If there is one thing that Chicago Med season 10 has taught us, it’s that we should really learn to expect the unexpected. First came the return of Rachel Dipillo as Dr. Sarah Reese, marking her first appearance on the show since her exit way back in season 4. Then came episode 15, which brought about an unexpected return of a character whose time seemingly had come to an end via a really fun cameo.

Warning! Spoiler ahead for Chicago Med season 10, episode 9.
Chicago Med's Sharon Goodwin (S Epatha Merkerson) makes a joke at the end of episode 9, "No Love Lost," that could also foreshadow a big character return. It is an important year for the medical drama, as it marks its first decade on the air. To celebrate, new showrunner Allen MacDonald has already promised that several former Chicago Med characters will return to Gaffney Medical Center. MacDonald began fulfilling his promise in Chicago Med season 10, episode 8 by bringing back Sarah Reese (Rachel Dipillo) for two episodes.
Reese had not been seen since season 4, when she abruptly quit Gaffney after accusing Dr. Charles (Oliver Platt) of having allowed her father to die. Fortunately, her guest appearance allowed her to finally end her Chicago Med storyline, and her new exit leaves the door open for her to return in the future. Hopefully, she will...

Chicago Med had a few pressing matters to get to in its season 10 winter premiere. It had to assure fans that Dr. Sharon Goodwin (S Epatha Merkerson) was alive and (mostly) well, and it it had to assure them that Dr. Dean Archer (Steven Weber) was not going to be leaving.
These were cliffhangers that were teased in the season 10 fall finale. We expected to get resolution on these. What we didn't expect, however, was to get a resolution to a story arc that was abandoned back in season 4! Chicago Med's decision to bring back Sarah Reese (Rachel Dipillo) closed the book on a storyline we thought had been long abandoned.

Chicago Med had a lot to cover in its season 10 winter premiere. It has to resolve the confusion over Dr. Dean Archer (Steven Weber), and whether he was leaving the show. It also had to assure viewers that Dr. Sharon Goodwin (S Epatha Merkerson) was going to survive her near fatal stabbing.
The episode "No Love Lost" managed to do both, but it also found time to sneak in a reference to a character we did not see coming. Goodwin was thrilled to see former Gaffney employee Dr. Sarah Reese (Rachel Dipillo), and the latter's return led Goodwin to make a joke about Will Halstead (Nick Gehlfuss).

Chicago Med season 10, episode 9, "No Love Lost," finally wrapped up a storyline that had been left unresolved after a character exit 7 years ago. Chicago Med season 10, episode 9, "No Love Lost," answers several pressing questions by the end, though one character's fate is still up in the air. Chicago Med season 10, episode 8. "Love Will Tear Us Apart" ended on a cliffhanger, leaving several big questions unresolved. The youngest One Chicago show will be part of a crossover event on January 29, but first, it needs to continue several big storylines. "Love Will Tear Us Apart" featured the return of Dr. Charles' (Oliver Platt) former psychiatric resident, Sarah Reese (Rachel Dipillo), who butted heads with him over whether a patient needed to be admitted to the hospital, but that was only one of three exciting storylines for Chicago Med's cast of characters.
The fall finale revealed Sharon's (S Epatha Merkerson) stalker, who held her hostage in her office throughout the hour-long episode. Archer is one of actor Steven Weber's best TV characters. He has been the Ed chief since his arrival in season 6, when he took the position on an interim basis as a favor to Choi (Brian Tee), who he served with in the Navy. Warning! This article contains Spoilers for Chicago Med season 10, episode 8.
This article mentions suicide.
Though her return was a surprise, Rachel Dipillo's Sarah Reese had a good reason for leaving Chicago Med at the beginning of season 4 and returning in season 10. Reese was originally a medical intern who had a difficult time finding her footing. She almost quit medicine after deciding Pathology was not for her, but Dr. Charles (Oliver Platt) convinced her to work for him instead. Thus, Reese was part of the original cast of the One Chicago universe's medical drama, though she disappeared for six years after her exit.
Reese parted with Gaffney Medical Center on poor terms with Dr. Charles after she felt betrayed by him and supposedly went to Texas. However, when she returned in season 10, she revealed she had been working in Chicago for the past four years and was now working at a psychiatric clinic nearby.

