Before Deadpool & Wolverine arrived in theaters, we were told repeatedly that the Marvel Studios movie wouldn't undo the events of Logan and would instead respect what was meant to be Hugh Jackman's farewell to the character.

While the threequel did indeed leave that Wolverine Variant dead and gone, "respect" wasn't quite the word many fans would use for how Deadpool & Wolverine kicked off.

The Merc with the Mouth dug up Logan's body and, upon realising that there was no coming back for the fallen X-Man, he proceeded to use his claws and bones to brutally slaughter a squadron of Tva agents...to the tune of "Bye Bye Bye" by Nsync.

It was an awesome way to open the movie and Hot Toys has now unveiled a new 1/6th-scale figure of Wade Wilson based on that sequence.

J.J. Abrams (“The Force Awakens”) and showrunner Latoya Morgan’s (“Shameless”) new series “Duster” will debut May 15, with the first official trailer teasing an increasingly dangerous crime syndicate.

Starring Josh Holloway (“Lost”), Rachel Hilson and Keith David (“The Thing”), “Duster” is set in the 1970s Southwest as a getaway driver gets entangled in a crime network that is threatened by the arrival of a young agent in town. Hilson stars as the first Black female FBI agent.

“Duster” was produced in association with Warner Bros. Television, with the eight episodes dropping weekly through the finale on July 3. The first two episodes are written by Abrams and Morgan, with Abrams and Rachel Rusch Rich executive producing for Bad Robot while Morgan executive produces for TinkerToy Productions.

The FX limited series “Dying for Sex” has set its premiere date at Hulu.

The series will premiere all eight episodes on April 4 in the U.S. on Hulu and internationally on Disney+. The show was first reported to be in the works at FX in 2023. It based on the Wondery podcast of the same name and is inspired by the true story of Molly Kochan and her best friend, Nikki Boyer.

Wesley Snipes' return as Blade in Deadpool & Wolverine was a huge surprise following his repeated clashes with Ryan Reynolds on the set of Blade: Trinity. The actor's scenes were among the threequel's best and it seems everyone wants to see more of the Daywalker.

True Detective star Mahershala Ali was announced as the McU's Blade in 2019 but has so far only lent his voice to Eternals' post-credits scene and the upcoming Marvel Zombies animated series (where he'll play a Blade Variant who becomes Moon Knight). As we write this, his solo movie appears no closer to becoming a reality.

We'll have to wait and see what happens there but Hot Toys has finally pulled the curtain back on its 1/6th scale Blade figure based on Snipes' appearance in Deadpool & Wolverine.

In Deadpool & Wolverine, the titular clawed mutant meets Laura, his Variant's "daughter" from 2017's Logan. In that movie, the original X-Men franchise's Wolverine made the ultimate sacrifice to give her and other young mutants the chance to fight for their future. 

After befriending Wade Wilson and making up for the sins of his past, the new Wolverine chooses to remain on Earth-10005 alongside Laura (who was saved from The Void by the Tva). 

Rumour has it that Dafne Keen will reprise her role as X-23 in Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars. It would make sense for Laura to finally suit up there, particularly if Earth-10005 is the same reality glimpsed at the end of The Marvels; the expectation is that an Incursion will lead to a clash between that world's mutants and Earth-616's Avengers.

After clashing on the set of It Ends With Us, actor Blake Lively's feud with co-star and director Justin Baldoni has led to multiple lawsuits being filed. Those feature almost endless charges and counter-charges but boil down to Lively accusing Baldoni of harassment and retaliation, with Baldoni saying the Green Lantern star has defamed him.

This weekend, Baldoni has updated his lawsuit against Lively to add various claims - a full breakdown can be found on a newly launched website - including accusations of bullying from Ryan Reynolds via Deadpool & Wolverine's Nicepool.

Baldoni and his lawyer argue that Nicepool was created by Reynolds to mock and bully him. "Reynolds portrayed Nicepool as a vicious caricature of a 'woke' feminist before concluding the character’s arc with his violent shooting death at the hands of 'Ladypool,' a character voiced by Blake Lively," the suit states.

Powerplex: A new villain with an emotional past, Powerplex absorbs energy – letting him use an enemy’s strength against them.

Last night, the news broke that It Ends With Us actor and director Justin Baldoni has officially sued co-star Blake Lively and husband Ryan Reynolds to the tune of $400 million - and it goes well beyond the Nicepool situation!

The lawsuit claims that the couple hijacked his film and attempted to "destroy him with false allegations of sexual harassment." The 179-page complaint also accuses Lively and Reynolds of civil extortion, defamation and invasion of privacy.

