James Cameron revealed that his wife had a strong emotional response after watching Avatar: Fire and Ash for the first time. In an interview with Empire, the director said she watched an early cut of the film without having seen any prior footage and was deeply affected.
“My wife watched the whole thing from end to end. She had kept herself away from it, and I wasn’t showing her bits and pieces as we went along,” Cameron said. “She cried for four hours. She kept trying to compose herself so she could tell me specific reactions, and then she’d tear up and start crying again.”
He eventually had to pause the conversation. “Finally, I’m like, ‘Honey, I’ve got to go to bed. Sorry, we’ll talk about it some other time,’” he recalled.
Avatar: Fire and Ash is the third installment in Cameron’s Avatar series.

James Cameron said his wife had an intense emotional reaction when she first watched his latest “Avatar” installment, “Fire and Ash.”
In a conversation with Empire, Cameron said when he first showed his wife an early cut of the sci-fi epic, she was completely overcome with emotion and could not stop herself from crying.
“My wife watched the whole thing from end to end. She had kept herself away from it and I wasn’t showing her bits and pieces as we went along. This was Dec. 22,” Cameron said. “She bawled for four hours. She kept trying to get her shit back together so she could tell me specific reactions, and then she’d just tear up and start crying again. “Fire and Ash” is Cameron’s third chapter in his sprawling “Avatar” franchise.

Released in 2009, director James Cameron’s film Avatar became the first movie to officially gross more than $2 billion. Then it took him thirteen years to get a sequel into theatres, so it wasn’t clear if the follow-up was going to be able to replicate that success. But then, sure enough, Avatar: The Way of Water also grossed more than $2 billion, paving the way for not only Avatar 3, or Avatar: Fire and Ash, (which is scheduled to reach theatres on December 19, 2025) but also Avatar 4 and Avatar 5 – which will be released on December 21, 2029 and December 19, 2031, respectively. The first Avatar was quite long, with a running time of 2 hours and 42 minutes, but Avatar: The Way of Water surpassed it, going on for 3 hours and 12 minutes. Now, Cameron has confirmed that Avatar: Fire and Ash will be even longer.

James Cameron has revealed that Avatar: Fire and Ash, the upcoming third installment in the Avatar franchise, will surpass the runtime of The Way of Water, which ran for three hours and 12 minutes. The director explained that an overflow of ideas during production led to the decision to shift part of the story to the next film.
“In a nutshell, we had too many great ideas packed into act one of movie two,” Cameron told Empire magazine. “The [film] was moving like a bullet train, and we weren’t drilling down enough on character. So I said, ‘Guys, we’ve got to split it.’” As a result, he confirmed, “movie three will actually be a little bit longer than movie two.”

Better make it a large popcorn, because James Cameron’s next “Avatar” film, “Fire and Ash,” will be even longer than 2022’s “The Way of Water,” which clocked in at three hours and 12 minutes.
In a recent sitdown with Empire, Cameron said he and his writers developed too much material for “The Way of Water,” and when production began, had to move some of the story from that movie into its sequel, “Fire and Ash.”

James Cameron's Avatar movies have proven to be extremely divisive, but no matter how you feel about him devoting such a huge chunk of his career to the series, seeing Pandora on the big screen remains quite the spectacle. From lush jungles to blue skies and, in 2022's The Way of Water, sweeping oceans, the planet is visually breathtaking.
However, when Avatar: Fire and Ash takes us to the home of the Mangkwan Clan (a.k.a. the Ash Clan), we'll explore the Ash Village, a location that's vastly different to what we've grown used to seeing in these movies.
That doesn't mean we're leaving Pandor's oceans behind, though, something that's evident from a newly revealed piece of concept art showing Lo'ak riding an ilu. Then again, perhaps this was to be expected.

Love or hate the Avatar movies, it's hard to deny that seeing Pandora on screen has become quite the spectacle. From lush jungles to blue skies and, in 2022's The Way of Water, sweeping oceans, the planet is visually breathtaking.

Avatar: Fire and Ash will once again explore previously unseen areas of Pandora. Along with the hostile Ash Clan, the Mangkwans, Jake and Neytiri will meet the mysterious Wind Traders (a.k.a. the Tlalim Clan).
According to Empire Online (via SFFGazette.com), they're a group of Na'vi who "traverse the lush moon on gigantic jellyfish-like creatures," with Wonder Woman star David Thewlis set to play their leader, Peylak.
"They’re upbeat, happy, colourful," Avatar: Fire And Ash costume designer Deborah L. Scott says of the group. "And when they come into our movie, everyone’s excited to see them. It’s like the circus is in town."

We have a lot of huge movies heading our way this year, but 2025 will conclude with what's likely to be by far the biggest: James Cameron's Avatar: Fire and Ash.
The threequel will once again explore new parts of Pandora as we move on from the ocean-loving Metkayina to instead focus on the considerably less friendly Ash Clan. Today, we have a first look at Oona Chaplin's Varang and the movie's "Wind Traders."
"Varang is the leader of a people who have gone through an incredible hardship. She's hardened by that," Cameron tells Empire Online (via SFFGazette.com). "She will do anything for them, even things that we would consider to be evil. One thing we wanted to do in this film is not be black-and-white simplistic. Or blue-and-pink simplistic."

