Julia Scheeres

Julia Scheeres is a New York Times-bestselling author based in California. Her books include the memoir "Jesus Land," about her relationship with her adopted Black brother David and the challenges they faced growing up in rural Indiana and, as teens, at a Christian reform school. "A Thousand Lives: The Untold Story of Jonestown" is a narrative history of the Jonestown tragedy, based on newly released FBI files and hundreds of hours of interviews with survivors. "Listen World: How Elsie Robinson Became America's Most-Read Woman" is a biography of the dramatic rags-to-riches life of the famed Hearst columnist.

"Jesus Land" was optioned by director Saila Kariat, with production beginning in April 2025.
