However, between making your way through episodes of "Ted Lasso" or "Shrinking," you may have overlooked the streamer's period drama "Pachinko." The Apple TV+ series, Monarch: Legacy of Monsters, helped expand the MonsterVerse, and emerged as a spectacular hit with audiences and critics in its first season. Fresh off an award-laden year, series star Anna Sawai, who plays Cate Randa, revealed in a post on social media that the highly anticipated second season of the monster show had wrapped. The show's production company, Legendary Television, has since confirmed the news, taking to social media as well, and sharing a new image that shows some of the main cast on set.

Monarch: Legacy of Monsters is officially headed back to Apple TV+ as the streamer has confirmed that the second season has wrapped up production. A spin-off to the 2014 Godzilla film, Monarch Season 2 will once again follow Anna Sawai and members of the covert organization as they investigate the Titans. Monarch: Legacy of Monsters season 2 has gotten a new behind-the-scenes photo featuring the cast as filming for the Monsterverse TV show officially wraps. Monarch season 1 ended with Cate Randa (Anna Sawai), May (Kiersey Clemons), and Keiko (Mari Yamamoto) returning from the Hollow Earth in an Operation Hourglass vehicle. However, they end up on Skull Island two years later, learning Kentaro (Ren Watabe) and Hiroshi (Takehiro Hira) have joined Apex Cybernetics. Filming for season 2 began in July 2024, promising Kong's formal introduction into the series after his cameo in the final moments of season 1.

Now, Apple TVhas posted a behind-the-scenes image of Monarch: Legacy of Monsters season 2, showing Sawai, Clemons, Watabe, and Hira celebrating in front of the crashed Operation Hourglass vehicle. The post's caption confirmed the new episodes have officially finished filming, while asking viewers not to look too deep into what seems like destroyed parts of a building in the background.

The 32-year-old actress was spotted leaving a meeting at the W Hotel on Thursday (February 27) in West Hollywood, Calif.

Exclusive: Lincoln Child’s New York Times bestselling book series Jeremy Logan, is being put into feature development at Amazon MGM Studios with Safehouse Pictures producing.

Jeremy Lott and Cory Goodman are writing the script. The film will follow Jeremy Logan who is a self-proclaimed “enigmatologist,” an investigator who works to debunk the paranormal and unexplained using modern science. The Jeremy Logan books include the Child’s novels Deep Storm, Terminal Freeze, The Third Gate, The Forgotten Room, Full Wolf Moon, and Chrysalis.

In April, it was confirmed that Monarch: Legacy of Monsters season 2 was a sure thing, then filming began in November. The first season’s star Anna Sawai is back for season 2, and while speaking to the press after winning a SAG award for her role in Shōgun, Sawai teased that the new season will take the show’s characters on “a huge journey.’

For the second straight year, Netflix live-streamed the Screen Actors Guild Awards. The experience went extremely well, proving once again that the streamer is getting ever-better at such events. SAG Awards 2025 style truly ran the gamut Sunday night at the Shrine Auditorium, from chic and largely unadorned gowns to classic elegance among men and a few looks in which feathers and fringe ruled.

Among the men and women who excelled with their style choices during Sunday’s ceremony at the Shrine Auditorium, Shogun’s Anna Sawai brought modern drama in Giorgio Armani Privé, while Colman Domingo made classic look new in his Valentino ivory dinner jacket. Sunday’s 31st Screen Actors Guild Awards saw several of this year’s key competitors face off one last time before the Academy Awards on March 2 and the ceremony delivered more than a few surprises. Perhaps none was more significant than Timothée Chalamet winning Best Actor for his turn as Bob Dylan in A Complete Unknown in an upset over the awards-season favorite, The Brutalist star Adrien Brody. Or maybe it was Conclave thwarting high-powered rivals Anora and Wicked to land the night's biggest prize of best film ensemble.

Wicked came into the evening with a record-tying five nominations for film categories but failed to win anything. Anora, after a dominating run in precursor awards in recent weeks, finished 0-for-3.

Conclave took the marquee Ensemble in a Motion Picture prize at the 31st annual SAG Awards, which were handed out tonight at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles. The papal drama from Focus Features, which won Best Film at the recent BAFTA Awards, is up for eight Academy Awards next weekend.

The category is SAG’s version of Best Picture and, as often as not, has produced some interesting upsets that sent movies such as Parasite, Coda and others on to Best Picture Oscar glory. All of SAG’s Ensemble nominees also are up for the top Academy Award.

Kieran Culkin won the award for best actor in a supporting role Sunday night at the 2025 SAG Awards.

Pamela Anderson presented Culkin with the statue, which he noted was an “incredibly heavy award” before poking fun at the length of Adrien Brody’s acceptance speeches. “I don’t think anyone could hold this for 45 seconds, which would be a lot of time, Adrien Brody,” he quipped. “There was no reason to take that shot. I love you, it’s a joke, you take your time.”

Anna Sawai has responded to rumors that have her pegged to play Yoko Ono in the upcoming set of Beatles films from director Sam Mendes.

“I think a rumor is just a rumor,” the actress said backstage at the SAG Awards, following her latest big award win for her breakout role in FX’s Shōgun.

In discussing her next professional steps, Sawai told Deadline, “I’m still trying to figure out what I want to do, so I’m reading a lot of scripts. I’m also doing a lot of meetings and I just want to make sure that what I’m choosing is the right thing. So it might take time for me to find the right project, but I’m trying to be selective so that I can surprise everyone who’s going to watch it.”

Hiroyuki Sanada, Anna Sawai, and Tadanobu Asano stepped out for the 2025 Screen Actors Guild Awards on Sunday (February 23) at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles.

Fellow Shogun stars at the event included Moeka Hoshi, Tommy Bastow, Shinnosuke Abe, and Hiroto Kanai.

Shogun is nominated tonight for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series while Hiroyuki and Anna are also both nominated for their roles.

The SAG Awards will stream live on Netflix for the second year in a row. This also marks Kristen Bell‘s second time as host after previously serving as the emcee in 2018. “Wicked” went into the show leading all films with five nominations, followed by “A Complete Unknown” with four and “Anora” and “Emilia Perez” with two.

In the television categories, “Shōgun” led with five nominations, followed by “The Bear” with four and “The Diplomat” and “The Penguin” with three.

Over the 30-year history of the SAG Awards, individual winners in the film categories have gone on to win Academy Awards for acting 75% of the time. All four SAG winners have repeated at the Oscars 10 times, with eight of those times coming in the last 15 years.

The winning film in the SAG Awards’ ensemble-cast category has won the Oscar for Best Picture about half the time, including the last three years in a row and four times in the last five years.
