Under any other circumstance, if there was a widespread rumor — supposedly verified by legit news sources — that Beyoncé was going to perform at an internationally televised event, only to have the evening proceed with no mention or trace of her, it’d feel deflating. But that airy sound you heard across the land Thursday night wasn’t the sound of a whiff… it was a mass sigh of relief. (At least that’s a sensation that I’m guessing might have been more universally shared than not.) The news journalist in me was hoping that she or Taylor Swift would make an appearance at the Democratic National Convention; the political pragmatist who feels an actual stake in this election was praying the two of them would be making it a C-span-and-chill night. Part of the savvy of being a superstar is recognizing those moments when the world says it wants...

Jason Aldean, who famously railed against crime in his song “Try That in a Small Town,” joined convicted felon Donald Trump in the former president’s box at the Republican National Convention on Thursday night.
Aldean, in a gray T-shirt and white hat adorned with an American flag logo, was seated to the right of Trump, in a dark suit and red tie. The country singer’s wife, Brittany Aldean, who marketed Free Trump merchandise after the 45th president’s conviction in May on 34 counts of falsifying business records, was also present.

Say what you will about Joe Biden (and we’ve been as candid as anyone), the man has enjoyed an A-list roster of celebrity fans in recent years: Tom Hanks, Julia Roberts, Brad Pitt, Leonardo DiCaprio, Taylor Swift, Jennifer Lawrence and George Clooney are among those who have endorsed and/or fundraised. While Biden’s famous supporters haven’t been nearly so public or enthusiastic since his debate disaster, Hollywood loves the Dems and isn’t shy about it.
Donald Trump, despite having spend a great deal of time in Hollywood, has never drawn much star support. Yet he still has an odd assemblage of mostly C- and D-listers. To some extent, this is true of most modern Republican presidential candidates (with Ronald Reagan probably being the last to draw a fair amount major star support).
Do celebrity endorsements matter? Probably not. And among Republican voters, almost certainly not. But...

The Republican National Convention opened Monday afternoon, with a boosted security presence following the assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump.
That has given the proceedings a different tenor of coverage, with Trump expected to appear on the floor Monday night to a rousing reception of delegates and supporters.
Before the Trump rally shooting, correspondents already were looking to a convention that would be more than just a coronation of the Republican nominee, as he has yet to announce his vice presidential running mate. The former president has signaled that will come today.
Now, with the assassination attempt and concerns over the escalation of political violence, media focus will be on the speakers and the extent to which they display messages of unity versus red meat rhetoric.
“The reality is, this whole convention now is going to be really colored by what happened the other, and just the images of him pumping first and saying,...

On Thursday, Tennessee Governor Bill Lee signed the United States’ very first AI music law: the Elvis Act, which amends pre-existing legislation to protect the voices of artists as property rights.
Signed at a ceremony hosted at a honky tonk in Nashville’s famous Broadway district, the Elvis Act was supported by the initiative, The Human Artistry Campaign, and has a number of prominent supporters, including country stars Luke Bryan and Chris Janson (who were both at the signing), Recording Academy CEO Harvey Mason Jr., a bipartisan coalition of Tennessee lawmakers, and more.

Those who knowingly use an individual’s voice “for purposes of advertising products, merchandise, goods, or services, or for purposes of fundraising,...

“They all call it puppy love.” Dolly Parton opens this pet-centric two-hour variety special, Dolly Parton’s Pet Gala, singing a new take on her very first single — which she originally recorded in 1959 at age 13 — “Puppy Love.” In addition to the country legend’s performances (you’ll also hear “9 to 5” and “I Will Always Love You”), expect musical guests like Lainey Wilson and Chris Janson, comedy bits and star-studded special guest appearances by Drew Barrymore, Kristen Bell, Neil Patrick Harris, and Parton’s cohost Jane Lynch, among others. The main event is a canine fashion show, of course, with the pooches in looks from the Doggy Parton product line. “One of the things I’m most excited about is we’re going to re-create...

American Idol season 21 has such strong talent that difficult cuts are inevitable, but Elijah McCormick's elimination after the Top 26 round at Disney's Aulani Resort & Spa in Hawaii was very shocking. After Hollywood Week, American Idol judges Lionel Richie, Katy Perry, and Luke Bryan couldn't bear to say goodbye to some of the contestants, so they created a Top 26 instead of a Top 24. During the Hawaii round, America had the chance to vote for the first time after the auditions and three Hollywood Week rounds.

Savannah Chrisley is all about showing off her skills.
This time, it’s her bartending abilities.
The Growing Up Chrisley star hopped behind the bar to sling some drinks and looked amazing doing it.
Savannah donned a cropped Live Oak t-shirt and Daisy Dukes as she was behind the bar. She showed off her abs, which were toned due to her workout sessions. The Daisy Dukes were frayed at the bottom, which is on brand for the fashionista.
It was a clip from a recent episode of Growing Up Chrisley and Savannah just wanted to show off her cocktail knowledge. The beautiful blonde did just that.
Her bartending skills are there, but so are her days as a pageant girl, as Savannah did her walk and pose while filming the clip.

But even if the idea of a mainstream country hit makes him chuckle, Earle is completely serious. Of the endless creative projects the 67-year-old singer-songwriter is juggling after the end of his nightly appearances in the off-Broadway play Coal Country — prepping for a tour with the Dukes,...
