Everyone’s favourite neighbourhood web-slinger, Spider-Man, storms his way onto Disney+ from Wednesday 21st July in a series of ten brand-new animated shorts – geared towards pre-schoolers and their families, in a first for Marvel – Meet Spidey and his Amazing Friends, which is Executive Produced by Alan Fine (Marvel’s The Avengers), Joe Quesada (Marvel’s Avengers Assemble), Dan Buckley (Marvel’s Spider-Man), Cort Lane (Ultimate Spider-Man), and Eric Radomski (Marvel’s Avengers Assemble).

In the series, we meet Spidey, Ghost-Spider and Miles Morales. The team discover what is takes to become a truly amazing superhero – being a friend and working together as a team – working side-by-side to help people and protect the city from Super Villains. Marvel’s Spider-Man season 3 is heading our way next month in the form of Spider-Man: Maximum Venom, and we cannot wait. The Emmy Award-nominated series has been gone too long!

Marvel Television as we’ve known it the past decade will be no more. With its slate dwindling over the past year and its head Jeph Loeb set to depart, the television-focused division of Marvel Studios will be phased out.

The Marvel TV projects that are currently in production will continue but any further development is being scrapped. As a result, a significant portion of the unit’s staff are being laid off, sources said. The executives impacted are said to include Cort Lane, Marsha Griffin, Mark Ambrose, Tom Lieber and Aimee Carlson.

A handful of current Marvel TV executives, led by Karim Zreik, Svp Current Programming and Production, will join the Marvel Studios group to oversee the remaining Marvel TV shows already on the books and on the go.

That includes the announced four animated series and the live-action Helstrom for Hulu and last season of ABC’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.,...

Marvel’s television division is officially winding down.

Variety has learned that Marvel Television will no longer be developing any new series beyond the shows that are currently in production. According to an individual with knowledge of the situation, Marvel will eliminate a number of positions in the near future as a result of the cessation of development at the division. Karim Zreik, senior vice president of current programming and production and members of his team will now join the Marvel Studios group. Zreik will lead the current projects in production. Marvel TV head Jeph Loeb will remain with the division during the transition.

The move to close up shop on Marvel Television was not altogether unexpected, as Variety reported in September that there was a growing perception in the industry that Loeb’s division was on its way out given that Marvel movies boss Kevin Feige was set to...

Everything's coming up Milhouse Venom in the first teaser for Spider-Man: Maximum Venom! Both Cap and Iron Man will be experiencing some serious symbiote vibes when the third season of the animated Disney show lands next year.

"We planted the seeds in two seasons of Marvel’s Spider-Man and three seasons of Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy, but you don’t need to have watched them to be blown away by this all-out symbiote invasion. While a ton of guest heroes will be on hand, Peter Parker’s special link to Venom makes him the only hero who can tip the scales to save humanity.

Marvel has announced a new animated series coming to the Disney Channel based on their hit comic book series Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur.

The series follows the adventures of “13-year-old super-genius Lunella Lafayette and her ten-ton T-Rex, Devil Dinosaur. After Lunella accidentally brings Devil Dinosaur into present-day New York City via a time vortex, the duo works together to protect the city's Lower East Side from danger.”

This is actually a really fun story, and it has potential to be a great series. It’s being executive produced by Laurence Fishburne and Helen Sugland's Cinema Gypsy Productions, Marvel Animation & Family Entertainment, and Steve Loter (Disney's Kim Possible).

Well, this is awkward timing.

During Marvel Animation & Family Entertainment’s panel at Disney’s D23 Expo on Friday evening, the company announced a new original preschool animated series for Disney Junior, Marvel’s Spidey and His Amazing Friends. Set to debut in 2021, it marks the first full-length Marvel series for Disney Junior.

The news comes at the end of a tumultuous week for the Spider-Man live-action movie franchise. As Deadline first reported, a standoff between Sony and Marvel/Disney has led to Marvel chief Kevin Feige exiting the Sony’s Spider-Man franchise and a looming exit of Spider-Man from the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Sony Pictures Animation and Columbia Pictures has unveiled a new trailer for their Spider-Man: Into the Spiderverse, its animated take on the Spidey franchise masterminded by Phil Lord and Christopher Miller. In a very carefully-worded announcement, Marvel has confirmed that Spider-Man season 2 will be happening on Disney Xd. The most recent animated Spider-Man series has been a lot of fun, so we're happy to hear this.

