Edson Ferreira (Brasília, August 15, 1972) is a Brazilian actor, filmmaker, and screenwriter with over two decades of artistic career. He is the co-founder of Filmes da Ilha Produções and a member of the Oscar® Committee, promoted by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. Edson is also associated with APAN (Association of Black Audiovisual Professionals) and the Brazilian Academy of Cinema. Recognized as the first Black person to direct a fiction feature film in Espírito Santo, his filmography includes three feature films: Areia (2025); A Serena Onda que o Mar me Trouxe (2024) and Entreturnos (2014), as well as several short films, series and music videos. As an actor, his main works include the short films Retorno (2024) and A Mesa no Deserto (2017), the feature film Areia (2025), and the series Cidinha dá Jeito (2019).
