Ryan M. Andrews
- Writer
- Director
- Producer
Like his films, Ryan M. Andrews has crept up on the film scene over the years, focusing on the art of horror by telling character driven stories of the macabre. Growing up on slashers, classic Vincent Price movies and David Lynch's art-house films, Ryan attended Niagara College for Radio, TV & Film and Trebas Institute in Toronto for film production. He graduated at the top of his class in 2000 and shot his first short film on 16mm.
Ryan shifted his focus more towards his writing, as he learned to hone his craft from various industry professionals. Then, while working as a writer-for-hire and ghost-writer for Producers in both Canada & the USA, he went to camera on his first feature film, which was selected by one of the biggest names in horror, Fangoria, to screen on Fangoria TV in the USA in 2007.
Over the past 15 years, Ryan also wrote and directed 4 more feature films that have collectively played dozens of festivals, picked up multiple awards, and have been distributed throughout North America and overseas. These films include "Save Yourself" which Rue Morgue calls "an eerie and elegiac ode to classic horror filmmaking" and "Art Of Obsession" which Horror Society says is "an astounding, stimulating and visually stunning piece of experimental art."
And as a writer, Ryan has written an impressive list of spec screenplays that he is currently pitching and developing. His original screenplay, "Through Kaleidoscope Glass" won the Grand Jury Prize at the 2021 Richmond International Film Festival and placed in the Top 10% of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences' 2020 Nicholls Fellowship out of more than 8,000 screenplays.
With his latest trilogy of short films (inspired by his avant-garde feature screenplay "Self-Inflicting Tortured Souls") playing festivals and winning awards, Ryan M. Andrews is always committed to working with like-minded artists to tell captivating and engaging stories in all genres, whether it is as a director, writer, producer, or any variation of all three.
