The Game of Thrones extended universe is continuing to expand, as George R.R. Martin just gave a major update on the franchise's newest show. As well as Season 3 of House of the Dragon and several other new spin-offs currently in development, HBO is also working on A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, which adapts one of Martin's smaller stories set in Westeros. Season 1 of the new series, which stars Peter Claffey as Ser Duncan the Tall, a.k.a. Dunk is set to premiere sometime this year. But, HBO apparently has a lot of confidence in the latest series having a long future.
During an interview with Collider, George R.R. Martin took more time away from writing The Winds of Winter to promote A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms. "I've seen Dunk and Egg, the first season, and it's great," Martin began. The new show is set around 90 years before Game of Thrones,...

When you think of an Agatha Christie whodunnit, specific murder mysteries come to mind. Some stories begin as traditional cases but end with startling revelations, the kind that "The Murder of Roger Ackroyd" executes all too well. Then there are the thrilling, challenging titles, like Christie's "Murder on the Orient Express," which presents a huge cast of suspects harboring grudges within a kinetic setting. Sometimes, Christie challenges the brilliance of her own heroic figures, such as when detective Hercule Poirot races against time to catch a serial killer in "The ABC Murders." While every whodunnit has a distinct flavor, Christie's strengths as a writer lie in hiding the truth in plain sight and pulling off concluding twists with conviction. One of the more overlooked Christie murder mysteries embodying these strengths best is 1934's "Why Didn't They Ask Evans?," which keeps readers guessing up until the big reveal.

The crime drama The Gentlemen, which became a hit when it premiered last year on Netflix, has left fans eagerly awaiting its next season. In August 2024, Netflix renewed the series for a second installment, and viewers are excited to see what’s in store for their favorite characters. But unfortunately, it doesn't look like the crime drama series will be returning for its second season this year. The Gentlemen was noticeably absent from Netflix's 2025 lineup, leading many to believe that its second season won't be released until 2026.
Given that the crime drama was renewed in mid-2024, it initially seemed like there would be plenty of time for the filmmaking process for The Gentlemen season 2 to make a 2025 release. However, that doesn't appear to be the case anymore. Production on The Gentlemen season 2 is reportedly set to start sometime in April this year and is expected to last for about four to eight months.

There is a new Game of Thrones prequel series coming out sometime this year: A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, based on the Tales of Dunk and Egg novellas by George R.R. Martin. This first season is based on the first novella, "The Hedge Knight," which gets us acquainted with a stalwart knight named Ser Duncan the Tall (Peter Claffey) and his precocious squire Egg (Dexter Sol Ansell). The story is set decades before the events of Game of Thrones but decades after the events of House of the Dragon, HBO's other Game of Thrones prequel series. Don't expect characters from either of those shows to turn up.
Martin wrote the source material for all three series, and he's just taken to his Not a Blog to share his thoughts about this newest one. "I’ve seen all six episodes now, and I loved them," he wrote. "Dunk and Egg...

The past few years have seen an increase in the quality and volume of fantasy TV shows, and the 2025 lineup makes it seem like this trend is continuing. Not only are long-running series returning for another installment, but new shows are premiering in the coming year, making for a diverse and compelling fantasy landscape on TV. Each series that's coming out with a new season in 2025 will present new ideas and exciting storylines that will capture the audiences' imagination. Part of the appeal of speculative fiction is that the world-building and magic systems make almost any plot possible.
While some fantasy TV shows are ending in 2025, others are just getting started. Many of these projects are based on written work, with some of the most famous high fantasy series being brought to life next year. However, just as many are original narratives that have evolved over the years, surprising audiences at every turn.

Netflix has submitted a total of 32 TV programs for awards consideration at the upcoming Golden Globes, and 20 for the Screen Actors Guild Awards, Gold Derby has learned exclusively.
Some of the streamer’s notable TV titles include Season 2 of “Squid Game,” the survival thriller starring Emmy and SAG winner Lee Jung-jae; popular new comedy “Nobody Wants This,” about an agnostic woman (Kristen Bell) and an unconventional rabbi (Adam Brody); and “Baby Reindeer,” the buzzy limited series that recently set the Emmys on fire, going home with six trophies. See the full list of submissions below, broken down by show.
Note that the Golden Globes have lead actor and lead actress categories that are separated by TV genres (drama/comedy/limited), but that the supporting actor and supporting actress races encapsulate all genres. Guy Ritchie is now assembling the cast for his next movie, and it could be the strongest group of actors yet. Across his career, Ritchie has worked with the likes of Jason Statham, Stephen Graham, Brad Pitt, Robert Downey Jr., Jude Law, Jake Gyllenhaal, Colin Farrell, Matthew McConaughey, Hugh Grant, Henry Cavill, and the list goes on. So, how does he keep managing to assemble greater and greater casts for his movies?
Per Variety, Guy Ritchie is teaming up with Sherlock star Benedict Cumberbatch, Gone Girl actress Rosamund Pike, and an actor who needs no introduction, Anthony Hopkins, for his next film, Wife & Dog, which will continue Ritchie's trend of examining and dissecting the British aristocracy much like he did with The Gentlemen. In his early career, the director was obsessed with low-level cockney gangsters in London. However, recent years have seen Ritchie turn his attention to the wealthy elite.

George R.R. Martin is teasing a project with Game of Thrones star Maisie Williams.
The author of A Song of Ice and Fire, the fantasy novel that inspired the HBO drama series created by David Benioff and D.B. Weiss, hinted he was working with Williams on something.
“We also got together with Maisie Williams for pizza and pasta, and talked about — well, no, better not get into that, do not want to jinx it,” Martin wrote in his blog as he recounted his travels in London. “But it could be so much fun.”
Martin didn’t specify what the project with Williams was about or whether it involved a Game of Thrones sequel. Williams played Arya Stark throughout the show’s eight-season run on HBO.
HBO head Casey Bloys commented earlier in the day on how it to work with Martin on the multiple projects set in the Game of Thrones universe.

A new favorite for the next James Bond has emerged...and hes a real gentleman. According to the British gambling company, William Hill, Kick-Ass and Kraven the Hunter star Aaron Taylor-Johnson is still the odds-on favorite to take over the iconic role from Daniel Craig following his swansong in No Time to Die, but another actor, The Gentlemen and The White Lotus star Theo James is slowly creeping up behind him.
Taylor-Johnson, who has been a betting favorite for the role for some time, with various reports and rumors claiming that he has had meetings about taking over as 007, is currently priced at 11/10 to win the role of James Bond. One of Netflix's hottest shows of 2024 has gotten a second-season renewal! Here's what we know so far on The Gentlemen Season 2!
Fans of Netflix are used to the streamer sadly canceling some great shows after one season. So it's a bit of a surprise to hear one is getting renewed just five months after appearing. However, it shows that The Gentlemen has become a hot series for fans.
Created by famed director Guy Ritchie, the movie is loosely based on his 2019 film of the same name. It follows Eddie Horniman (Theo James), a Sas officer who returns to his English estate when his father dies. Eddie is shocked when he's named the heir to the place over older brother Freddy (Daniel Ings). That's because Freddie is a drug-addicted moron who's millions of pounds in debt to local mobsters.
Eddie soon discovers that his father is growing a cannabis farm...