This article discusses suicide.
Sarah Reese (Rachel Dipillo) returned to Chicago Med after a six-year absence in season 10, episode 8, "Love Will Tear Us Apart.". The character was one of the main residents during the medical drama's early seasons but left after a falling out with Dr. Charles (Oliver Platt) in season 4. Reese's return is part of a story in which Dr. Charles (Oliver Platt) is asked to evaluate a patient who potentially attempted suicide. The following contains major spoilers from Chicago Med Season 10, Episode 8, "Love Will Tear Us Apart," which debuted Wednesday, Nov. 20 on NBC.
Chicago Med Season 10, Episode 8, "Love Will Tear Us Apart," is a retrospective in more ways than one. It brings back original character Dr. Sarah Reese when audiences never expected to see her again, and gives her one last storyline. But the episode also is so focused on tying up loose ends that it occasionally feels like it's checking of a plot to-do list, rather than giving viewers something to get excited about.
"Love Will Tear Us Apart" brings Reese back into the Gaffney Chicago Medical Center fold when one of her patients is taken to the Emergency Department, but it's not a happy return. Meanwhile, the story of who threatened Sharon Goodwin gets a second conclusion that's as much of a head-scratcher as the first. And there are a few other developments,...

Chicago Med has seen many actors come and go over the years, but fans often forget that the first major exit the show underwent came in season 4 with the departure of Rachel Dipillo. After three seasons as a series regular playing the role of med student turned psych resident, Dr. Sarah Reese, Dipillo was quickly written off the show in the season 4 premiere.
Following her exit, Chicago Med’s showrunner at the time, Andrew Schneider, told One Chicago Center that the door remained open for Reese to return down the line promising that “if we can find a good way to bring her back later, we’ll entertain that.” Sadly, it seems they weren’t able to find a good way to bring her back as Dr. Reese was never seen again on the show following her abrupt exit.
Fans had all but given up hope that we’d get to see Dr.

The Chicago Med cast has said goodbye to many members, including Rachel Dipillo, who used to play Dr. Sarah Reese.
Dipillo was one of the original Chicago Med actresses, first serving as a medical student at Gaffney in Season 1. She then became a psychiatry resident under Dr. Daniel Charles (Oliver Platt).
Many folks from Chicago Med Season 1 have also left the show, including Torrey DeVitto as Dr. Natalie Manning, Yaya DaCosta as April Sexton, Colin Donnell as Dr. Connor Rhodes, Nick Gehlfuss as Dr. Will Halstead, and Brian Tee as Dr. Ethan Choi.
The Chicago Med writers have a way of bringing characters back, like when Dr. Choi and April Sexton returned and got married.
Dr. Manning also returned in a brief scene where she welcomed Dr. Halstead as he arrived in Seattle (after he quit the hospital).
Now Dr. Reese returns, as revealed ahead of the Chicago Med fall finale.

A new trailer for Chicago Med has been released, showing an original character, Dr. Sarah Reese, reuniting with Dr. Daniel Charles in the season 10, episode 8 trailer, after departing long ago. Reese (Rachel Dipillo) left the show as a regular at the very start of season 4, when she transferred to Baylor after falling out with Charles (Oliver Platt). When Chicago Med's new showrunner Allen McDonald said that the show would bring back past characters, no one could have anticipated Sarah Reese's (Rachel Dipillo) return to Chicago Gaffney Medical Centre. Sarah departed in Season 4 after a serious disagreement with Charles. Both thought that was the end, but according to the promo video for the November 20 episode, Sarah returns to Gaffney, much to Charles' shock. The logline for Chicago Med Season 10, Episode 8, "Love Will Tear Us Apart," teases the escalation of Goodwin's stalker situation, which is also previewed in the promo video, and Sarah's return.

The Chicago Med season 10 fall finale is about to welcome a blast from the past with the eighth episode of the season bringing back an original member of the cast, last seen way back in season 4!
As teased in the promo for the episode, “Love Will Tear Us Apart,” original cast member Rachel Dipillo is staging a comeback more than six years after exiting the series, reprising her role as Dr. Charles’ former psych resident Dr. Sarah Reese.
Dipillo’s Dr. Reese was a central part of the show’s first three seasons with her mentor/mentee relationship with Dr. Charles standing out as a favorite among fans. Sadly, the two characters did not end on the best of terms with Dr. Reese leaving Med in the season 4 premiere when she chose to continue her residency at another hospital after learning the truth that Dr. Charles nearly let her father die.