James Cameron showed up at D23 Brazil (by video) earlier today to confirm that Avatar: Fire & Ash, the third instalment in the hit franchise, is now officially in post-production.
Five gorgeous pieces of concept art have since been released (via SFFGazette.com), offering a better idea of what to expect from the new corners of Pandora we'll explore in this next chapter of the filmmaker's epic sci-fi saga.
Cameron mentioned that the Ash People are a reflection of the worst side of N'avi, suggesting he pulled inspiration from the reality when he noted, "We have a lot of anger and a lot of rage in the world we live in right now."
The threequel's other newly introduced N'avi tribe will be nomadic and travel through the air; however, the Ash People "were destroyed by volcanic eruptions, so they resent nature and everything the forest Na'vi preach."

Recasts on television shows and movies happen all the time for various reasons, but the explanation behind Bailey Bass' exit from her role as Claudia in Interview with the Vampire season 2 is a bit unclear. The AMC gothic horror television series, created by Rolin Jones, is based on Anne Rice's 1976 book of the same name. Interview with the Vampire season 1 introduced viewers to Louis de Pointe du Lac, a vampire recounting his life story to a journalist in 2022, including his time in New Orleans in the 1910s and his encounter with Claudia, a teenage vampire.
Bass originated the role of Claudia in season 1, and Delainey Hayles took over for the actress in season 2. Aside from Hayles, the cast of Interview with the Vampire season 2 includes Jacob Anderson as Louis de Pointe du Lac, Sam Reid as Lestat de Lioncourt, Eric Bogosian as Daniel Molloy, Assad Zaman as Armand, and Ben Daniels as Santiago.

Spoiler Warning: The following article contains spoilers for Interview with the Vampire season 2.
Delainey Hayles is an up-and-coming actress who earned herself an important role in the AMC series Interview with the Vampire. Based on the Interview with the Vampire books by Anne Rice, the show premiered in 2022 as the third adaptation of the series after the 1994 movie with Tom Cruise and Brad Pitt and the 2002 film, Queen of the Damned, starring Stuart Townsend and Aaliyah. Unlike those first two films, Interview with the Vampire the series more readily embraces the queer ideas present in Rice's original texts and makes them a core part of the show.

Anne Rice's Vampire Chronicles have legions of fans who know the whole tale by heart. The epic romance between the tormented Louis de Pointe du Lac and his maker, Lestat de Lioncourt, unfurled in thirteen novels and two feature films so how could a new TV series freshen up such a familiar story? By introducing more twists and turns than the whole human circulatory system, AMC's Interview With the Vampire has hooked audiences with its unpredictable version of events. New fans hoping to catch up in time for Season 3 will need a big explanation of Season 2's conclusion.
In Rice's initial 1976 novel, the tormented Louis confesses the sordid details of his vampiric existence to a captivated journalist. In showrunner Rolin Jones's TV series, Louis (Jacob Anderson) gives a second interview to writer Daniel Molloy (Eric Bogosian); they first spoke fifty years prior, but neither man remembers exactly what happened.

Netflix has a lot of offerings this month but a huge one is that the streamer will be taking on a score of programs from AMC all releasing on Aug. 19. So which are the best to check out?
For years, AMC has been known for its terrific original series, from Mad Men to Breaking Bad, many of which are Emmy-winning hits. The network runs a nice gamut from drama to more action-oriented and thanks to a new deal with Netflix, nearly a dozen of their shows are hitting the streamer. Some may be good watches if a bit uneven (Mayfair Witches) and others not quite as well known.
However, there are some great shows to check out, and these half-dozen series are all worth checking out to show how this AMC roster on Netflix enhances the streamer.

Second chances are hard to come by, and even when they do happen, it's not always for the best. That's true for vampires like Louis (Jacob Anderson), who are brought back from the dead only to wish they were still dead when forced to face the agonies of a never-ending life in darkness. And that could have also been true for Interview With The Vampire itself, a critically lauded yet bizarrely overlooked adaptation of Anne Rice's saga that could have easily been cancelled after just one season. But thank the dark gods it wasn't, because Season 2 defies any potential sophomore slump by expanding the world once contained to a New Orleans townhouse with an international scope that's just as mesmeric and more theatrical than ever.
Season 2 establishes this immediately, with an opening card that explains Claudia's recasting with a simple, elegant reveal.

AMC is sitting on a treasure trove of television that deserves more attention. Everyone knows the house responsible for three of the finest entries in the age of the TV antihero -- "Mad Men," "Breaking Bad," and "Better Call Saul" -- is home to "The Walking Dead" and its many sequels and spinoffs. But it's also the network that's given us "Orphan Black," "Halt and Catch Fire," "Dark Winds," "Lodge 49," "Into the Badlands," and all the other best shows you've heard of but never gotten around the watching because there's just too much damn interesting TV to check out as is. Thankfully, though, one of the more underseen jewels in AMC's crown -- not to mention the greatest vampire show on television -- is about to become available to a much larger audience.
