravadi, and Shalini Peiris. It was also announced that “The Gilded Age” star Carrie Coon is joining Season 3, while Natasha Rothwell will return to the show in a reprisal of her role from Season 1. Last week, it was reported that Walton Goggins, Patrick Schwarzenegger, Aimee Lou Wood, Sarah Catherine Hook, and Sam Nivola had joined the show as well.

As usual, no character details about the guests are shared but as Deadline reported in November, the multigenerational group includes a patriarch, a female corporate executive, an actress, a couple of mothers, including a country club wife, a misfit and a yogi.

We recently reported that HBO had announced the first cast members joining White Lotus for season three. These included Michelle Monaghan, Leslie Bibb, Jason Isaacs, Dom Hetrakul, Parker Posey and Tayme Thapthimthong.

We’re now happy to report that even more excellent actors have joined the cast. Variety reports that Walton Goggins, Sarah Catherine Hoo, Sam Nivola, Patrick Schwarzenegger, and Aimee Lou Wood will also be checking into the resort for season three.

Carrie Coon, Miloš Biković, Christian Friedel, Morgana O’Reilly, Lek Patravadi, and Shalini Peiris have also joined the cast. Natasha Rothwell will also be reprising her role as the resort manager.

White Lotus season three will be shooting in and around Koh Samui, Phuket, and Bangkok, Thailand in February, but there’s no news on a release date quite yet.