When Chicago Med first debuted in 2015, the series introduced fans to a ton of experienced and alluring doctors. Although some of the figures have moved on from Gaffney Medical Center, a sublime selection of characters still remains near and dear to the audience's heart. As such, though this series thrives on its high-adrenaline storylines, it's the people who help keep the momentum going.
It's also evident that these characters help to add a much-needed sense of realism to this hard-hitting medical procedure. While the complex medical cases are enough to keep fans on the edge of their seats, they often need to relate to the characters to get the full scope of the story. But with so many amazing characters to choose from, some fans struggle to name their all-time favorite.

Chicago Med began airing in November 2015, after a successful backdoor pilot in the third season of Chicago Fire. The third show in the One Chicago franchise, Chicago Med, focuses on the doctors and nurses who work at Gaffney Chicago Medical Center, specifically in the Emergency Department. Audiences have fallen in love with the doctors at Med and how they interact with their patients and build relationships with one another.
Led by Sharon Goodwin (S. Epatha Merkerson), the Director of Patient and Medical Services, the team at Med serves patients who come into the Emergency Department and need support with mental health issues, drug addiction, major traumas, childbirth, and any other medical issue that might come up. Other members of Med's leadership include Daniel Charles (Oliver Platt), the Head of Psychiatry, and Dean Archer (Steven Webber), who runs the Emergency Department. All three ongoing One Chicago shows have been renewed by NBC. This includes Chicago Fire season 13, P.D. season 12, and Med season 10. The shows are showing strong audience hold which spells good news for their longevity.
One Chicago has received a sweeping slate of renewals. The universe consists of interconnected NBC shows which all follow various first responders in Chicago. Fire, which premiered in 2013, was the first show in the universe, followed by P.D. in 2014 and Med in 2015. Each show was first introduced as a backdoor pilot in a previous show, and all have run consistently since then, with the only spinoff that failed to spark being the one-season 2015 show Justice.
Per Deadline, all three ongoing shows in the Illinois-set Dick Wolf universe have been renewed by NBC. This includes Chicago Fire season 13, P.D. season 12, and Med season 10. While episode counts have not yet been revealed, it seems...

Dr. Reese, played by Rachel Dipillo, left Chicago Med in season 4 due to her manipulative father's return into her life as a patient. Despite excelling in her role and mentorship under Dr. Charles, Dr. Reese decided to leave Gaffney Medical Center for a new life in Texas. Rachel Dipillo's final appearance in the Chicago franchise led to new characters like Dr. Marcel and Dr. Archer joining the cast.
Dr. Reese in Chicago Med was played by actor Rachel Dipillo but the actor left the show in season 4. Dr. Sarah Reese made her first appearance in Chicago Med season 1, episode 1 "Derailed" and she was seen as a very clinical doctor, which sometimes caused trouble with her patients. This led to her abandoning her career as a doctor and attempting to be a psychiatrist under Dr. Daniel Charles (Oliver Platt). However, this relationship led to the reason why Dr. Reese left Chicago Med.

Chicago Med has had the highest rate of turnover among the One Chicago shows, with over 40 doctors and nurses leaving the hospital in its eight seasons. The arrival of Dr. Mitch Ripley, a former patient of Dr. Charles, will bring new challenges and storylines for the character. Dr. Zola Ahmad exhibits some of the same tendencies as Will Halstead, practicing vigilante medicine, and will face repercussions as she grapples with medical ethics.
Chicago Med began airing in 2015 and is the third installment of the One Chicago franchise by Wolf Entertainment. Run by Sharon Goodwin (S. Chicago Med producer and co-showrunner Andrew Schneider explains character Ethan Choi’s exit story in December 7’s episode. A former US Navy officer, Ethan — portrayed by actor Brian Tee — starts off fresh in season 1 as a Resident at Gaffney Chicago Medical Center, before progressively moving up in the ranks and finally becoming the Chief of Emergency Medicine in season 6. Ethan is one of few characters to have appeared for all aired seasons of Chicago Med, though this is about to change.
Schneider shares with People about the end of Ethan’s journey on Chicago Med season 8, and gives context on how that journey will wrap up in episode 9. He reveals that his story is closely tied to April (Yaya DaCosta) in two major ways, the first being their long-awaited wedding, and the second is their future working together in a mobile clinic, upon their departure from Gaffney.
