Per Deadline, Angels in the Asylum halted filming in February, 15 days into a month-long shoot, with producers currently scrambling to get the $6.4M production back on track. The movie's crew members are reportedly owed at least £600,000 in wages, with cast pay ringfenced in an escrow account under Equity union agreements. Pegg, who also serves as an executive producer for Angels in the Asylum, has not invested in the film and has not yet been paid for his work.

The report claims that the British indie film began filming without enough financing for the entire shoot, so it now has to halt filming about halfway through the project. In February, it was 15 days into a month-long production window, but now the cast and crew must wait until the producers find enough financing to restart principal photography. Deadline says there is no idea when cameras will begin rolling again on Angels in the Asylum as the $6.4 million production looks for new funding.

Exclusive: Aurora Perrineau (Prodigal Son) has been tapped for an undisclosed role in Angels in the Asylum, an upcoming indie drama marking the feature debut of writer-director Rob Sorrenti.

Kaos series creator Charlie Covell thanks fans for their support amid its cancellation and hopes that the series can still resonate with viewers. The black comedy is a retelling of Greek mythology in a more contemporary setting, as a prophecy threatens to bring down the seemingly all-powerful gods who are desperate to cling to power. Kaos starred Aurora Perrineau as Eurydice, Killian Scott as Orpheus, Misia Butler as Caeneus, and Leila Farzad as Ariadne, while Jeff Goldblum, Janet McTeer, and Nabhaan Rizwan played the gods Zeus, Hera, and Dionysus.

While Kaos may have been cut short with Netflix's cancellation, Covell released their own statement on the show's fate through production company Sister's Instagram account.

While Covell did emphasize how unfortunate it was that the show was canceled, they urged viewers to focus on the good parts of its existence.

There is nothing quite like Kaos currently on the air, and unfortunately, now there isn’t anything at all.

Kaos was a genuinely fun series, in many ways taking a similar approach as The Boys when tackling a specific genre that is either overfraught or not approached in unique ways.

Charlie Covell has urged fans to “please keep talking about Kaos” after the shock cancellation of the Netflix show earlier this week.

Fans were left blindsided on Tuesday when one of the lead actors, Aurora Perrineau, posted on Instagram saying that the show would be ending after one season. This came a few weeks after Covell said they had ideas for another two seasons of the Sister-produced series, which starred Jeff Goldblum, Janet McTeer and Nabhaan Rizwan.

Taking to Sister’s Instagram in the past few minutes, Covell said “my hope now is that people still continue to discover and enjoy the show.”

“I reckon there are some potential fans out there who might need more time to find it, so please keep talking about Kaos if you enjoyed it,” wrote Covell, who also created the hit The End of the F***ing World series for Netflix and Channel 4.

Netflix has canceled Kaos after one season, dashing hopes of the Greek gods returning for season 2. The cancelation of Jeff Goldblum's Netflix series arrived a little more than a month after its streaming debut. Goldblum played an insecure and arrogant version of Zeus in the modernized and darkly comical reimagining of Greek mythology. Kaos' cast of characters also included Janet McTeer as Hera, Stephen Dillane as Prometheus, and Aurora Perrineau as the human Eurydice, who challenged the gods' authority.

Season 1 had a generally favorable reception, with a 76% critic score and 83% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes. Many reviews praised the performances, including Goldblum's depiction of Zeus, and applauded the series' dark comedy and social satire. Kaos season 1's ending brought many of the storylines to a satisfying conclusion, but it also set the stage for a second season. Unfortunately, Kaos won't be able to deliver on that promise, despite the series' largely positive reviews.

Before she created Kaos, which was revently released on Netflix, Charlie Covell wrote several terrific shows including Truelove, a dark drama for Channel 4 with a brilliant ensemble cast including Lindsay Duncan and Clarke Peters, and The End Of The F***ing World, about a teenager who believes himself to be a psychopath, which is now on Netflix and is well worth watching.

We had a feeling that this announcement was coming after star Aurora Perrineau shared and then deleted a cryptic social media post late last night, and Variety has now confirmed that Netflix has cancelled Kaos after a single season.

The black comedy drama, which stars Jeff Goldblum as the all-powerful King of the Gods, Zeus, only premiered on the streamer in late August. Though reviews were mostly positive (76% on Rotten Tomatoes), the 8-episode series arrived without much fanfare.

Though the show's viewership numbers were nothing special, they were far from disastrous.

Kaos appeared in Netflix’s top 10 charts for English-language series in each of its first four weeks on the streamer, topping out at No. 3 for the week of Sept. 2-8. It earned 14.9 million views (measured by total viewing time divided by running time) over those weeks.

The decision comes about six weeks after the dark comedy, based on Greek and Roman mythology and created by Charlie Covell (The End of the F***ing World), made its debut on the streamer. Kaos appeared in Netflix’s top 10 charts for English-language series in each of its first four weeks, topping out at No. 3 for the week of Sept. 2-8. It earned 14.9 million views (measured by total viewing time divided by running time) over those weeks, a middling number by the streamer’s standards.

In the United States, the show had 3.34 million views as of Sept. 8, according to Nielsen’s streaming ratings (viewing totals for subsequent weeks aren’t yet available).

News of the cancellation initially arrived courtesy of one of its stars, Aurora Perrineau, who played Eurydice – and posted a (since-deleted) emotional farewell to the show on her Instagram page. In the comments, she clarified that the show had, indeed, been cancelled. “We made something weird, dark, hilarious, deranged and absolutely tragic – something entirely human.

The modernized, dark comedy retelling of Greek mythology features Perrineau as the human Eurydice, known as Riddy, as she becomes entangled in a brewing rebellion against the deeply insecure and tyrannical Zeus (Jeff Goldblum).
