- Clare is a survivor of childhood cancer, having had the disease between the ages of four and seven, and has been an Australian Cancer Council Youth Ambassador since 2008.
- Clare is also a singer, securing the role of Wendla Bergman in the Sydney Theatre Company's critically-acclaimed 2010 non-replica production of the Tony Award-winning musical "Spring Awakening" by Steven Sater and Duncan Sheik. It was directed by Geordie Brookman, choreography by Kate Champion, and artistically overseen by Cate Blanchett.
- The inside of one of her forearms was badly burned by gunpowder residue after she fired a rifle during the making of Dead Man's Burden (2012).
- (October 21, 2017) Married her longtime boyfriend Brandon Robert Young in Nashville following a 22-month-long engagement. Young popped the question to Bowen onstage at the The Grand Ole Opry on December 5, 2015. Shortly after their engagement, Bowen's younger brother, Tim Bowen (then 25 years old), was diagnosed with stage 4 lymphoma and given just two weeks to live. Bowen put on hold her wedding plans in order to support her ill brother. He is now in remission. She also had cancer but now she is a cancer free.
- Said that learning to do an American Southern accent for Nashville (2012) wasn't too difficult for her.
- Traveled a lot as a child because her parents worked for Qantas Airways.