Marvel Entertainment announced today, Marvel Rising, a brand-new, multi-platform animation franchise starring the next generation of Marvel heroes set to launch in 2018, culminating with Marvel Rising: Secret Warriors. The program will launch with six, four-minute digital shorts that spotlight Spider-Gwen with her new secret moniker, Ghost-Spider, and introduce audiences to the world of Marvel Rising. Following the shorts, a feature-length animated film, Marvel Rising: Secret Warriors will premiere later that year. Distribution partners for the content to be announced at a later date. Over the weekend, during New York Comic Con, it was announced by Marvel's VP of Animation Cort Lane that Marvel Animation would be teaming up with the Lego Group to make an animated Black Panther Lego Movie. The movie will be called Black Panther: Trouble in Wakanda.

There are no other details than that, but I seriously doubt it will be up to the level of what Warner Bros. is doing with their Lego movies. This will probably just end up being a silly direct-to-Blu-ray/digital release.

Marvel Animation really isn't doing anything impressive with their projects these days, which is why I'm not expecting much. But, it might be something that will be fun for the kids to watch and it will certainly help them learn more about the character and who he is.

The upcoming Disney Xd Animated series, Marvel's Spider-Man, will have a tie-in with the Guardians of the Galaxy, Marvel exec Cort Lane confirms.

Marvel executive Cort Lane explains the importance of Uncle Ben's death in Peter Parker's superhero story arc in Marvel's Spider-Man.

Marvel has released sneak peek of their new Spider-Man animated series. It features a clip of Spidey in the heat of battle with Scorpion. The new series goes back to the origins of Spider-Man as a hero while Peter Parker discovers his powers and begins fighting crime in New York City.

It looks like something the kids will enjoy, but Marvel hasn't really impressed me with any of their animation projects since The Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes. Since then things have just been going downhill, especially the animation quality.

Maybe some of you will enjoy this first look more than I did. Check it out and tell us what you think! The series is set to debut on Disney Xd this summer.

Fittingly enough, Ant-Man is going to flit between the big and small screens. Scott Lang is shrinking to telly size for Disney Xd, to appear in a series of shorts entitled Marvel's Ant-Man.

Josh Keaton (heard recently in Ben-10 and Voltron: Legendary Defender) will step into Paul Rudd's shoes to voice crook-turned-hero Scott.

The shorts will follow on from the events of Peyton Reed's 2015 Ant-Man movie, but, as with the Guardians Of The Galaxy animated series, we wouldn't expect them to be officially canonical with the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The cinematic sequel Ant-Man And The Wasp, we expect, won't need to shape its script to account for these events.

The series will simply be called Marvel's Spider-Man, and it's set to drop sometime in 2017. It will tell the story of "an unsure but courageous teen who has to figure out how to be a superhero from the very beginning."

Marvel are starting to get a tiny bit silly now. Besides getting people all hot and bothered with teasers for teaser trailers for actual trailers, they’re now doing pre-announcements. This week Marvel’s VP Of Animation Development And Production, Cort Lane, mentioned at the Marvel Animation panel at WonderCon that the studio had a new animated project in the works. That’s all. Nothing special – they currently have Ultimate Spider-Man, Hulk: Agents Of Smash and Avengers Assemble.

Those three form a sort-of shared animated universe, much like Marvel’s nineties cartoons, but oh yeah – what makes this new project different is that it’s gonna be set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. So it’ll be sharing the same fictional space as the Avengers movies, Guardians Of The Galaxy, and that thing about the Incredible Shrinking Paul Rudd. Now that’s pretty exciting, whatever it is.

Marvel has already taken its ambitious shared-universe model and expanded it from film to television (and entered the realm of streaming with Daredevil‘s Netflix debut this weekend). Now, however, they may begin experimenting with a new medium altogether: animation. According to Marvel’s Vice President of Animation Development and Production, Cort Lane, animated tie-ins to the larger McU may be on the horizon.

