Fabulous Films have released Series 2 of Dr Death on DVD.

Season Two of Dr. Death, based on the hit Wondery podcast, follows the real-life story of Italian surgeon Paolo Macchiarini, a “Miracle Man” once seen as pioneering transplant surgeon, who performed experimental surgeries on his patients without their consent.

Macchiarini was the subject of Season 3 of the Dr Death podcast but is season two of the TV series. Both series have performed well on Rotten Tomatoes (averaging 93% and 80% Tomatometer ratings respectively).

When Mandy Moore was first approached about starring in Season 2 of “Dr. Death,” she was ready to branch out.

“I just was so excited to take on something that just felt different from anything I’ve ever done before,” Moore told TheWrap. Late in the season, a skeptical reporter tells Benita that the former narrative is the more interesting one, since it’s simpler, juicier, more relatable. After six seasons at the front of This Is Us, Mandy Moore is embracing some darker fare with her new role in Peacock’s Dr. Death.

In the second season of the anthology series — which follows up the Joshua Jackson-led first season with a new cast and new plot — Moore stars alongside Edgar Ramírez in the real-life story of Dr. Paolo Macchiarini, a charming surgeon renowned for his innovative operations. She plays investigative journalist Benita Alexander, who approaches the doctor for a story, kicking off a whirlwind romance between the two as Macchiarini’s dark secrets begin to unfold.

Moore had given birth to her second child just a month before she got the pitch for the project, admitting she “was not thinking about work” and the ask to move from Los Angeles to New York for the shoot felt “like a heavy lift.”

Bad Surgeon is a three-part series that chronicles the rise and fall of Swiss-Italian surgeon Paolo Macchiarini after being exposed for being a medical fraud.

While Macchiarini became well known due to creating the world's first plastic organs, it was eventually revealed that many of his patients who he had operated on later died.

What started as a flirtation between a producer and her interview subject quickly blossomed into something more, and despite the ethical concerns about their relationship and Macchiarini's suspicious behavior, Alexander found herself falling in love with the "super-surgeon" who claimed to have developed a groundbreaking synthetic-trachea procedure. Caught up in their fairy-tale romance, Alexander failed to recognize that Macchiarini, who proposed in December 2013, was a fraud in nearly every sense of the word: Not only did he have a secret family in Barcelona, but he misrepresented his research and failed to properly test his plastic tracheas, resulting in the deaths of seven patients.

The bunker door is creaking open at Prime Video. The streamer has released the first images for its upcoming “Fallout” series adaptation, starring Ella Purnell, Walton Goggins, Kyle MacLachlan, and more.

Based on the Bethesda video game franchise of the same name, the series takes place “in a future, post-apocalyptic Los Angeles [where] citizens must live in underground bunkers to protect themselves from radiation, mutants, and bandits after nuclear annihilation.”

It’s hard to keep track of all the ethical violations depicted in Bad Surgeon: Love Under the Knife, the new three-part Netflix docuseries whose title suggests a straight-to-cable Nineties TV movie. Some of the sins here on display are, literally, mortal: Paolo Macchiarini, an apparent sociopath, a definite conman, and, worst of all, a surgeon, left a trail of corpses in the wake of his fraudulent stem cell procedures, in which he inserted plastic tracheas into people before even testing them on animals. Others are more venal, if extremely aggravating to journalists.
