The footage finds a man sitting in a very Nostromo-esque control room as his crewmate desperately tries to convince him to open the door and let her in. The woman then turns to face whatever has been stalking her, and we get a first look at one of the show's Xenomorphs on the attack.

We’re talking about Sohum Shah’s Crazxy and Superboys Of Malegaon, starring Adarsh Gourav, Vineet Kumar Singh, and Shashank Arora. Both films enjoyed critical acclaim, but did they find any audience at the Indian box office? Let’s find it out by looking at their 7-day run!

Reception of both films

Both releases belonged to different genres. Sohum Shah’s film was a thriller, while the other one was a coming-of-age film. Both received positive reviews from critics for the content they offered. The performances of the cast were praised, along with the screenplay and overall execution. Even among the ticket-buying audience, they received favorable word-of-mouth. However, this positivity didn’t reach a wider section of the audience.

The xenomorphs will soon be crashing to Earth, and now we know a few more people they may or may not be having for lunch. Later this year, FX will premiere Alien: Earth, its new television series from Fargo creator Noah Hawley. Set two years before the original Alien film, the series will explore how the massive corporations ruling Earth came to learn about the xenomorph.

Alien: Earth wrapped filming back in July 2024, but many of the details about the series have been kept under wraps. That's starting to change. Earlier this week, The Hollywood Reporter revealed 11n new cast members who will play guest starring roles in Alien: Earth. The new actors joining the series are Richa Moorjani (Fargo), Karen Aldridge, Enzo Cilenti (Game of Thrones), Max Rinehart (Unforgotten), Amir Boutrous (The Crown), Victoria Masoma, Tom Moya, Andy Yu (Fargo), Michael Smiley (Bad Sisters), Jamie Bisping (The Rings of Power) and Tanapol Chuksrida.

While we're still waiting on a full trailer, FX recently released some snippets of new footage (see below) for Noah Hawley's Alien: Earth, and we now have a series of short "Secret Transmission" teasers which appear to document the events that lead to the Uscss Maginot crash-landing on Earth.

There are quite a few classic Alien callbacks here, including very familiar computer sounds, garbled transmissions, interiors that look quite a bit like the Nostromo from Ridley Scott's film, and a cat that could very easily pass for Jonesy.

The first clip begins with a crew member fixing a camera to the cat's head, and our new feline friend ends up recording some kind of red alert event that sends the crew into a panic. We also see someone in a cryosleep pod, and we're willing to bet that this guy is just bursting to get off the ship...

The Alien saga continues with a mysterious package containing five (!) new clips. FX is in full promo mode, having already shown a clip of the Xenomorph from their upcoming series Alien: Earth in a recent, larger promo video for their 2025 lineup. The upcoming spinoff to the iconic sci-fi franchise is set two years before the events of Ridley Scott's original 1979 film, in the year 2120, when five corporations – Prodigy, Weyland-Yutani, Lynch, Dynamic and Threshold – control all technological advancement, promising the world a new tomorrow. Helmed by Fargo and Legion creator Noah Hawley, Alien: Earth is already heavily tied to the original film, but the data drive that we received from FX shows a possibly familiar furry friend showing audiences around the soon-to-crash Uscss Maginot.

The description for all five videos is the same and reads as follows: "We suspect there is important information pertaining to Weyland Yutani's Deep Space Programs that could be of use to the corporation. While we wait to hear a specific premiere date for the show, FX has announced the names of 11 actors who have guest roles. They are Richa Moorjani (Never Have I Ever), Karen Aldridge (Severance), Enzo Cilenti (Game of Thrones), Max Rinehart (Unforgotten), Amir Boutrous (The Crown), newcomer Victoria Masoma, Tom Moya (Midsomer Murders), Andy Yu (Mid-Love Crisis), Michael Smiley (Bad Sisters), Jamie Bisping (Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power), and Tanapol Chuksrida (The Green Deal). Details on their characters have not been shared.

Hulu has released a sneak peek of its upcoming TV shows, and that means we have a new look at Alien: Earth. The brief preview offers our first proper glimpse at showrunner Noah Hawley's take on the iconic Xenomorph, and it's suitably terrifying.

It's hard to say how much this interpretation differs from others we've seen over the decades. However, the design is pretty much what you'd expect and perhaps closest to how the terrifying alien first appeared in the 1979 classic.

It's a good time to be a fan of the Alien franchise. After last year's incredibly successful Alien: Romulus, written and directed by Fede Álvarez, a sequel was greenlit with the director returning to continue the story of Rain Carradine (Cailee Spaeny). According to the early estimates in Sacnilk, Superboys Of Malegaon amassed 65 lakhs* on its 2nd day. The total India net collection of the film now comes to 1.15 crore*. The movie remains below 2 crores, with the day-wise collections not surpassing even 1 crore.

Sohum Shah’s thriller Crazxy has received favorable reviews but will take time to shine bright at the box office. It has showcased slight growth in collections on Saturday after opening on the predicted lines. Scroll below for the early trends of day 2.

Girish Kohli’s directorial majorly relied on word-of-mouth. While the early reviews have been fairly positive, there’s another huge roadblock. Sohum Shah starrer has only been provided a limited show count due to Chhaava stealing the maximum screens amid massive demand.

As per early trends, Crazxy has earned around 1.25-1.50 crores at the box office on day 2. It has witnessed a slight growth of 14-36% compared to 1.10 crores minted on the opening day. Ideally, the figures should have been higher but the strong competition from Chhaava and limited screen count is impacting the run.

Usually I explain it by describing the theater where I watched every new Hindi film from 2005-2009: a suburban Michigan multiplex whose concession counter was flanked by two sacred symbols — a statue of the Hindu god Ganesh, and a framed photo of actor Shah Rukh Khan.

Adarsh Gourav starrer relies heavily on word-of-mouth to drive the audience to the ticket windows. Critics shared their reviews a day before the release and gave a huge thumbs up to Reema Kagti’s directorial. In advance booking, Superboys Of Malegaon sold 2,758 tickets at the top national chains.

Around 1,507 tickets were sold in PVR Inox. At Cinepolis, it registered ticket sales of 907. This is followed by Movietime (159), Moviemax (105), Miraj Cinemas (10) and Rajhans Cinemas (72). The pre-sales have been low,...