During Emerald City Comic-Con last weekend, Lane was asked by a fan about the possibility of seeing animated projects set in the McU. Lane’s response was a non-committal but promising statement saying that while he couldn’t announce anything, “things are in the works.”

What “things” Lane is alluding to are a complete mystery, but he did point toward Daredevil as a “proof-of-concept” for projects that tie into the larger world that Marvel has created. On one hand, it makes complete sense that the studio...

There’s a bunch of Marvel-based animated series on Disney Xd including Avengers Assemble and the upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy show, but none take place in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. McU crossovers have served Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. well, so why not do the same in the animated realm? Turns out, that’s exactly what Marvel’s VP of Animation Development and Production is thinking. According to Newsarama (via /Film), here’s how Cort Lane responded when a fan asked if the animation team will make something that takes place in the Marvel Cinematic Universe at Emerald City Comic Con: "I can't announce anything, but things are in the works.” On top of that, Lane also dubbed Daredevil on Netflix “a proof of concept for things that tie-in to the larger world.” Clearly the comments are brief, but they certainly suggest that this is something Marvel is considering. Two further trailers have surfaced for the first season of "Marvel's Daredevil" which debuts in full on Netflix on April 10th, both are available back-to-back in the clip below. At least several episodes of the series have been made available to various press outlets and reviews have been strong so far.

Show runner Steven DeKnight has also spoken with Sci-Fi Now this week about some of the characters that could show up in the second season. Seems two that appeared in the previous film adaptation could show up:

"Looking forward, there are so many stories to tell. The Hand, Elektra, Bullseye… with a 13-episode arc you don’t have to rush it; you can explore. That’s not to say we are going to do Bullseye and Elektra, but it’s on the radar."

With Phase Two coming to a close later this year, the Marvel Cinematic Universe is slated to expand even more with a nine-movie Phase Three that kicks off with next year's Captain America: Civil War. Marvel Studios is also expanding its brand on the small screen, with Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Marvel's Agent Carter and four Netflix shows that kick off with Marvel's Daredevil next week. The studio also produces a number of animated TV shows that aren't connected to the McU, but at Emerald City Comic Con last weekend, Cort Lane, Marvel's VP of Animation Development and Production, was asked if there are any plans to produce any animated content that would tie into the McU. Last weekend at Emerald City Comic-Con during the Marvel Animation panel, Marvel VP of Animation Cort Lane reportedly told fans in attendance that the House of Ideas is exploring animated tie-ins that connect to the McU.  "I can't announce anything, but things are in the works," was Lane's reply to a fan question.  Exactly what these "things" are is anyone's guess. Production has begun on Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy an upcoming animated-television series for Disney Xd, featuring the hugely popular characters introduced in the record-breaking Marvel Studios film of the same name. Produced by Marvel Television, the series stars Peter Quill as Star-Lord, the brash adventurer who, to save the universe from its greatest threats, joins forces with a quartet of disparate misfits - fan-favorite Rocket Raccoon, a tree-like humanoid named Groot, the enigmatic, expert fighter Gamora and the rough-edged warrior Drax the Destroyer.

Marvel announced at New York Comic Con that they have started production on an animated series for Guardians of the Galaxy! News of this first popped up earlier in the year, and it's great to see that it's actually happening. The series is coming to Disney Xd in 2015! The announcement came from Jeph Loeb, Marvel's Head of Television, and we even have some cool test footage for you to check out that gives us a good idea of what we can expect from the series.

The "Guardians Of The Galaxy" are coming to your TV. Marvel announced that they're working on a new animated series based on the intergalactic superhero team this morning at Comic-Con.   A sixty second preview was shown at the panel, with footage of Rocket Raccoon and Star-Lord, Deadline reports. Although details are scarce, the series will feature many of the same the upcoming film which stars Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Benicio del Toro, Lee Pace, and the voices of Vin Diesel and Bradley Cooper. It will air on Disney Xd. A premiere date has yet to be revealed. The announcement was made as part of the Marvel Animation panel, which featured Marvel Animation VP Stephen Wacker, Svp Eric Radomski and VP Cort Lane, plus Hulk voice actor Fred Tatasciore. "Guardians of the Galaxy" (the movie) opens August 1.