"Lively summoned him to her penthouse in New York, where Reynolds and a 'megacelebrity friend' — who appears to be Taylor Swift — both praised Lively’s version. In a later text message quoted in the complaint, Baldoni praised Lively’s contribution, and said he 'would have felt that way without Ryan and Taylor.' In fact, according to the complaint, Baldoni feared that he was being...

Earlier this week, Justin Baldoni's lawyer Bryan Freedman sent a litigation hold letter to Marvel Studios and Disney, demanding that they share all documents relating to the development of the Nicepool character in Deadpool and Wolverine.

In the movie, the Wade Wilson variant has a number of exchanges with the Og Deadpool that certainly could be construed as making reference to some of Blake Lively's accusations against her It Ends With Us co-star and director, and Baldoni is convinced that Reynolds was "flagrantly mocking" him with the creation of the character.

THR has now shared an update, and it seems Freedman believes that the character of Nicepool was developed around the same time Lively and Baldoni's relationship soured during the It Ends With Us shoot. Apparently, Nicepool was created before the rift between the actors, but scenes involving the variant were shot later on, following the November 2023 conclusion of the SAG-AFTRA strike.

At one point, Nicepool compliments Ladypool for “snapping back” into shape after giving birth. When Deadpool tells his variant that he's "not sure he can say that," Nicepool...

Deadpool & Wolverine essentially boiled down to 127 minutes of fan service, Easter eggs, and superhero icons returning for one-last hoorah. But, even with all that, some fans were still disappointed that the movie left out one key detail for much of the movie. Deadpool & Wolverine saw Hugh Jackman return as Wolverine, and as well as bringing the actor back, he also finally wore his beloved yellow suit from the comics. Logan even donned his iconic yellow mask in the giant finale fight against the Deadpool Corps, but some fans wish he'd worn it much earlier.

That's where VFX artist @TaranStingVFX1 comes in. Singh also believed Wolverine should have worn his yellow mask during a much earlier fight, and took it upon himself to make it so. When Deadpool (Ryan Reynolds) and Wolverine are first thrown into The Void, they immediately lock swords/claws in a CGI-filled fight with little consequences...

The businessman with a heart takes on crooked payday lenders in this predictable sequel that gets by on its heartfelt performances

It won no prizes for subtlety, but cheerful, victory-of-the-underdog comedy Bank of Dave featured a stonking lead performance by Rory Kinnear as Dave Fishwick. He’s the Burnley businessman who made millions selling vans then took a stand against fatcat bankers by opening his own community bank, the Bank of Dave, in 2011. Now Kinnear is back for a sequel, this time taking on crooked payday lenders. Like the first film, Bank of Dave 2 is predictable and cliché-ridden but gets by on likable, heartfelt performances, and the knowledge that in real life some of this stuff actually happened.

The film picks up two years after the original. The “Bank of Dave” on the high street in Burnley is still going strong – lending to ordinary people who struggle to secure loans from bigger banks.

Though the prospect of Deadpool coming back for a third film would have been enough to draw audiences in, Deadpool & Wolverine upped the movie's box office appeal by bringing back Hugh Jackman to star alongside Ryan Reynolds. Jackman had previously played Wolverine for 17 years before retiring from the role, so his decision to return sent shockwaves among Marvel fans. Apparently, that included Reynolds, who co-wrote the film.

In an interview with IndieWire, the actor revealed that writing "Wolverine dialogue was a terrifying process." Reynolds used this opportunity to heap praise onto his friend and costar Jackman, speaking more specifically about a scene wherein WOlverine gives Deadpool a heavy reality check:

"Hugh took that monologue and just devoured it. He chewed it, swallowed it, and delivered for us…and at the end, there’s a stage direction at the bottom that briefly says after he finishes that whole speech, 'a flicker of regret crosses his pupil.

Superhero movies have a complicated relationship with the Academy Awards. Typically, their nominations tend to be for more technical categories, such as Best Visual Effects. A notable exception to this was Black Panther receiving a nod for Best Picture. Even so, the minds behind Deadpool & Wolverine discussed whether the McU's first R-rated outing could be an Oscars contender, specifically in the "Best Adapted Screenplay" category.

Speaking with IndieWire, director Shawn Levy explained:

"There’s this presumption, because the movie has a bouncy, naturalistic flow to it that, 'Oh, we’re just finding it through improvisation, and we’re trying stuff out on set.' And certainly, there’s a little bit of that, but we refuse to go into production without a script that is honestly 95 percent reflective of the movie that everyone’s seen, and it really was the outgrowth of a long, long writing process."

