From the age of 4, until she was a teenager, Romina Arena was a
Mouseketeer for Disney in Italy (Topolino) during that time she was
classically trained as a singer and dancer and has been in the
entertainment business all her life. As a teenager, after a successful
ground breaking concert at the Sidney Opera House in Australia, she
suffered a vicious attack at the hands of a jealous entertainer prior
to a prime time show in Italy, having her vocal cords severed, and
suffering from a severe brain injury, at the edge of life and death, in
a hospital bed for months. With true determination, over a three year
recovery period, Romina not only survived the attack and completely
recovered her singing voice but gained a reach of a five octave vocal
range to become an International singing star. A pioneer, although
still at a young age, sits on the forefront of a new genre of music
called Pop Classical Crossover or Operatic Pop also known as Popera, a
very commercially accessible high end genre of music. Romina is not
only a Mezzo Soprano but also her incredible power as a female tenor
earned her the title La Tenorette, & the Queen of Popera by the media
on an international scale. Recently Romina reunited with her long time
mentor Oscar award winning film composer Maestro Ennio Morricone who
chose her to write and sing lyrics to his most famous movie scores of
all time. After 20 years in the making, the duo collaborated on their
new album together "Morricone.Uncovered and was released September
2012. Romina is not only a songwriter but a composer for film TV and
advertising as well as a published author, speaker, screenwriter,
creative producer and a music supervisor. She sings, speaks and writes
fluently in ten different languages and over the life of her career has
sold over four million records worldwide.
