Prime Video began production on its new series, Elle, and on April 2, Reese Witherspoon released a first-look photo of Lexi Minetree as Elle Woods.
When reporting on the series update, Deadline shared Prime Video commits to going back in time to tell Elle's past right: "You can tell they’ve gone back in time as the teen uses her clear phone to speak to her friends on a landline, as many did in the '90s. And in true Elle Woods fashion, she’s wearing a pink hoodie and surrounded by her pink bedding."
Viewers can expect a lot of pink attire, corded phones, and possibly some great dialogue. If they fully commit, the audience will be transported back to a different era of music and feel like we're in the Legally Blonde films with a younger spin.

Legally Blonde was a highly successful movie that spawned a sequel and a musical production. Now, the franchise is expanding with a prequel television series called Elle.
The series will tell the story of what Elle Woods got up to before she became the sorority sister who broke barriers at Harvard Law. The original Elle, Reese Witherspoon, who serves as executive producer for the new show, recently shared the first image of the 90s-set outing in a post on Instagram. The new Elle, Lexi Minetree, is seen lying on a pink bedspread - pink being the color most closely associated with the character and her unapologetically girly franchise - and speaking into a retro phone.

The Legally Blonde franchise announced it would adapt a prequel series, Elle, on Amazon Prime Video. Prime ordered the series in May 2024 and began searching for a young and upcoming actress to play the teenage Elle Woods. After many months, they landed on their choice in February 2025, with the casting of Elle's parents following in March. Ten months into the process, the Legally Blonde prequel TV series has completed the Woods family trio.
There isn't much known about Elle Woods' parents, but there are brief scenes of them in the movies. We can assume they played crucial roles in Elle's teen years. Because their parts are essential, fans will expect great acting from the prequel's actors.

Get ready for more pink, more confidence, and a whole new side of Elle Woods on Prime Video.
I only saw “Legally Blonde” for the first time about four years ago, when my wife insisted we watch it together - it’s one of her all-time favorites. And yeah, even if some people call it a “girl’s movie” – I loved it. Reese Witherspoon’s Elle Woods is funny, smart, and endlessly charming, making it impossible not to root for her.
Now, Prime Video is taking us back to where it all started with “Elle,” a prequel series that explores Elle’s high school years and the experiences that shaped her into the pink-clad powerhouse we know and love. With Laura Kittrell (“Insecure”) as showrunner and Witherspoon producing, “Elle” is shaping up to be a must-watch for longtime fans and anyone who wants some high school nostalgia. Reese Witherspoon’s Legally Blonde experience has apparently helped her beyond establishing her as a pop-culture icon. The Big Little Lies actress recently claimed in an interview that the movie helped her power through a long trial when she was called on jury duty.

While she initially did not want to be a part of that, by the time the trial was in full flow, she became completely invested in it. The hilarious part, however, was that she was appointed as foreman during the trial, as the others believed she truly went to a law school. Although that only increased her worries, in true Elle Woods fashion, she slayed it.

“Elle,” the “Legally Blonde” prequel series, has found Elle’s mom.
June Diane Raphael has joined the Amazon Prime Video project as Eva, joining the previously announced Lexi Minetree as Elle. The series follows a younger Elle Woods, who was played by Reese Witherspoon in the two “Legally Blonde” films, finding her footing in high school.
“Elle” is created by Laura Kittrell, who is an executive producer and co-showrunner alongside Caroline Dries. Witherspoon is executive producing the show through her Hello Sunshine banner, alongside Lauren Neustadter and Marc Platt. The first two episodes will be directed by Jason Moore. “Elle” is produced by Hello Sunshine and Amazon MGM Studios.
The original 2001 “Legally Blonde” film was a box office success, grossing over $140 million worldwide. Its sequel, “Legally Blonde 2: Red, White, and Blonde,” was released in 2003. A direct-to-video third film came out in 2009, which Witherspoon produced but did not star in.

Osgood Perkins first made a name for himself starring alongside Reese Witherspoon in Legally Blonde, the 2001 film receiving a prequel series that recently cast its young Elle Woods, but he’s recently become known for his work on thrilling horror movies such as Longlegs and now The Monkey. The Monkey opened with $14 million at the box office this weekend, taking the #2 spot behind Captain America: Brave New World, which earned $28 million during its second weekend in theaters. This $14 million domestic opening for The Monkey was enough to lift Oz Perkins’ career domestic box office total past the $100 million mark, with the lion’s share of earnings coming from Longlegs last year, the horror film starring Nicolas Cage and Maika Monroe that grossed $74 million domestically.

Reese Whitherspoon has a staggering net worth, and it is mainly because she has not only confined herself to her acting career. The 48-year-old’s ventures outside Hollywood have played a key role in raising the cash.
As she rose to fame in the ‘90s and became a household name in the 2000s with her iconic role as Elle Woods in ‘Legally Blonde,’ Witherspoon’s business acumen helped her make smart financial moves early on. We have to hand it to Fire Country because this series is on a roll with some truly unexpected writing.
Every time it seemed like the show was reverting to old habits, it pivoted to truly inspiring storytelling.
I know a lot of Gabriela and Bode shippers out there are feeling some kind of way after the ending, but there was too much love in the air not to get on board.
(Sergei Bachlakov/CBS)
Besides, it may not have been a box of chocolates, but what woman wouldn’t swoon after being rescued by a fire-breathing (animatronic) dragon?
Fire Country still has room for improvement, but the story, character development, and direction of the series have made noticeable improvements overall.
So, let’s just go ahead and get a few things that could have used a bit more magic on this medieval episode out of the way.

Maya Bishop probably never saw Carina DeLuca coming.
Hell, neither did we, but everyone knows the best love stories take you by surprise, and they’re not just about building a ship but a legacy.
And that’s what Station 19 did with the ever-lasting love story between these two women, resulting in a timeless, iconic love story in the Grey’s Anatomy Universe.
Maya and Carina happily canoodle baby liam as they think about their future together on the series finale. (Disney/James Clark )
Unsurprisingly, the lasting impact of love on the tragically canceled Station 19 is that of this endearing pairing who persevered through it all.
Subverting everything television commonly showcases about queer love, Marina manages to emerge as one of the few sapphic pairings onscreen that get their happily ever after.