2024 was certainly quite an exciting year for movie lovers. The year was full of critical hits like Anora and The Brutalist, as well as box office smashes like Inside Out 2 and Deadpool & Wolverine. All of these films dazzled their audiences, reminding viewers what the movies are all about. Now, with the year in the rearview mirror, many people have begun compiling their rankings of the best movies of 2024; the ones that they felt exceeded expectations, both in terms of their quality and their cultural impact.

Unfortunately, not every movie released in 2024 managed to fully live up to expectations. Plenty of films from the past year ended up coming short of achieving their goals, failing to deliver on what audiences really wanted to see. Whether it be because of poor quality, underwhelming box office performance, or merely failing to understand what their fans actually wanted, these 2024 movies didn't end up...

Today, the company has unveiled its 1/6th scale take on Ryan Reynolds' Nicepool. The actor has rarely lent his likeness to action figures like this one and the resemblance is spot on.

This Wade Wilson Variant didn't fare particularly well in Deadpool & Wolverine; after meeting the movie's leads in The Void, Nicepool followed them to Earth-10005, lost his guns and Dogpool, and was then blown to pieces by the Deadpool Corps after it was revealed that he had no healing factor.

If you want to celebrate Nicepool, then this figure is a great way to do so. However, we're not sure how popular he'll actually be given that this Wade is something of...

2024 was never shaping up to be a particularly strong year for comic book-based movies (especially after Marvel Studios announced that only one MCU film would be released), but we weren't expecting it to be quite so disappointing - from a critical or commercial standpoint.

Of the seven CBMs that hit theaters this year, only Deadpool and Wolverine was positively-reviewed, and even that was far what you'd call critically-acclaimed with a 78% on Rotten Tomatoes. The comedic team-up was a massive success at the box office, however, and is now the highest-grossing R-rated movie of all time.

Sony Pictures released three Ssu movies in 2024, Venom: The Last Dance, Madame Web and Kraven the Hunter, and all wound up with a green splat on the review aggregator. The Venom threequel did perform relatively well at the box office, but the others bombed.

Fans have been saying the superhero genre is in decline for years, but we finally have the figures to prove it. The last decade saw the Marvel Cinematic Universe sharply rise in popularity, making comic books, muscular actors wearing ridiculous spandex, and underwhelming villains cool with even the most casual of moviegoers. While the genre has been in decline for some years, with studios focusing more on profits over good storytelling, many thought 2024 would begin the genre's comeback. While Deadpool & Wolverine may have made all the money in the world at the box office, not even that was safe from critics.

Reminders of Him is a movie about motherhood, forgiveness and the power of one love to heal even the most shattered heart. Hooever and Lauren Levine adapted the novel for film. The film is produced by Hoover and Levine for their production company, Heartbones Entertainment. First published in 2022, Reminders of Him has sold more than 6 million copies in the United States and is a best seller around the world.

Bill Lawrence has another hit on his hands. Apple TV+ has renewed his comedy series Bad Monkey for a second season. The 10-episode first season premiered in August.

In a new interview with Variety between Deadpool & Wolverine director Shawn Levy and Wicked director Jon M. Chu, Levy revealed that his film was nearly scrapped until one phone call from Hugh Jackman saved it. It began with a question from Chu, who asked Levy if he felt enormous pressure directing a project like Deadpool & Wolverine. Levy's answer might surprise fans.

Levy answered, “People assumed the pressure would be 'Oh, it’s my first Marvel movie, and the MCU needs a big hit.' It had been years since Endgame, and when we were prepping, Quantumania came out. I expected Marvel was going to be intense. It wasn’t.”

Apple TV+ has given a Season 2 renewal to breakout comedy Bad Monkey, from developer, executive producer and showrunner Bill Lawrence, star/executive producer Vince Vaughn and Warner Bros. Television where Lawrence is based.

The pickup comes more than a month after the Season 1 finale of Bad Monkey was released. I hear the delay was largely due to logistics related to relocation. In a rare good news for California production amid the recent exodus, Bad Monkey will be moving from Miami and the Florida Keys to the Los Angeles area in Season 2, sources tell Deadline. I hear the move was important to LA-based Vaughn, and the crew also faced a lot of weather-related challenges while filming Season 1. To do it, the series was awarded a $20M tax credit from California.

Since the first trailer for Deadpool & Wolverine dropped, Wade Wilson calling himself "Marvel Jesus" has proven to be one of the film's most memorable lines. The film overall completely demolished the fourth wall with its approach to Marvel's post-Endgame record, which is generally viewed as less successful than the previous decade of films. However, the scene in which Deadpool declares himself the messiah of the Marvel Cinematic Universe is perhaps the most infamous line from the film.
